Ham or Turkey?
Depends on what it's in and what sort of mood I'm in. I don't generally like Turkey though. It's sort of like chicken, but crappier.

Yeah well fuck you too, guy.

I'm not sure who this guy is, but he's basically equating transgenderism with playing dress-up. I think it goes a bit deeper than that, psychologically, but I don't think I could possibly care less about the Kardashian and Jenner families.

This is the band that did the song "Beast" from the Bioshock Infinite trailer. Some really great stuff.

Never been banned because I'm a straightedge loser.

The Unsullied are supposed to be supreme badasses, but in the show they seem to exist solely to add on-screen deaths without killing actual characters.

I'm loving how a mob of what are supposed to be pissed off noblemen playing hashashin with a couple of daggers seem to shit all over professional soldiers.

And a fucking dragon. I thought the scene in the book was just fine, and having Jorah kill that lone assassin would have been plenty.

It works fine. Troubleshoot human error instead of blaming the OS.
There's lots of people who have trouble getting it to run.
Human error isn't the problem.

Well I and many others have been able to run it on Windows 8, so clearly it is possible, and failure to run is directly related to something that the user is not doing, such as tweaking the ini file.

LotR is bad and people who love Tolkien's books should feel bad.

I can't stand his writing. He's such a bad storyteller that I'm convinced The Hobbit was either a fluke or written by someone else. He's a fantasy genius and is great at worldbuilding, but LotR is unreadable to me.

i've heard some people say it like MAY-duh

i wanna punch them
lol

pretty certain the only greek letter you pronounce that way is beta

Beta is pronounced 'beeta' (closer to 'veeta' actually). In math, beta, eta, theta, and zeta are pronounced the same, like 'bay ta'.

Episode was a bit underwhelming

You are out of your goddamn mind. We got the death of a recurring character, an incredible fight scene, and a huge advancement in Dany's story.
The fight scene was pretty poorly choreographed

And the CGI was terrible but the episode was still amazing. And the finale is definitely going to be the Battle of Winterfell, so you can bet on that being awesome, too.

It's no different than chewing nicotine gum, but the culture around it is pretty annoying. It reminds me of kids in grade school "smoking" candy cigarettes.

I really don't think anyone but the almost non-existent neofeminist Tumblr-nazis believe it's okay to hit men.

Feminism is about leveling the playing field for all, not elevating one team above another.

5571
I think it's more about shifting drug treatment from being punitive to rehabilitative. Nobody's suggesting we let people sell the stuff en masse, but I'm definitely in favor of ensuring we don't treat druggies by locking them up.

I prefer Ashton cigars.

Take for example,  gay people.  Cut out the Sharia Law part of the paragraph, and he'll make it seem like he's all for gays not having rights or "privileges ".
Ah, I was only thinking of immigrants.

It can be taken either way, given how vague the statement would be if he didn't include Sharia Law
fuck gay people

Serious / Re: If you're a man, you're part of rape culture
« on: June 07, 2015, 09:22:09 AM »
I think we do have a rape culture. A rape hysteria culture. It's pretty much overtaken murder in terms of controversy at this point.

Oh, rape is definitely worse than murder these days. A decent example is Game of Thrones, because of its recent rape controversy in which a main character was sexually assaulted by another character whose entire plotline until now had been slowly torturing and maiming a guy through castration and other psychological and physical means. Nobody gave a shit about that, or the dozens of brutal murders depicted in the show.

Prepare yourself.

Some guy posted the following comment, and was subsequently shut down by several women telling him his viewpoint is invalid because he's a man:

The better article is the primary source this guy cited: http://www.oneinfourusa.org/statistics.php

The secondary picture of the facts given by this guy is riddled with rigid gender categories and further bound up in some uncritical acceptance of gender essentialism. Statements like "How are you part of rape culture? Well, I hate to say it, but it’s because you’re a man" or "women spend most of their social lives with ever-present, unavoidable feelings of vulnerability" are sweeping generalizations that reduce any person of that gender's agency to null. In fact, according to the language used here, rape culture is some primordial, foundational feature of reality that can't be escaped, even if we do (and should) give proper deference and respect to each individual's sexual agency and identity. Yet, it's not the everyday man who walks down the street who perpetuates rape culture - according to the same stats cited by our author, fraternity males are three times more likely to engage in this kind of injurious behavior. Indeed, the ones who commit these acts are usually men who premeditate the act, use alcohol to incite the situation, and are generally of malicious and manipulative disposition. So it should be unsurprising that these specific types of behavioral disposition in men would correlate closely to the profile of a rapist or someone who perpetuates rape culture. Yet, these individuals are in no way representative of the entire male population. To even call it "rape culture" is to accept its socially constructed and malleable nature. The solution is not to blame men in a monolithic swath, nor to victimize all women as by-definition vulnerable in the same breath - the crux of the rape culture issue is completely in the hands of the small minority of chauvinistic and manipulative men who have been brought up (and will bring their children up) in that constructed social reality, all of which further propagates the problem. These types of psychological deficiencies - like racism - are not essential or necessary features of the physiological and sociological features that make a man "a man."

Aside from my problem with camping gender into inescapably rigid binaries that propagate some sort of necessary psychological features to each party, I will say that any and all articles that properly cite harrowing rape statistics are on the right track. Just be wary of statements and arguments that would revoke your agency to defect from these regressive "cultures."

My question about this whole discussion is, how is this conversation happening in modern America? If anyone dared to write a similar article about white people being victimized by racial minorities, like being scared to walk down the street at night and pass some black guy in a hoodie, they'd get called a racist. But here it's perfectly okay to say that all men need to do whatever they can to make other women feel comfortable in their presence.

By the definition presented in the article, we do not have a rape culture. Rape is universally vilified, reporting rates are on the rise, rape laws are as sophisticated as ever, and are still improving. Name one popular television show or movie that normalizes rape rather than making it the most heinous act one person could do to another -- and let me clarify that I'm only referring to women getting raped, since male rape is a running gag in Hollywood.

I really don't take part in these discussions usually, but this article just stood out.
