To be fair, western Yoga really is a bastardization of Indian yoga, which is a deeply spiritual ritual. Here it's just a bit of exercise with some new age fluff thrown in.

Nien Nunb is back to save the galaxy. Muthafucka should be a five star general by now.

Some of this CG is so distractingly bad...

0:10 to 0:15, and Finn fighting the stormtrooper...

The way Glenn escaped wasn't even that implausible.

I don't understand how Glenn fell off a dumpster and ended up with his head right next to it.

Maybe a civil law, like non-criminal speeding, jaywalking, etc. Even then, speeding puts other drivers and pedestrians in danger to some extent. In general, I think one's view of justice and crime is fundamentally warped if they believe a crime can be excused simply because it went unobserved.

Oh good, then Negan can kill him for real.

I wonder if they'd be able to pull it off as a surprise death (for those that don't read the comic) by making fans think he's safe now.

Haven't taken a materials class in a long time, but off the top of my head (and Googling to double check)
What materials are soft and brittle
Most metals at extremely high temperatures (the Twin Towers demonstrated this viscoelasticity when their support structures failed due to high stress and temperature). Most woods are also fairly soft and brittle.

or hard and elastic? I've never heard of any acting like that.
Vulcanized rubber.
Huh, does that assumption at least hold true to most materials then? Even though hardness and brittleness aren't related, I mean.

Oh yeah. In general, a hard material will also be brittle, you're right about that.

I wish in one of these games you could unite the factions or at least clear up their misconceptions. The Brotherhood hate the Institute...because robots are abominations, apparently? The Institute has the brightest minds on the East Coast and they don't even question the personhood of robots specifically designed to be increasingly aware and autonomous, with personalities literally downloaded from human brains? The Railroad seems pretty justified but still unwilling to cooperate with anyone; the Brotherhood have no reason to go after these people.

"The fundamental constants are 'fine-tuned' to be consistent with the existence of life in the Universe," Stadnik told Phys.org. "If the physical constants were even slightly different, life could not have appeared. The discovery of varying fundamental 'constants' may help shed important light on how the physical constants came to have their life-sustaining values today. We simply appeared in an area of the Universe where they are consistent with our existence."

Dark Matter is still just a placeholder for whatever components of higher physics we can't figure out; there's something there, but for all we know it's just ignorance of the complexity of math we're dealing with.

That's precisely what makes dark matter so interesting

Yeah it's interesting, but that isn't an excuse to use it to justify whatever theory they feel like testing.

“The advantage is it’s so much tougher, stronger, harder than glass. It provides better protection in more hostile environments—so it can withstand sand and rain erosion.”
Either he's using words wrong for media points, or something in physics changed where hardness is no longer positively correlated with brittleness.

Hardness and brittleness don't really have anything to do with each other. Hardness is a material's resistance to indentation and brittleness is breaking without significant plastic deformation. Something could be hard and brittle, or soft and brittle, or hard and not brittle, or soft and not brittle. Just depends on the material.

She's a journalist for The National Review, not a Fox reporter; they bring her on the show to say stupid shit so the Fox guys can laugh at her. Pretty sure at some point she said snoring is a man's way of oppressing women in their sleep.

Great review. Could anyone with experience with the endings comment on each faction's conclusion? Like, how satisfying are they? I'm leaning towards the Railroad because the Institute are assholes and it's fun to fight vertibirds, but if the ending sucks I'll go a different route.

This is absolutely ridiculous, and Dark Matter is still just a placeholder for whatever components of higher physics we can't figure out; there's something there, but for all we know it's just ignorance of the complexity of math we're dealing with. It's not a tangible, measurable substance that we can make any sort of meaningful conclusions about. Also, be aware that all of these observations they're making come from a simulated model of the universe in which dark matter behaves however they think it should. These observations are not from reality.

Aside from sanctuary and taffington boathouse, has anyone found any other locations that are good for water farming?

Not sure what qualities you're looking for, but Ft. Strong is an island that is very defensible. That's my preferred farming spot.

Sharing an apartment? No thank you, I'll have it all to myself.

Cutting your housing cost in half is pretty sweet. My net household income is over 100k and we're sharing all the costs. I'd say being DINKs forever is the most financially prosperous decision.

25 hours clocked and I still don't understand what the Minutemen's aspirations are.

It's pretty obvious that The Railroad want to liberate synths, and the BoS want tech, but the only description we're given for the Minutemen's goals are 'freedumbs.'

They shouldn't even be a faction, they should just be an organization you can help throughout the game by building settlements. Assigning the PC as the general of the Minutemen 5 minutes into the game was pretty silly.

"Thank you all very much for your hospitality. We've just had a -- wide-ranging discussions on -- on the matter at hand. Like the good folks standing with me, the American people were appalled and outraged at last Tuesday's attacks. And so were Muslims all across the world. Both Americans and Muslim friends and citizens, tax-paying citizens, and Muslims in nations were just appalled and could not believe what -- what we saw on our TV screens.

These acts of violence against innocents violate the fundamental tenets of the Islamic faith. And it's important for my fellow Americans to understand that. The English translation is not as eloquent as the original Arabic, but let me quote from the Koran, itself: In the long run, evil in the extreme will be the end of those who do evil. For that they rejected the signs of Allah and held them up to ridicule.

The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam. That's not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace. These terrorists don't represent peace. They represent evil and war. When we think of Islam we think of a faith that brings comfort to a billion people around the world. Billions of people find comfort and solace and peace. And that's made brothers and sisters out of every race -- out of every race. America counts millions of Muslims amongst our citizens, and Muslims make an incredibly valuable contribution to our country. Muslims are doctors, lawyers, law professors, members of the military, entrepreneurs, shopkeepers, moms and dads. And they need to be treated with respect. In our anger and emotion, our fellow Americans must treat each other with respect.

Women who cover their heads in this country must feel comfortable going outside their homes. Moms who wear cover must be not intimidated in America. That's not the America I know. That's not the America I value. I've been told that some fear to leave; some don't want to go shopping for their families; some don't want to go about their ordinary daily routines because, by wearing cover, they're afraid they'll be intimidated. That should not and that will not stand in America. Those who feel like they can intimidate our fellow citizens to take out their anger don't represent the best of America, they represent the worst of humankind, and they should be ashamed of that kind of behavior.

Now this is a great country. It's a great country because we share the same values of respect and dignity and human worth. And it is my honor to be meeting with leaders who feel just the same way I do. They're outraged. They're sad. They love America just as much as I do."

Just a reminder that Putin annexed a sovereign nation and nobody did jack shit about it. The guy's a warmongering piece of shit leading a cult of personality based on propaganda.
Saying Crimea is a "sovereign nation" is the equivalent to saying Alaska is a "sovereign nation."

All for criticising Putin's geopolitical antics but it helps not to twist the facts sometimes.

Crimea had been an autonomous republic for 23 years. Not at all comparable to a US state.

Serious / Re: Arguments against Suicide
« on: November 20, 2015, 09:32:54 PM »
I don't see the argument that suicide hurts those around you to be valid. I think you should condemn suicide for the same reason you would condemn cutting, binge eating, bulimia, or addiction -- that is, because it comes from an illness.

Condemn seems like a harsh word for that. You don't condemn people for any of the things you listed.

You don't condemn addiction, bulimia, or self harm? I recommend you double check the definition if you think it's harsh.

No, I don't condemn. I don't think it should be chastiized. You don't chastize somebody who's addicted, or bulimic, or self harming.

You help them. You don't shame the idea or concept of it like some stone age neanderthal. Because people fall into it fairly often, not by choice. Being surrounded by people who are too keen to condemn it, but do fuck all to help it, aren't exactly the best motivators.

Condemn doesn't mean to chastise, it means to disapprove. If you disapprove of suicide, you condemn it.

It feels like it's only focused on the PC culture/social issues

and while that's fine, I wish they'd offer more diversity and have some of their sillier episodes again.

What ever happened to the aliens and the TV show? That kinda stuff.

Pretty much every episode has had other topics alongside the social commentary.
