This just isn't true, though. There are tons of jobs that don't require degrees with plenty of room for advancement and the ability to earn a degree later on to qualify for higher positions.

Far too many jobs in this country (as in, all of them that are worth having) want you to have a degree for that to be true.

This just isn't true, though. There are tons of jobs that don't require degrees with plenty of room for advancement and the ability to earn a degree later on to qualify for higher positions.

"Wall Street speeches"

Can't have our candidate getting paid to speak to those big, mean public corporations now, can we?

Sorry for bumping, but this is the only ED discussion I've seen on here. What do you recommend doing around 10mil? I've mined, traded regular commodities, and now I'm running rares and doing missions that seem fun (nearby smuggling, mostly). I've never tried bounty hunting, but it doesn't seem very profitable. Currently in trading-spec'd Cobra.

I've always thought he's kind of an asshole that thinks random statistics by themselves make decent arguments.

And his videos are like 50% too long.

Cats are great if you want something else alive in the house but no real responsibility, but dogs are more fun.

Started up keto for the summer. High protein, low carb, moderate fat. God-tier cutting plan. I shoot for around 1200-1400 net calories per day, compensating for workouts.

DAILY REMINDER THAT MLK WAS KILLED WHEN HE STARTED ATTACKING CLASSISM

What's your point?
That classism is the real issue, not race.

Oh, yeah.

If someone could explain to me how I was born with an "upper hand", that would be great.

Think of 'white privilege' as 'class privilege', with the understanding that white people are overwhelmingly more represented in higher classes and arguably the cause of the racial division between them, and you'll be able to sort out how you may have had more opportunities presented to you than the average minority individual.

So since I was born poor, I didn't have any of these "white privileges".Thats gay as fuck, I wanted some.
White people are more upwardly mobile, so even though you were born poor, you still had the "privilege" of having access to more job opportunities, college, less discrimination by police, less likelihood to be involved in gangs or crime, etc. It's not about blaming any specific white people for the state of classes in America, it's just a catch-all term to describe all the statistical advantages a typical white person has over a typical black person.

Quote
I agree though. It is class privilege. So why don't these activists call it that? Why make it something racial?
Because due to many years of racial discrimination in America, white people were in control of all the policies and infrastructure that are now the cause of class disparity, and minorities are still disproportionately discriminated against in the class system. It is an issue of classicism, but one that is directly born from racial prejudice of the past.

"Clearly, white people are never oppressed. Just don't ever go to South Africa and try to run a farm; you'll get raped, beaten, and have your children lit on fire."

Holy shit, this video's hilarious.
Yeah. I think so too.

It's hilarious when people accuse SJWs of moving goalposts all the time, but when anti-SJWs do the exact same thing, like in that example you so enthusiastically gave, it's not only okay--it's applauded. You lap it up.

I lap it up? I criticized the video for being a complete strawman against what the actual discussion of white privilege is about. It's not about the Gauls, or Nazi Germany, or South Africa, it's about modern America -- or the West in general. I wouldn't typically call a cogent or relevant argument "hilarious".

The tax revenue he plans on generating is a tiny fraction of how he proposes to get the money to pay for his plans
And where, prey tell, is the rest of the money going to come from?

I feel like you should know this beforehand...

$3 trillion from a .5% stock trade tax? For fuck's sake. I've said this before and I'll say it again: the stock market isn't the government's money pool, to be taxed on a whim. It's the monetary foundation for every public business in the market, the pool of funds for pensions and retirement funds, college funds, savings accounts, real estate and bank assets, and private citizens' personal investments.

From my Christian perspective, yeah kinda.

From an atheistic perspective you're being spooked and shouldn't get so caught up in shit like good and bad when those things are totally arbitrary without a higher entity to dictate them.
Buddhists tend to see things my way, and they're atheists. I don't know how much you've looked into Buddhism.

Buddhists don't have a dogma on economy, though most see the Buddha's teachings as secularly socialist; that said, it's demonstrable that capitalism is the best means to anything close to a post-scarcity, socialist society and that it provides the highest standard of living for the largest amount of people -- ultimately a net good as far as Buddhism is concerned.

It's really unfortunate that in reality, rent, car payments, food, bills, and other expenses aren't paid in goodness.
That's the failure of capitalism.

It's a failure that we don't use happy wishes to pay for goods and services? Even communism places value on work and goods; it just forces it to be doled out equally. At the very least you're talking about a post-scarcity society with the privilege to pursue any career, which is pure fantasy. So you can blame capitalism and shit on good people contributing to society all you want, but you're not adding anything of value to this discussion.

You heard it here, folks. If you contribute anything to society and expect a fair wage in return, you're a piece of shit. Fuck teachers, scientists, doctors, social workers, etc.
Yes.

It's not really a controversial statement. Not even a little tiny bit.

If you're not working out of the GOODNESS of your heart, what other option is there?

It's really unfortunate that in reality, rent, car payments, food, bills, and other expenses aren't paid in goodness. Your statement isn't just controversial -- it's absurd.

Being a tourist in New York is one of the most vapid and pointless experiences of all time.

Go to New Orleans instead.

New Orleans is really authentic in the sense that you can enjoy your beignets and coffee in streets filled with homeless people and horse pee.

it seems like bullshit to me.

The legitimacy of transgenderism, or recognizing someone as something other than their sex in a social context?
The former. Which is unfortunate, because I really do want to be supportive of it. It's not easy holding views the people around you would be disgusted by. I just can't get over the suicide statistics, genetics and doctors turning away from sex changes. It seems really off at this point.

Do you believe transgenderism is a mental illness?

Straight from the article. The researchers aren't being paid anyway, the publisher pockets 100% of the money.

In open-access publications, researches typically have to pay a substantially higher fee to publish their work.

Like, treating someone else as a human being isn't " a courtesy". You're not going out of your way to respect them. You're treating them like any other human being
As far as I'm aware, neither Chally nor Mordo see or treat transpeople as sub-human, so that's not the issue.
Have you seen how challenger refers to transfolk?

He practically gives Muslims better treatment. It's actually pretty sickening.

No, I'm just going off of what's said in this thread.

but I realize that the quality members of the black community are few and far between.

Ever considered that this could be a result of a history of discrimination and intolerance by an oppressive system of white authority?

To many, his death is a good thing.

That's...pretty fucked up, though.

How many people, on the news, got on and said he deserved to die because he was a thug?

I don't know, I didn't see anything like that. Quite a few people defended use of force in a case of self defense, but that's not the same thing as saying he deserved to die because he's a thug. I'm sure a lot of them were influenced by racism. If that's so contemptible, why would you bring it up to defend the same thing about Scalia?
