I'm returning the OP. It looks a tad fuzzy.

Your eyes are going bad, old man.

Seems kind of excessive to me.

Does anyone actually not think the guy's a huge asshole? His case was technically self defense but he was obviously culpable for inciting the whole thing.

I mainly stopped eating beef and meats like chicken because of how many hormones they pump into them.

Just a heads up, growth hormones are banned from poultry in the U.S., and it really has no significant effect on beef consumers.
I wouldn't call an increase in breast cancer, prostate cancer, estrogen dominance and autoimmune conditions insignificant.

Except there's no compelling evidence that growth hormones cause those. There is literally no reliable research indicating growth hormones in cattle cause these negative effects, and quite a bit of evidence to the contrary. The amount of residual hormones in the beef is literally measured in the single digits of nanograms. Nuts, peas, and soy all have shitloads -- I'm talking orders of magnitudes -- more than a comparable serving of beef.

Look, I'm all for bodily autonomy and doing what you feel is best for yourself. I am absolutely not trying to criticize your dietary preferences. However, claiming the science is actually on your side is akin to Republicans claiming global warming is fake. It's literally science denial. I'm not talking about the FDA or the WTO; skepticism of what the government says is good, but flat out denial of decades of independent research into this topic is just dumb.

And it really is a fact that growth hormones are banned from poultry, pork, and veal in the U.S. If that's the reason you're pescatarian, then welcome back to being an omnivore.

Yeah, exactly. Don't forget the wounded guy who starts shooting at you and screaming, "You won't turn me into one of them!"
Yeah, if you still didn't have an idea what happened after that then....

When I played it I had no prior knowledge of the Flood. The clues leading up to it told me there was something infectious coming up, but it doesn't really tell you anything about what they look like, how to fight them, or why they're there. That's why it's tension-building; it's not a cold reveal, it's a gradual revelation of the real purpose of the Halo and the plot in general.

Gotta disagree about the plot. It was a fun and refreshing take on a classic narrative with a great mix of horror, adventure, and action. The characters needed to be archetypes so you could jump right into the game, and frankly I appreciate when a developer knows that we don't really give a shit about Foehammer's marital problems and just tells us she's a badass pilot chick. The twists were fun, and the Flood's reveal was masterful in building tension. It wasn't burdened by all the dark pseudo-ethical nonsense of some of the later games and didn't beat us over the head with the relationship between Chief and Cortana; Chief was a blank slate for the player, exactly as Bungie intended.

Can we science the shit out of it?
that one line has turned me off to a movie that otherwise looked decent

It sounds completely retarded coming from a character who's supposed to be a goddamn astronaut.

Bazinga/10 humor, only high school dropouts and community college graduates need apply.

He's a goofy guy, and that's by no means the most flippant thing he says in the book. He sends boob text art to NASA and frequently talks about shitting in his garden. He's not meant to be a hardass action hero, he's just a silly nerdy guy that got left on Mars.

Oh yeah generally Aussies like to run around a lot, do you have a large backyard?

We have a small enclosed yard but there's a ton of open, grassy fields around my house and several great dog parks so there's plenty of room to run around.
So anytime the dog is outside it will be on a leash, under supervision, or enclosed yard right? I only ask because I grew up in a rural area where our dogs were allowed to run around free but because of that they loved to chase vehicles (Aussies do since they're cattle dogs) driving past on the dirt road. Lost several dogs to being ran over.

Definitely. Our community has pretty strict leash laws.

Not sure what you mean. I'm talking about having several years of being able to take her on runs and hikes before she gets too old to do those sort of things. I'm a pragmatic guy so if it came off as callous, let me clarify that that's not what I intended.

Chally 101
Just like in the 80's when all the top scientists and government officials told us marijuana causes psychosis. Or when steroids were encouraged in the 30's, with top scientists telling us there were no adverse effects.

Somebody has to not be a sheep.

This is an awfully convenient way to deny reality.
Go ahead and continue to believe hormones and chicken breasts the size of human female's are healthy to eat.

Okay.

those white whiskers are pretty telling,,,

the dog looks like it's 14 years old... pay attention to her health when you see her.

I didn't even think to question her age. The white hair looks like it's confined to her muzzle, and it's common for lighter coats to whiten quicker. I'll definitely pay close attention when she visits though. If she really is as active as they say I wouldn't imagine she's over 10.

6 year old Aussie Shepherd. A bit old but still young enough to have 4-5 years of activity. Seems pretty chill and I really like her colors. We've got a home inspection coming up and she'll be coming with the foster owner, so I'll see her in a few days.

I'm really liking the new content. I never needed an intense plot, but it's nice to have some narration and banter to add to the characters. I was never one to complain about the lack of explanation for things; it's a fantasy game set in space, magic is magic and the different 'races' don't need explaining. The leveling system is much better, and within a couple days I had met the level cap and acquired good gear. Definitely a good time to replay.

Not sure the standards the Brits use but you need to cut that time in half.

As for IT stuff, wouldn't the RAF have more positions for that? Here in the U.S. the Air Force is basically composed of pilots and tech support.
Yeah... that's like, walking speed.
I've got 16:36 to do my two mile.

Shouldn't there be more mechanics than anything else in the air force?

A lot of the mechanics stuff, at least on the Navy side, is contracted to civilians. At least ashore, that is. We don't have any sailors maintaining our planes here.

Can anybody give me the downsides of a basic income guarantee? It seems like a decent idea, especially coupled with removal of wage laws, but I haven't read any actual criticism of it.
It incentivizes joblessness.
Do we wish to be a society that uses hunger and survival to incentivize work?

I was just telling you the major opposition. I support a guaranteed minimum income.

This isn't an issue of greedy companies or standards of living. A job's value is not contingent on how much renting an apartment costs, it's determined by market value (unless propped up by regulation, which is demonstrably harmful to the economy). All the arguments about oppressing the poor and being able to live comfortably are nice, but they don't have any bearing on the discussion of wages.

So there are two basic camps: mandating higher wages from companies, or subsidizing income through various means. Pick one and talk about it.

I'm not sure what thread you think you wandered into, but I was asking specifically which supplemental income or welfare plan you support.

Who cares if it doesn't require education or anyone could do it given a day or two of training, the person is working and they are doing something productive
Clearly the economy cares, since the existence of a minimum wage means those jobs are artificially valued above what they're actually worth. You can't just magically make more money appear by raising that minimum wage, and it's not a constraint of capitalism that an increase in the cost of labor will result in an increase in price of goods sold or a decrease in the demand for labor; that's simply how economy works, in any form. So when confronted with the knowledge that, despite not being the intention of said positions, minimum wage is currently "supporting" nearly 5% of all hourly workers, and that itself is an issue due to rising costs of living coupled with a higher expectation of quality of life, what do you believe is a good policy solution?

This seems like a very vilified opinion. The notion that most minimum wage jobs are not meant to raise a family or support a moderately affluent lifestyle is a controversial one.

Liberals tend to respond by saying there should be more welfare options (including minimum wage increases and other regulation). Conservatives respond by suggesting a negative income tax or some other minimum living wage program.

What do you think?

Can't stand Drake's rapping. His R&B is pretty good. I think Diamonds Dancing is my favorite on the album.

Honestly it's pretty bad though. I don't know how people enjoy rappers mumbling into a microphone with stupid lyrics ("I got a big team, they need some really big rings, they need some really nice things"? Fucking seriously?).
To be completely honest, that's my favorite song on the tape so far. I think the beat and energy has a lot to do with it. But yeah lyrically it's not the best one.

Yeah I thought all of it except the chorus lines was great.
