It's definitely a lot easier to give away somebody else's money.

Serious / Voting for a third party is white privilege

Please contain your laughter. This is Serious™.

I can afford to throw away my vote.

I’m a middle-class, straight, white American Christian man.

I have a lot of margin for error. I can afford to throw away my vote.

To me personally, a Donald Trump presidency would be … moderately annoying. I’d roll my eyes at the cowboy bluster he calls “foreign policy.” I’d be irritated that rich people get more tax breaks than I do. I’d take to Facebook to denounce the right-wing justices he appoints to the Supreme Court, ultimately knowing that their decisions won’t have that much effect on me personally, since I’m a middle-class, straight white American Christian man.

[...]

When the stakes are low for us, but high for everyone else — that’s white privilege.

When we proudly declare that we will waste the fundamental right that others fought and died for, and still don’t fully have — if that’s not white privilege, I don’t know what is.

As I type this, poor, black, and brown people are being lied to about how to get a voter ID. Many of them will never get their ID, and will never vote. Others will be turned away at the polls.

As you may very well know if you're an enlightened progressive socialite, there are a specific set of agreed upon policies which will magically cure racism, poverty, and crime. Sure those things may be blasé to us entitled white gents, but it matters to those poor negroes people in the inner city. So do what's right. Don't vote your conscience -- vote for what you're told to vote for by us, because we're what's right for minorities.

shift towards center as a whole and back people like Rand Paul.

Young people don't want somebody like Cruz or Bush or Pence.

All three of those are more centrist than Paul is, though.

Mild-mannered Kasich never had a chance against Trump or Cruz. I think a debate between Bernie and Kasich would have been a genuinely enlightening political experience. I'm legitimately considering voting for Johnson in the hopes that a record-high third party vote shows both parties they're fucked up.

Looks great. Not feeling the cliche heroic speech Jyn seems to be giving, and the Rogue callsign seems a bit hamfisted (and appears to have no connection to the Rogues from ANH). I do like the old Western, Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven feel it's got going on, though.

If you heat up ice, it makes things wet.
but if you heat it more it becomes vapor

Humidity makes things wet.
But is the heat itself wet?

No, heat can't be wet or dry.

Water can, however, be wet. A better question would be whether heat is hot.

Doesn't she intend to largely carry over Obama's policies? In which case we'll be impotent for the next four years.

I could've sworn you were older than I am, like in your late 20s. Weird. Anyways, congrats on the (potential) new job. Sounds kind of boring tbh but $14/hr + benefits for entry level work is great.

The Flood / Re: How secure is your password?
« on: October 12, 2016, 02:00:10 PM »
That's kind of like saying it's more sensible to keep valuables somewhere other than your locked house because you might drop your key on the street. At the end of the day, even if we're not discussing bank information, it's still unwise to put your password into something like this -- the fact that there exist secure payment methods other than storing the data on a site doesn't affect the stupidity of giving away your password.
Well, I wouldn't say it's a smart thing to do, but if you genuinely don't care, what's the issue?

If someone doesn't care, then that's fine; I was trying to address people that probably do care but don't recognize the risk of using that website.

It's also not hypocritical because I consider money matters to be an issue of security, not privacy. There's a distinction.
I agree.

If you fear being defrauded, a more sensible solution (in my opinion) would simply be to not have your credit card information online, rather than fuss over having a random password anonymously submitted to some random fuck-off website.

This site is basically phishing for info

It can use your IP address and various tracking cookies to determine who you may be by comparing to information gathered elsewhere. Maybe correlating your IP to an email address, and using tracking cookies to determine what sites you use, such as amazon. Well now someone could have access to your amazon account, since people typically use the same password for multiple sites, and could defraud you using linked credit cards or address information. Overall it's just a very stupid thing to do, regardless of how you feel about personal privacy.
I'd argue having your credit card information on some website is just as stupid, even if it's Amazon.
A hypocritical argument to make, since you don't consider its privacy important. Regardless, you missed the point.

Don't enter your passwords into third party sites.
maybe this would be sound advice if they had any idea where you even use your passwords

but they don't so why does it matter

they don't even know who you are

The Flood / Re: Plays vs Musicals
« on: October 12, 2016, 09:49:57 AM »
Depends on the play. A lot of plays I've seen (especially amateur plays) seem very fake because of the obvious sets, exaggerated acting, and louder-than-normal speaking (all of which is done so people in the back can see and hear), and it just puts me off to it. If they're overtly funny, it's okay. It's difficult to take drama seriously. Musicals convey drama to me better than do plays.

Still think it's incredible that she's claiming Donald's billion-dollar loss is a "loophole". And to clarify, that's restricted to income tax. He surely pays a fuckload of property taxes.
