Serious / Re: Should I learn Latin or Ancient Greek?
« on: March 18, 2016, 10:25:28 AM »
Greek would be pretty useful for reading old manuscripts and books. I'd love to learn that or ancient Hebrew to be able to read Jewish religious texts in the original language.

I gave up drinking for Lent,

Catholics believe that if St. Paddy's occurs during Lent you get a day off.

It isn't, but just for laughs imagine it is, and the best treatment was through hormone therapy or surgery; how is that any different than correcting chemical imbalances in depressed people with medication?
analogy is slightly flawed because depression isnt caused by an imbalance, or more specifically, low serotonin.

there is no evidence that depression is caused by low serotonin.

I didn't say it was caused by a chemical imbalance, and neither is the hypothetical disorder of transgenderism caused by not having the incorrect genitals. Both are merely a treatment for a condition.

Step 1: Make erroneous comparison to other dysmorphic disorders.
Step 2: Fail to compare the differing bodily health consequences.
Step 3: Accommodating illness bad!

Say that again, but this time cogently.

The Flood / Re: Fuck pop country

Country music is shit though this is a universal fact
I can tolerate old country music, like 50/60 stuff. But modern country is insufferable.

Johnny Cash is one of my favorite musicians. If you like classic country you'd probably like the artist in the first video, Chris Stapleton, as well as Darius Rucker.

Listen to this shit. It's the same song; compare the two artists.

Chris Stapleton (good)
YouTube

Fucking Tim McGraw:

Stapleton ghost-wrote the song for McGraw, who turned a country classic into a poppy rock song with a southern twang. This shit is the reason people hate country music these days, now that pop country is basically hillbilly R&B.

It's like how The Legend of Zelda was really horribly polished, but ended up being a legendary game anyway.
You're out of your mind if you think OoT (to which I assume you're referring) was unpolished.
Nah, he's definitely referring to the NES original.

Was that unpolished though? There aren't many glitches and it was really well-received.

Sapphire is a Joke, I got IP Banned "just for disagreeing" with WhitestGirlUKnow....

Didn't even break any rules, had no previous Warnings/Bans = Straight up IP banned.

What'd you do?

I've already disagreed with people plenty and I'm wondering how I'm still there considering around half of us who posted on Sapphire have been IP banned already.
I disagreed with her about Social Issues - http://www.sapphirehrg.com/viewtopic.php?p=18676#p18676
Refresh it.

I argued with her about a different issue and nothing happened. Weird.
I was even being Neutral about it, lol. I guess they're "Either with us or Against Us".

Yeah, honestly I was probably more aggressive than your posts were, basically calling her stupid (not what I meant but I think it came off that way). Were you insulting them on here? I know they've checked what people are saying here.

Garland is considered a judicial moderate and a centrist. Garland has been described by Nina Totenberg and Carrie Johnson of NPR as "a moderate liberal, with a definite pro-prosecution bent in criminal cases." The New York Times said he "is often described as brilliant."]

Quote
Garland, 63, is currently the chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. A former prosecutor, he's also viewed as a moderate. And he has cultivated a reputation for openness and collegiality at the D.C. Circuit, a bench that's sometimes called the second most important in the land.

The president praised Garland for his "decency, modesty, integrity, even-handedness and excellence."

With Garland standing beside him, Obama recounted the judge's bio, from his youth in Chicago to his sacrifices to go to college and law school — sacrifices, Obama said, that included Garland selling his comic book collection.

Before becoming a judge, Garland occupied top posts in the Justice Department, where he oversaw some of the biggest investigations of the Clinton era, including the Oklahoma City bombing, the Unabomber case, and the Atlanta Olympics bombing.

It's basically confirmed Trump/Hillary at this point. Nobody on either side should be happy about this election.

tbh if a woman agrees to a second date you shouldn't be playing the field.

That seems a little impossible. Know that you could be monogamous after a single date?

Even needing to talk about exclusivity feels very high-schoolish to me. If you're going on dates, don't see other women. If you're just messing around then it's fair game.

I mean people who get upset at others for having prejudice points of view. I often find myself wishing I could punch republicans in the face.
Is it common for Republicans to get upset at others' prejudices? I'm not really sure what you're asking. But yes, it is generally wrong to feel violent due to someone else's views.

It's decent. It's like Destiny but less mediocre.

It's grindy but you don't feel like you're grinding.

And the Dark Zone is pretty fun.

Does it seem like endgame will just be a grind for slightly better gear?

Heard a lot of good things about it, but buying a Ubisoft game on release day is never smart. How is it so far?
