Seems like they're making the same mistake by casting a comedic actor in the role. All the costumes in the world didn't stop Jim Carrey's Olaf being a goofy idiot.

I'm pretty skeptical of extra leaks because of how little information extras are actually given, let alone an advance screening of the episode edited down with effects added.
But I do like what's in it.

Only people killed by the Others (or their snowstorms/cold) reanimate as Wights
eh, i feel like this distinction isnt really necessary since pretty much the entirety of the lands north of the wall are under the effects of the Others' weather magic. anyone(anything) who(that) dies north of the wall and isnt burned/completely obliterated/protected by the Children (rip showjen) will be turned and reanimated eventually
Well that distinction is why Jon hasn't turned into a Wight; that's all I meant. Their magic does work south of the wall, they just can't physically go there yet.

Morally? Of course, you're getting an unfair advantage others don't have through bending the rules.
Practically? Not at all, if you're smart about it and don't get caught.
everyone else has the same capacity to cheat, just saying.
In my engineering program we had a lot of arab students that basically had a huge cheating network set up where they would pass answers during tests, copy all their homework and assignments, and pass down information about how to get easy grades. They were basically getting degrees for half (or less) the effort, and would often just show up for exams and skip class altogether.

Only people killed by the Others (or their snowstorms/cold) reanimate as Wights. It's not like a Walking Dead-everyone-is-a-zombie sort of thing, and it's not a north/south of the wall thing. They routinely burn bodies to prevent corpses from being reanimated in later attacks, not right after death.

Tip for anyone rolling dex/pyro: The Astora Greatsword infused with chaos scales C/C/A/A and has relatively low stat requirements.
Pyro scales with faith and intelligence now?
Yep Kind of a pain having to level both/either though. It was nice in DkS1 to just scale directly from the glove.

I've never really been a fan of articles like these. They take the boring, well-accepted truth that all of our perceptions are a subjective interpretation of the world around us, and extend it into some grand claim about there being no objective reality, usually using Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle as a sort of "gotcha" argument about how mere observation changes reality (when in truth it's the effect of the observing tool, not the concept of being observed. Heisenberg's Uncertainty principle describes how a blind person might try to feel a Jenga tower and claim that it exists in multiple states at once because it collapsed when he touched it.
The fact is that the world exists, but an objective system to measure its features doesn't.
Quotes like, "Quantum mechanics says that classical objects—including brains—don’t exist.", "Snakes and trains, like the particles of physics, have no objective, observer-independent features", "There are no public objects sitting out there in some preexisting space", are really misleading because they don't mean what they imply to a layman. Reading this you might think that quantum mechanics says reality, matter, or objects don't exist -- which isn't true.

Bets on whether they showed Melisandre's glamour just to pull a bait and switch with Jon Snow not being the one who was stabbed?
i.e. the Mance Rayder plot the show threw out the window
Idk, him being a little burnt may be the reason.
Mance? He's alive in the books.

Piggybacking off of your dragon comment, you might as well blame Beowulf for the modern depiction of dragons as treasure-hoarding, fire-breathing flying lizards. Tolkein did nothing new in his characterization of medieval fantasy elements besides expand on them in ways no author had done before.
If you're annoyed by Tolkeinism, try reading The Name of the Wind, which overtly contradicts Tolkein's themes and storytelling in a really unique setting and story.

Any Souls fan would agree there's no right way to play the game. Tons of people play offline for the challenge of no summons or to avoid the online interactions. Verb's gone from hating the game to enjoying it with reservations against the online stuff, which a significant minority of the community agrees with. Who gives a shit if he's offline? Hell, he gets to avoid seeing all the stupid messages from players that think they're funny for writing stuff like "try tongue but whole" in front of bent over enemies. I'm surprised that players like me, who play offline, aren't worked into the lore somehow. Are they not? The lore is so ephemeral that it's really just an excuse for the "everything goes" attitude of the community. You could just make something up, like "your world exists on the fringe of others so you're unable to interact with fellow undead" or, "your character is more deeply afflicted by the curse of the undead and so he can't commune with other undead", bla bla bla. I'm sure some redditor has made something up about it.

To be fair, mean-spirited messages are almost non-existent. Stuff like "try jumping" on a ledge are just tongue in cheek jokes.

I do think the forced invasions in 3 are pretty frustrating. There's a part that summons two invaders at once, and the only way to progress is to kill them or go un-embered. And invaders in the swamp...just fuck those people. That said, it's no coincidence that there are tons of summon signs around those areas to help out.
It's intentional game balancing you dingus.
Yeah, no shit. That was the point of my post.

They are taking away their own opportunity to learn by summoning you - or anybody else for that matter. The summoned isn't at fault. Well, I don't really understand how summoning works. I'm assuming you can refuse to be summoned, right?
You can't be involuntarily summoned. You use an item that places a summon sign in other players' game, and they can activate it to summon you to their game. You go back to your game when you die or the area boss is killed, or he returns you himself using a different item. the way i see it, you're only taking away an opportunity for them to learn the game for themselves, which would have ultimately been a lot more satisfying to the average player--so it would make me feel pity, more than anything
if they just want to cruise through the game without any strife, then they're probably playing the wrong game, but w/e
Well look, that argument can be extended indefinitely. Look at your playthrough for example: you're a knight (I believe) using heavy armor and turtling behind a shield with a spear. It's a legitimate build, but something like that is a typical beginner build because it's a lot easier than maybe another dex build. I recently played through DkS1 again completely offline, and even as an experienced player some of the bosses can be extremely difficult, and there's no reason to think you're missing out on some esoteric experience by not soloing everything in the game.

Trying to prep for NG+ by stocking up on everything, farming winged knights using the rapport pyromancy. Cast it on one, pull the third and watch them fight occasionally throwing a fireball or two in. 52k souls per run w/ ring and shield.
Any recommendations for what level to be at starting NG+?
I get 75k with the mimic head
Hence why I really want to get one.

Co-op is designed to be easier. There's no correct way to play the game any more than there is a canon way to finish the story. I really enjoy dropping my sign at the start of levels and helping people explore. I see no issue with summoning for boss fights when you can already summon NPCs for half of them anyway. It also adds to the roleplaying aspect of the game, seeing lords of cinder cooperate to link the fire.

Any chance someone got a second Symbol of Avarice during their playthrough and would be willing to drop one? I've gone through all the mimics in my game and had no luck.
I got a spare. They both dropped in NG+.
I'm on ps4.
What do they drop if not the symbol? I've gotten two on ng.
I'm on PC. It's a rare drop, otherwise they only drop whatever was in the chest. Supposedly it was guaranteed to drop from the last mimic in your playthrough, but I've killed all of them and had no luck.

Jane's death in Breaking Bad is seen as neccesary and unimportant to most viewers
Not sure where you're getting this notion from, but I imagine most viewers recognize her death as a crucial point in Walt's downward spiral and the tragedy associated with that turn.

Yhorm just killed Siegward.

Same for me, but it's the same result. If he wins the fight, he walks to the throne and then dies.

I'm curious to hear what people on both sides say about cosmetic operations on puppies or kittens, like docking tails and declawing.

The only 'real' constraint is the rate at which we develop technology, which is not only endogenous but is, at the moment, not really causing us any problems besides the exploitation of fossil fuels. . . And even then most of that is down to the political class not implementing the correct policies, and ridiculous amounts of scaremongering around nuclear energy.
I think that's what the author's getting at, underneath all the anti-capitalist angst. Though it seems like the author is asserting that those "correct policies" would contradict a free market, particularly in regard to regulating the oil, coal, and gas industries.
