Literally slippery slope fallacy.
Yeah but isn't something like "if you are dishonest in little things you will find it easier to be dishonest with greater responsibility" from Proverbs?
It's Luke, and the parable of the unjust steward isn't really about materialism. In this example it's perfectly reasonable (and legal) to take the second item. If one really felt bad about it, just give it away.

If BvS is anything like MoS, it'll be trash. MoS is easily one of the worst Superman films to date.

I think it's important to note that the laws of biology would not necessarily apply if god did not want them to.
I see a lot of Christians use this to explain away anything they can't defend in the scriptures, and I really have to disagree. If we (Christians) are going to say the laws of God are absolute, we can't disregard the physical in justification of the moral.

http://www.cnet.com/news/george-lucas-still-believes-greedo-shot-first/Most fans who grew up with the original cut of the 1977 "Star Wars" contend that Han Solo was the kind of space pirate who didn't wait to see if Greedo was in a negotiating mood before shooting him under the table in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Younger fans think Greedo would have made the first move, shooting before Han could defend himself.
"Han Solo was going to marry Leia, and you look back and say, 'Should he be a cold-blooded killer?' " Lucas told The Washington Post. "Because I was thinking mythologically -- should he be a cowboy, should he be John Wayne? And I said, 'Yeah, he should be John Wayne.' And when you're John Wayne, you don't shoot people [first] -- you let them have the first shot. It's a mythological reality that we hope our society pays attention to."
Interestingly, the article mentions that he hasn't seen a single frame of the new film yet. Anyway, wanting to make a less cold-blooded smuggler out of Han is valid reasoning for the change, but John Wayne straight up murders people all the time in his movies. Oh well.

My wife's talked about this before; she's never been a victim of violence. What are her thoughts on it?
It's just something women are taught by their mothers and by other girls growing up. Never leave your drink alone, never walk alone at night, etc. Some of it's common sense, but it's hard to define the point where you're teaching how to be street smart versus teaching that men are scary.

Uh, what happened?
Last week Tuesday, my teacher read an article about what it means to live as a woman... to always be scared of men. Putting keys in your fist to use as a weapon when walking to your car at night, or crossing the street to avoid walking next to a man whom you're scared of. At first, I didn't think much of it. I kinda assumed they were being dramatic. But a lot of the girls in my class were like "Oh my god, this resonates with me so much." At which point I started to consider it being maybe valid, but I basically chopped it up to people loving their victim complexes. And then, I was on the phone with the girl I love. She started freaking out about a car following her. And all of the things I had read came rushing back.
Luckily, she made it home safe. But the story doesn't end there. I ended up having a nightmare that night. My daughter was assaulted and raped. I woke up balling my eyes out.
So, yeah... I've become a bit more sensitive the last couple of days about this whole situation.
My wife's talked about this before; she's never been a victim of violence. In all seriousness, what is the difference between this and a white person being slightly suspicious of most black people?

Anyways, it's piss easy to avoid overdosing. All drugs are safe. Responsible use is absolutely okay.
I'm for legalization of recreational drugs, but this is such a naive and dangerous statement that it needs to be called out. Responsible use is okay but the primary argument against legalization is that the majority of users are incapable of it, leading to dangerous and expensive addictions.

Nah, I think it gives studios incentive to be good enough to justify the later investment.

the Internet Movie Data Base revealed that the reboot follows Navy Seal Tyler Colt, likely Tom's part, on a mission to find terrorists hiding in a bunker in the Iraqi desert.
The terrorists turn out be grave robbers who have all mysteriously died in the bunker. Tyler and his team soon realize the bunker is actually a centuries-old tomb before they also succumb to some strange force. Tyler is the only one who gets out alive
For fuck's sake.

Planning to watch it. What's the setup? Did Germany develop nukes first or something?
I'm surprised you haven't read the book
I highly respect PKD but for some reason don't really enjoy his novels. I'll pick it up though, it sounds really interesting.

He died for our sins.
WOW, SPOILERS MUCH?!?
We don't even know if he died, though
Spoiler He didn't; he became a ghoul. You can convince him to go to your settlement and he's actual one of the expert traders you can assign to a trading post. What the hell do stores do anyways? Are they worth the investment?
They make you caps, that get stored in the workshop, and you can also buy things from them
The better the trading post, the better the stuff and the more caps they make
How does equipment get stocked? Is it just automatic? Mine were empty after I made them.

No idea. I think they passively earn you caps, but I don't really see the purpose. If you can afford to put on up you probably already have tons of junk you can sell anyway.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying I think it's dumb.
It is. Lucas fucked up his own creation. Yoda and Palpatine should be so strong that they never even have to pull out a lightsaber, or even move around to fight. We see a little bit of that in RotJ with Palpatine's 'battle meditation' or whatever is canon now; he can win huge battles from the comfort of his throne room just by willing it to happen.

It's hard to think of symbols are words that I would find meaningful for my entire life. It'd be cool if there was a more temporary tattoo option.

The only thing that never made sense to me was that Sidious was, for all intents and purposes, defeated by Mace Windu. He was just about to kill him, then Anakin went full retard and ruined everything about literally anything. So why couldn't Yoda have done anything better? Mace wasn't more skilled than Yoda.
Mace was definitely a better duelist than Yoda. IMO, Yoda never should have used a lightsaber, since we've seen time and time again in the EU that there's a lot more to the Jedi than flips and lightsabers and throwing shit with the force.
I feel like that honestly doesn't make any sense.
Yoda is 900 years old. He should definitely be a better duelist than Windu.
He just said there is more to being a jedi than flips and lightsabers...
...Yes, I know. I'm not talking about those aspects of the Jedi skillset.
Yoda's the stronger Jedi, but Mace was an unrivaled swordsman. Yoda fights two Sith lords (Dooku and Palpatine), and loses to both. Mace defeated the Emperor (like it or not, it's canon; Lucas has said Mace was winning the fight, and that Palps wasn't faking it).

Tarantino's releasing the film on Christmas in 95 theaters worldwide in Panavision 70mm (ultrawide format; about twice the size of standard digital projection). It's styled like an oldschool roadshow and includes a musical overture and intermission, as well as additional footage and a special cut of certain action scenes. You can find a list of participating theaters here.So I'm driving from Pensacola, FL to Phoenix for Christmas with my family, and on the way back we're stopping in Texas to see it at the Alamo Ritz theater. Are any of you planning on seeing the roadshow?

Oh, and that pumpkin spice? They won't say what is used to make it, because the chemical used in it has nothing to do with pumpkins and is a carcinogen that causes headaches when consumed to excess (which is why they don't sell it year round, despite it being so popular).
They actually changed it. Removed the dye (which one blogger falsely labeled a carcinogen) and added pumpkin puree.
Are you sure that caramel colour level 4 isn't a carcinogen?
Not like it matters, I only drink black coffee, anyways.
It's not on any list of recognized carcinogens but California claims it "may" be carcinogenic. But yeah, syrup has no place in coffee.

getting flustered over someone not being as scared as you are seems a little bit silly, doesn't it
Am I flustered? Like I said, you don't have a choice in the matter. Humans are evolutionarily hardwired to fear dying. You can feel comfort now by seeing it as an end to the stresses of life, but you can't shut out the physiological response of it.

ITT: people acting hard by pretending they don't fear death
You don't really have a choice in the matter; death is scary to everyone. The notion that I'll just stop existing is terrifying, not to mention the pain of dying by crime, an accident, or disease.
