I'll just post this again since I agree with the majority the points made
They never evacuated the school because they though he had a hoax bomb. He pulled a big digital clock out of its case and put it in a pencil box that looks like an attache case you see used for bombs and money in old movies.
that doesn't make it any better, if that's the case then it seems like they only had him arrested in spite
Out of spite for making a fake bomb and bringing it to school?
Yes, I mean whilst their initial suspicions are fairly justified considering previous attack on schools in the US but I think to have him arrested is taking it too far. Did they not establish that it was a clock and/or safe upon inspection in the principles office? Did he go around waving that it was a bomb? No
I don't really think the school had a say in whether or not he was arrested after someone called the police fearing a kid had brought a fake bomb to class. No charges were filed against him. The media sensationalism of this story is ridiculous.

I don't imagine anything before the big bang, because matter and energy as we know it did not exist before the big bang, nor did time. It's like asking what someone looked like before they were born.

Destiny is fun as hell. More power to the people that have played the same worn-out content for an entire year. A story would've been nice but a game doesn't need to really have a traditional plot structure to be fun or good.
That said, Bungie straight up lied about many facets of the game which resulted in a lot of disappointment in what they released.

The Flood changes the host's DNA. Similarly, a severed hand or a corpse couldn't be used either.
And hunters have always been colonies of lekgolo, but the early novels were written before much of the lore had been polished.

I don't like dark liquors. Can't stand the taste of whiskey or bourbon
Vodka/moonshine or gtfo

Just a reminder, he was suspended for having a "mock bomb", not because they actually thought it was a bomb.
C'mon. The kid stuck a big-ass red digital clock in a pencil case designed like a attache briefcase and the whole situation was started when the timer went off repeatedly in class. The kid is smart, so somewhere down the line of designing it he must've realized it's kind of unusual to put a clock in a metal case and have a huge display like cliche 80s movies. He probably did it to look like a movie prop, not realizing its significance.
Worth national news? Nope. Worth a three-day suspension? Probably not. It's not the end of the world.

I'm a little burnt out on dark souls. I would like a game with the same mechanics, but one with a strong narrative, real cutscenes, normal co-op and maybe "puzzle" based bosses rather than reflex based ones
Lords of the Fallen? Definitely agree on more strategic boss fights. Right now they're almost entirely predicated on the player's skill rather than ingenuity.

I'm so out of touch with economics these days that all that empty jargon didn't even register. I just accepted it as legitimate.
Basically Friedman is just assuming it will pay for itself without substantial evidence.
Oh, I meant Friedman's explanation. The bit that your economist buddy pulled out. That didn't even register as dubious.

Thoughts, Meta?
Just sent that article to a couple of economists from various fields; had a reply from one in behavioural:
"As with Senator Sanders' other proposals, the economic boom created by HR 676, including the productivity boost coming from a more efficient health care system and a healthier population, would raise economic output and provide billions of dollars in additional tax revenues to over-set some of the additional federal spending."
This is a great example of why everyone should be cautious about dynamic models.
Maybe Bernie's health plan will improve productivity so much it pays for itself.
Maybe Jeb's tax plan will improve productivity so much it pays for itself.
Neither are especially likely. Budget projections shouldn't include wacky magics.
I'm so out of touch with economics these days that all that empty jargon didn't even register. I just accepted it as legitimate.

Damn you guys have totally changed my views on marriage. As soon as she's back from the store (allowing me to do other things instead) I'll let my wife know that marriage is pointless. It'll be hard losing half my income, but that really wasn't anything important.
Thanks guys!

My wedding cost about $5k not including rings. Parents helped a lot. Had 80 people there, so not too big (big = 100+). Small is nice because it costs less, but it also means fewer gifts. That sounds selfish, but if you're in your early 20s without an established household, you're gonna need them, and it's good to be pragmatic.

I actually kind of sympathize with the school. It was a huge red digital clock in a briefcase with a bunch of wires. The kid wasn't arrested, and I'm not sure how much I believe the kid's claim that the cop said "yeah that's who I thought it'd be". That doesn't even make sense since the kid admits he'd never met or seen him before.
The suspension seems unjustified but this whole thing is pretty silly.

Oh for fuck's sake.
Yes, if veganism were as simple as pulling a lever and saving five animals, many people would ascribe to it. But it's not, because it turns out life is more complicated than a stupid, contrived situation. And just a reminder that eating a vegan diet doesn't actually save any animals; it would take a massive, species-wide change to do so, and that's only feasible once the vast majority of people are living affluent, privileged lifestyles that grant the freedom of wealth to afford an expensive, catered approach to food consumption.

I'd like to try it since I bought the season pass, but I haven't played since last year and I'm worried my level 29 character will be really inadequate for the content, and I absolutely hated all the grinding that was required. Is it any easier to get to the level cap?

Just want to point out that I haven't read the article in the OP, nor have I read this one:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2015/09/15/no-bernie-sanders-is-not-going-to-bankrupt-america-to-the-tune-of-18-trillion/?postshare=4311442369518137
I didn't read the OP, but it this basically confirmed what I thought. It's not in additional expenses, it's just rearranging how we pay for what we already have for the most part.
The WSJ is once again trying to influence the debate with misleading clickbait titles it looks like.
I think there's a middle ground. The WSJ posits a fairly legitimate claim but is countered a bit by the thesis of this article that much of the proposed costs are essentially converted from private spending to taxation. Even in the ballpark of $18 trillion, that's still a massive increase in taxation, no matter how equivalent it is to private spending (which entails a high degree of fiscal autonomy).

Nothing that counters the fact that a single flight burns about 2 months worth of a car's gas budget.
Though I do return plastic bags to the store and recycle hazardous materials like light bulbs and batteries.
