I always thought Cap and Iron Man should have been on the opposite sides. Tony Stark fighting for federal regulation of super people is pretty ridiculous.

I don't really care.

Apathy is a horrible trait.

The delusion that there is any sort of "right to privacy" is as well.

Oh, so because you don't believe in it means it should be irrelevant for blah blah blah

You demand interconnected services, fast and catered shopping and search results, and a highly personalized and dynamic experience, while expecting to retain control over that information. It's a fantasy. In order to provide these services, companies need databases, and those databases are populated with basic identity information and tons of metadata about users.
I don't need any of those things which is why I don't use any of those things.
You don't use free gmail, social media, forums, YouTube, shopping services, or search engines? Then what's all the bitching about?

Oh, so because you don't believe in it means it should be irrelevant for everyone else.

That's probably one of the most retarded things I've ever heard. Just so happens being retarded is a horrible trait, too.

Lol.

The only "definition" of a right to privacy in the United States judicial system is the 4th Amendment - which does not apply to data mining because that data does not belong to you - it belongs to the ISP's that provide you access.

If you are that afraid that you are being violated, the Internet is not a necessity. You chose to use it, you pay for access. What you do is not entitled to any sort of protection.
Contents of my local disk and email do not belong to anyone.

Presumably, your emails are the property and responsibility of Google, but the conditions you agree to give you tacit and explicit, legal ownership over then.

Nobody is stealing your emails or reading them. Your operating system absolutely needs to be able to detect programs and data on your local disk to function, and you absolutely don't have a right to use pirated software.

And it absolutely should disable pirated software, that poses a security risk to the user and is also illegal.
Calm down Stalin

Also, I'm running 10 with unlicensed software so I doubt the veracity of that claim.

4777
If I continue to demand free services then I don't really have an issue with something as benign as sharing my browsing or shopping trends.
But what about Windows 10 scanning the contents of your local disk and Gmail keeping copies of all your emails? We're talking about practices that go way beyond browsing history

That's not done, though. Not sure where you're getting your information, but clickbait news stories don't count.

"Windows 10 can scan your local disk and disable pirated software."

You're telling me my operating system can detect software on the hard disk it's running off of?

No shit, man. And it absolutely should disable pirated software, that poses a security risk to the user and is also illegal.
Its also an invasion of privacy and nice job dodging the Gmail thing.

Read my post.

It's not at all an invasion of privacy. Use open source options if you don't want that type of system regulation on your computer.

The Guardian link really has nothing to do with Windows as far as I can tell. Google os not entitled to read my emails, which is clearly stated there.

You can't say that for certain.

That's an incredibly weak rebuttal.
You can't truly know the capabilities of software without the source code. Windows is closed source.
The source code really has nothing to do with it. 10 is just a variation of the NT kernel, and I have no doubt it's capable of stealing all of that. But there's no evidence it's being done.

I don't care, if Google wants to know when I browse reddit then sure. It really doesn't effect me it's not like they're stealing my money.
do you have a gmail?
Multiple
are you aware all your emails are stored by Google and can be retrieved and read at any time by the NSA and other government organizations right?

Probably shouldn't be fear-mongering in Serious. There are legitimate arguments that could be made which don't involve misinformation.

I guess he doesn't realise the same thing happens with sports, only you have to pay to watch it.
Watching professional athletes isn't at all akin to watching a 26 year old play a casual video game with a sarcastic commentary.
right

it's more akin to listening to a comedian, but with an entertaining visual

either way, jimmy kimmel is being an ignorant shithead

I think they're both missing the mark. People watch them not to experience the video game (though that may be a part of it) but to hear entertaining or insightful commentary. Nobody watches Pewdiepie because he's good at games (like the sports comparison).

I agree with Kimmel in the sense that I don't find those things entertaining in the slightest, but his joke falls flat.

Serious / How to Identify and Resist Cultural Appropriation
« on: August 28, 2015, 04:16:08 PM »
http://www.pachamama.org/blog/how-to-identify-and-resist-cultural-appropriation

Quote
A series of steps you may follow if you wish to be more mindful about cultural appropriation:

Try to identify parts of your outfit or vocabulary that may be borrowed from other cultures and envision how a person of that culture may react to the way you are wearing or saying it.
Think about whether the piece of clothing or phrase in question is being used respectfully and is aligning with the traditions of its cultural origins.
Can what you are wearing or saying have the potential to perpetuate stereotypes that exist about a certain culture?
By following these steps, we are better fit to identify cultural appropriation and are being sensitive to and respectful of all cultures.

So just a reminder: all cultures should be separate, respect is shown by isolation and prohibiting wear of cultural symbols, and it's okay to project your feeling of insecurity onto minorities because you assume they probably feel sad about things like that.

Also, please cease wearing the following clothes immediately because they were influenced by other cultures:

Boots, ties, peacoats, bomber jackets, t-shirts, tuxedos, and 8-point caps. Those are all from foreign militaries and they deserve to be kept culturally pure. Other items from various cultures include Uggs, denim jeans, cowboy hats, ponchos, Hawaiian shirts, berets, moccasins, and eye liner. For a more complete respect of cultures, please just stop wearing clothing, listening to music, watching television, enjoying art, or partaking of drugs. Because it's your job as a white American to think carefully about what you think is offensive to others.

oh no i bet the gubbernments is putting microchip nanites in my corn too
GMOs are essentially microchips in terms of what they accomplish.

Except they're organic and far cheaper to mass produce.

Dude that would be badass. I wish that's what GMOs did.

-License to purchase a weapon that must be renewed every 5 years
-All guns must be kept in a safe when not being used
-Random checkups to ensure you're following he law
-Mandatory background checks with mental evaluations when purchasing a weapon and a license
How does this hinder criminals except through mild inconvenience?
Because criminals won't be able to purchase guns like they can now. In the long run it would be harder for them to illegally buy rifles as they slowly fall out of circulation.

Literally none of this impacts which guns can be bought or even how easily. It just means they have to buy a safe and have a background check, which is very common already.

-Ban open carry
-Concealed carry is only licened to a person if they're in an emergency
-Ban private sales of firearms

Yes it's the United States of Freedom.

Fortunately, I'll turn 21 a couple of months after I arrive, so I won't have to put up with your fascistic alcohol laws.

Where are you going?
Not a clue yet. I was thinking maybe California, but it's full of fucking LIBERALS.

Speaking of fucking, with that accent you're going to get all sorts of laid. Just memorize some Shakespeare or other poetry.
