Done.
Apparently it's actually being used in physical therapy and some seniors olympics, so...there's that.

Serious / Re: Indiana Law: Business Owners Can Refuse Service to Anyone« on: March 30, 2015, 07:09:06 PM »But the law is not like the other 19 (At least?) states. Compare the language yourself. I've read it. Nowhere does it explicitly apply to disputes between private citizens. In fact, the word 'citizen' isn't even in the text, and 'private' only refers to private employers, in which it states the bill doesn't give cause to private employees. It very explicitly states it's relating to government entities. 6393
Serious / Re: Indiana Law: Business Owners Can Refuse Service to Anyone« on: March 30, 2015, 06:58:37 PM »Perfect - so most of the people who advocated for this law! Like I said, you have no idea what you're talking about. I knew where you were going with this, and I've refuted it numerous times here. First of all the, actual text is, "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." In Ancient Israel, and every other Ancient Near East culture, women were considered a form of property, used to join families and barter marriages. A woman that was not a virgin was not considered valuable anymore, since her bartering value derived from the genetic joining of lineages. So when a woman was raped, she lost value, and the man got a slap on the wrist. This law, however, states that if a guy raped a woman, he would be forced to pay more than half a year's wages to the family and marry her, if she chose. Why would a woman choose to marry her rapist? Because he would provide protection through his family, and her own family as well. It was a punishment for him, and protection for her. Of course, she could choose not to marry him. And even more obviously, we don't live in Ancient Israel so it has no bearing on modern Christians. And Part #2 of not knowing what you're talking about:
Spoiler I've edited out that final /list three times now and it keeps coming back. Not sure how to format it properly. 6394
Serious / Re: Indiana Law: Business Owners Can Refuse Service to Anyone« on: March 30, 2015, 06:42:00 PM »I'd personally like a wedding cake for the marriage between me and the girl that I raped. Surely a bakery must oblige to that, since it is stated in their holy text that it is a form of acceptable marriage.Well I guess if you find a bakery run by people whose religion states that raped girls have to marry their rapists, you're in luck. Quote See how stupid this argument can become if we base legal business practices on definitions and scriptures that are thousands of years old?I see how stupid it can become when you have no idea what you're talking about, yes. 6395

AMA« on: March 29, 2015, 10:52:26 PM »i'm just saying, why does it matter what someone chooses to drink I do, because I like to explore different beers and wanted to ask what OP's first experience was. It helps you learn more about someone. Just because you don't an interest in something doesn't mean others share that sentiment. To say 'it's all alcohol' or whatever you said is really the only asinine thing about this; it's so self-explanatory why someone might present an interest in this topic that I know you don't actually fail to grasp this, you're just doing that thing where you act so above something that you pretend to not be cognizant of it at all, like you're beyond such a base action of drinking beer. It's kind of frustrating, actually, for one of the few people on here with a passion for discussing their beliefs and the cogency to not sound like a child, to have such a flippant attitude to such a harmless question. 6407

It would be massively inefficient to put a thorium reactor in a car for the same reason you don't have a petroleum refinery built into your internal combustion engine. When thorium reactors finally gain traction, they'll be used in power plants to power, among every other electronic device, battery-powered cars.

I didn't allow small children at my wedding, either. It's pretty douchey to go against the request of the bride and groom, and if someone had brought their kid, my ushers wouldn't have seated them. They'd be asked to wait outside of the sanctuary until the ceremony was over.

Serious / Re: "Ford’s new car automatically slows down when it sees a speed limit sign."« on: March 29, 2015, 05:17:45 PM »Quote For now, the automatic deceleration can be overridden by pressing firmly on the accelerator. Amusingly, you can also tell the car to decelerate to 5mph above the speed limit—so you can actively choose to do 35 in a 30 if you so wish. Yeah, that sounds safe. Driving on an interstate at 80mph, having your car suddenly let off the gas, then having to smash the pedal down, all potentially in traffic. No way that could go wrong. Edit: It's in Europe, so convert mph to stones per fortnight or whatever they use over there. 6416

Serious / Re: Indiana Law: Business Owners Can Refuse Service to Anyone« on: March 29, 2015, 05:07:39 PM »Genuine question: There isn't one. Like I said earlier in the thread, it's not about not wanting to serve gay people, it's about not wanting to participate in activities which are contrary to one's convictions. A religious person may not support gay marriage, so they don't want to contribute to one, hence the disparity between a birthday cake and a wedding cake; they would make the former, but not the latter. Another example would be a liberal-leaning business refusing to cater for a conservative rally or meeting. 6418
