The Flood / Re: Your first relationship
« on: August 12, 2015, 06:19:48 PM »
Well, I guess I should answer.
It was fucking painful.

I mean, it was actually painful fucking.

I had sex

Gay sex

Really gay painful sex

Drunken gay painful teen anal sex

And then maybe one month later never wanted anything more to do with him. Such is life.
Is this a metaphor for you joining the Army?

This chick better not have a come-to-Jesus moment and join the Republic. I hope she murders Chewie and dies in flames in Ep. IX.

I had girlfriends in high school but my first real relationship was with my wife. Met her between junior and senior year, dated through high school and college working at the same places, and then married her four days after I graduated.

I don't want you to think I was ignoring this idea; I've just had other stuff to do. I will look into this when I get around to that area of the site, but it may not be for a while, as I'd have to change every single tag individually, most likely.

Oh, I was hoping it was something that would be quick to change. Thanks for looking into it when you get the time.

The Flood / Re: Does explaining the joke kill the humor?
« on: August 12, 2015, 04:45:38 PM »
In some cases it may, but quite a few jokes rely on irony or post-hoc explanations to be funny. If you've ever heard a joke, not laughed, and then later on finally understood it and laughed, I think you've answered the question.

People are mad because a white dude will do something just as bad but he however will be taken in alive. These actions tell the black population that their lives means less than that of a white man's.

If you're fucking lucky the police will also take you to burger king. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/7645216

The man accused of gunning down nine people inside a historic black church in South Carolina was "polite" and "quiet" while he was in police custody
I can play this game all day.
What really? He had good manners? Oh well forget even trialling him for murder, let him go free.
He didn't reach for a cops gun. That's why he's alive.

Checkmate, Dindus.
No one really knows what happened in the Michael Brown shooting.
All evidence in conjunction with the judicial and independent autopsies points to one series of events.
Really, denying it at this point is like denying evolution or climate change.
Evidence?
I'm not going to spoon feed. Research the case better yourself. You'll learn more that way.
I have, the wiki says that he either reached for the weapon or close to his hand when it went off. It's not definitive

A large number of people believe that Brown was running away, or at least had his hands up and was surrendering. The evidence that he was in the car, with his hands near the officer's weapon, corroborate the officer's (and eyewitness) testimony.

unfortunately something like this is never going to happen in the near future, because when the majority of americans hear the words "more taxes" they flip out and veto that policy to hell.
I would be PROUD knowing that my tax dollars are helping build the next generation of doctors, engineers, and scientists. Yes, even the humble writers and artists. Fuck anyone who wouldn't be. Like, FUCK them. Fuck them with every object within reach.

This brings up an interesting caveat; would you (or anyone else reading this) support free tuition for "essential" degrees like technical and medical fields, while disregarding others like arts?

Not sure why people are saying Sanders is the best proponent of BLM of all the candidates. Is it because he appears to be a hardcore liberal? He's actually completely avoided the subject and relegates apparent oppression solely to economic factors which he can fix with his nonsensical economic policy. He really just doesn't get what modern racial oppression is, and that really has nothing to do with whether he saw MLK's most famous speech in-person. Don't forget that this guy endorsed Jesse Jackson for president twice.

Meanwhile we've got Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio being far more outspoken about racial issues. I sympathize with a lot of liberal positions but I can't fathom how Sanders is so popular beyond his annoying viral marketing campaign.
Because Sanders has been a friend to civil rights for the better half of a century. He was at rallies with MLK Jr.

Jeb and Rubio hardly have that kind of history.

http://www.alternet.org/election-2016/20-examples-bernie-sanders-powerful-record-civil-and-human-rights-1950s

I don't see how his actions in his youth explain his hesitation to speak about the issue today or vindicate his terrible plans for the economy.
What do his economic plans have to do with civil rights?

His racial equality platform is entirely centered on economic reforms and he refuses to address current events or recognize that there may be a problem more substantial than black people being poor.

Get whatever you like. I like to listen to Johnny Cash on my record player because the pops and scratches add to his mood and style.

I'd rather it not be essential for a decent shot at a good life in the first place. Making it free is a temporary solution and won't fix anything in the long run.

I'd argue that there are tons of other avenues to achieve a well-paid, rewarding career without it, and many stepping stones to a degree beyond the traditional right-out-of-high-school approach, but the need for more skills and technical expertise is a historical precedence that will never stop until singularity or high-level automation.

When adding HTML tags to format a post, they appear adjacent to each other, like [spoiler][/spoiler]. On mobile, it can be difficult to position the cursor between the two sets of brackets to type, and it's even worse if you have to double tap to paste some text (like a link or a quote).

To fix this, all that would need to be done is to include an indent or return after the first one, so it appears like this:
[spoiler]
[/spoiler]

That way we can tap to the right and easily start typing. Just thought I'd throw that out there; maybe I'm the only one that would feel convenienced by this, but if you've also been frustrated by the current format, show your support.

Serious / Should an undergraduate education be free?
« on: August 11, 2015, 08:39:13 PM »
Pretty simple question. The means doesn't really matter, as long as it exists (i.e., no magically free tuition; someone is paying for it). This could be through taxation of specific groups, flat taxes, consumption taxes, mandatory tuition caps, work-study programs, forced employee benefits for college, government-funded scholarships akin to a guaranteed basic income, or any other program.

Gaming / Fallout 4 leaked footage...on Pornhub
« on: August 11, 2015, 06:53:18 PM »
http://www.pornhub.com/view_video.php?viewkey=ph55c9411b0ddaa

Link's NSFW, obviously. The video picks up around 1:45.

Observations:
  • Ragdoll physics appear to be toned down; dying enemies collapse less ridiculously
  • Scaled enemies appear to be more prominent than in previous games (e.g., "Legendary Feral Ghoul Roamer" alongside "Feral Ghouls".
  • Enemies, at least ghouls, appear more dynamic. As the player was shooting them, sometimes they would seem to be stunned, potentially by targeting limbs. And instead of immediately dying, at least one enemy was shown crawling on the ground before being executed by the player.
  • FPS play looks much more solid than F3 or NV.
  • Hacking computers is extremely similar to the previous titles
  • Dogmeat's commands are pretty easy, and don't require the awkward zoom-in dialog options
  • VATS kill-cams look less jerky and awkward than previous titles
  • What seems to be a laser shotgun looks fucking awesome

Maybe if they actually spoke in detail precisely what is supposed to be remotely offensive about these terms, I might be able to see where they're coming from.

It would still be stupid, but...

I'm not sure if it's linked in the article, but the original post has a decent amount of detail for each entry, with several recommended substitutes for the words. It's very thorough, but still nonsensical.

I saw this a while ago and basically the university relegated it to the silly statements of a few individuals, not at all a standard accepted or enforced by the university. The list is pretty extensive (and ridiculous), though.

I was going through security in Phoenix and my backpack had to get hand-checked because there were heavy books that the x-ray couldn't see through. Well I had a Rubik's cube in there too because I'm learning how to solve them and I had it at a specific setup so I could practice, and when I looked at it at the gate it had been completely scrambled.

What an asshole.
