There is no evidence to suggest that the Death Penalty is an effective deterrent though.
Not to mention the astronomical costs the taxpayer has to bear the brunt of to try and get someone convicted for the death penalty. Bureaucracy isn't cheap funnily enough.
It's about punishment, not deterrent. I think Tsarnaev deserves to be executed for his participation in the bombing. As for cost, while the trial for the death penalty is more expensive than a trial for life in prison, when you factor in the actual cost of incarcerating someone for life, it far exceeds that of the trial. Regardless, justice shouldn't be meted out based on cost.

But anyways, do you *really* think that Dzhokar will have free education, entertainment, and exercise other than the bare minimum? It doesn't mean that just because he gets life in prison, that he'll get access to all of those things. The US is gonna become a shitstorm if they give them any of those things.
Well yeah, of course. It depends on what prison he goes to, but he'll have access to the basics.

Recognition of his guilt, which he shows no signs of currently.
No, I meant what I said. FFS he's like 21 now. Explain to me how being locked in a maximum security prison for 50-60 years is lighter than being quickly and (close to) painlessly executed.
Regardless of all but the most extreme circumstances (Federal prison no being one of them), life is always preferable to death. I don't think living in prison is more of a punishment than death.
Then how come you have many inmates stuck in those situations either committing suicide or being placed on suicide watch? Clearly, the prisoners actually in that position think otherwise.
Okay, and there are people outside of prison that commit suicide, too. That doesn't mean death is better than life. Tsarnaev is more than welcome to kill himself in prison.

He'll live relatively comfortably, he'll have access to free education, healthcare, reading, entertainment, food, and exercise. I'd rather not see the guy responsible for hundreds of ruined lives get that treatment.

Life in prison with a plea of guilty, death penalty otherwise.
Why should he get the death penalty to begin with? For bombing the marathon. And why should he get a lighter punishment for not pleading guilty? [I think you meant to say "for pleading guilty"]
Recognition of his guilt, which he shows no signs of currently.

Okay. How is it then?
If you don't want to see the gore/porn, then don't click on the spoiler. End of story.
There's nothing constructive about gore or porn, and it drastically degrades the quality of the content here. Cheat is gearing this to be a (relatively) welcoming gaming-related community with professional ties to other communities; obscene content degrades that.

Because it's a hilarious first name and I don't think Palpatine's first name should've just been dropped like that. Idk, it just feels like it got rid of his air of mystery, and I can't take a name like "Sheev" seriously.
Yeah, I kind of liked it when he had no first name, and 'Sheev' is pretty terrible.

i didn't think it was sudden at all
he was showing shades of vaderism as far back as the middle of episode ii
Of course, but there's a huge leap between killing a bunch of sub-humans torturing his mother and killing a mentor then slaughtering children.

Emperor Shiev wut
Palpatine was not given a first name in any canonical or "Star Wars Legends" sources until 2014, when the character's first name—Sheev—was revealed in the novel Tarkin, written by James Luceno.[1] The Lucasfilm Story Group approached Del Rey Books and asked if they wanted to use the name, which was created by George Lucas, in the Tarkin novel, to which Del Rey agreed.[4] And I misspelled it, fuck
Okay, why are you using his first name? That's not really how titles work. But on topic, while I love Plinkett reviews, I really disagree that the fight lacked emotion. It wasn't subtle, but I really enjoyed the imagery of the fires in the background, fighting on platforms that are literally melting away; it's a great (if overbearing) metaphor for their relationship, for Anakin's light side, and for the whole prophecy. I enjoy the fight, and without any words you can see the strain it's taking on Obi-Wan. I really like that a lot of each other's style is mirrored in the other, and the few parts where their technique syncs up exactly, while a bit cheesy, are the most emotional points of the fight. I love the ESB fight, and I love this fight, for different reasons. There was never going to be any suspense in the finale of the Episode 3; we know Vader gets dismembered, we know Obi-Wan survives, and we know Padme dies. My biggest complaint about Episode 3 is how suddenly Anakin devolves into Vader; the fight on Mustafar really nails that descent into madness, and I think this fight should have been the climax of the film, with Vader then carrying out the invasion of the Temple.

Any word on what this is supposed to be?
Stealing the death star plans.
...Okay. Film, show, mini-series, game?
Movie, you didn't know?
Why would I have asked the question if I already knew the answer?

So should the law automatically disqualify the rapist from any right to custody?

Scenario 1: A man rapes a woman, she gets pregnant and gives birth. Under any circumstances, should the rapist have any amount of custody over the child, and should he be required to pay child support?
Scenario 2: A woman rapes a man, she gets pregnant and gives birth. Who should get custody over the child, assuming both want it? Should the woman have to pay child support?

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was it really that great? i haven't heard it, but i hear nothing but praise about it
Kanye's an asshole (IMO it's just his shtick as an entertainer) but he makes amazing music, if you're into hip hop. If you've never heard it, you'll recognize almost every song from being sampled or used in dozens of other songs or settings.

Some big ones:
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Blue Scholars - Bayani
The Killers - Sam's Town
Johnny Cash - American III: Solitary Man
Gorillaz - Demon Days
I want to include Stadium Arcadium but they should have cut half the tracks and focused on making a solid single album.

His parents are divorced, and his mother (who has custody) is abusive. Okay, is there actually any evidence of this? She never raised her voice at him in the video, and all he's claiming is that they argue a lot, she slammed a door, and that she and her husband cornered him. The situation is messed up, but this just seems like pretty typical teenage stuff. I had similar behavior as a kid, and I'm sure many of you did too. Unless there's any evidence of abuse beyond some pissy 14-year-old, then I don't see any reason to label her as an abusive parent.

As much as I hate to admit it, because I really dislike the model the Pokemon series uses, but the games are pretty damn fun on the 3DS. There are plenty of other good games out there, too.

They're only really much more useful than normal computers because they can do certain computations that normal computers can't. I'm not sure how the general public will be able to make use of those applications.
You're aware that part of the appeal of quantum computers is security right? I'm sure everybody would love a quantum locked computer that only they could look at the contents inside or even know how to access the content.
In fact, that's how some of our computer security functions today. Very, very basic level quantum understanding involving particle spin.
Except quantum computers don't do that at all. I'm not sure what made you believe they work like some sort of virtual Schrödinger's Cat experiment, but they don't. In fact, if quantum computers became mainstream, cryptography would be a serious issue because they could decrypt passwords far quicker than even a modern supercomputer.
