What are grits?
a dish of coarsely ground corn kernels boiled with water or milk.

Never had it
They're corn? I thought it was some kind of... fuck I don't even know.

They generally lack flavor at all so you just toss some honey or syrup or jelly in them and they're not bad.

If you ever make them at home, cook them in a ratio of 3:1 beef to cream or milk, and they'll be amazing.
So you're telling me to put grits in my creamed beef?

Oh woops, I meant beef broth.

Look up Mecha on Wikipedia, the term encompasses Mech. The AT series is Star Wars is Mecha for example.

Mecha = large anthropomorphic robo suits (Gundam, Evangelion, etc)
Mech = (Western) walking tanks (Mechwarrior, Titanfall, etc.)

I'm differentiating because they're usually really different designs, but the Wikipedia article does focus a lot on its Japanese origins. I refuse to call an AT-AT a mecha.

Newport News never seemed that southern when I was down there.
And when we'd vacation in the northern bit of the state ot was really just an extension of Maryland, which is really just an extension of south-central PA.

Flew to Jersey today

Fuck, what a depressing state. It's all swamp and ghetto.
Sounds about right. Fort Dix?
The northern part (but not too far north, then its just a shitty New York) is nicer. I used to go fluke fishing off of Point Pleasant quite often years ago.

Atlantic City international, just killing gas.

Well it's below the Mason-Dixen line, so geographically yes. If you mean in terms of culture/politics? It's a purple state. The further west you go in Virginia, the more southern it gets. The North and East of Virginia are more northern.

Gotta clarify

Power armor = Halo, Doom, etc
Mecha = large anthropomorphic robo suits (Gundam, Evangelion, etc)
Mech = (Western) walking tanks (Mechwarrior, Titanfall, etc.)

Mech for peer wars, power armor for asymmetrical urban war, mechas never because anime is silly.

So on one hand, Richmond, VA was the capital of the Confederate Army.

On the other hand, it's composed of 80% white Cali-wannabees that can't cook a grit for shit.

so if you had never read the harry potter books and just started watching the movies and were super into them, would it be okay with you if i just said prior to you watching half-blood prince that "snape kills dumbledore in the book--let's see if it happens in the movie!"

would you be okay with that

let's be generous and say that the harry potter movies were filmed far less faithfully than they were, too

would that be good

Yes, because the books are extremely popular and their plots are well known. In fact, the "Snape killed Dumbledore" meme originated long before the movie released.

Changing the thread title after the episode aired can actually make it worse because if you saw that title and then see it changed you might infer the character does indeed die in the show.

I agree, which is why I didn't. It was originally edited by a mod.

and it had the adverse effect of spoiling the plot for somebody, because it ended up being true

Thread content: "Glenn dies in the comics"

The fact that this statement is true does not spoil the show. Not to mention that what's specifically being referenced is the edited "Glenn dies...in the comics" title, which is even more obvious. Really, the only way the episode could have been spoiled by my thread is if someone opened the thread and scrolled past several posts.

Okay yeah but that's the point. It isn't a spoiler, unless you consider it a spoiler of a four year old comic.
yes

that's a spoiler

OP isn't talking about the comic. This is about the show. The title didn't spoil anything. It was a happy coincidence that they remained true to the comic in the show.

it doesn't matter if they're only loosely connected, it was just an inconsiderate thing to title the thread
Again, it was made well before the show started. I didn't know, Das didn't know, etc. The joke was that fans would be worried they were spoiled, see the post in the thread, and then leave (or discuss the show as they watched it). Hell, I didn't even spoil it for myself because I stopped reading the (clearly labeled) thread after the episode started.

It's in the thread title(s) you dolts. Even if it was ".........in the comics"

Okay yeah but that's the point. It isn't a spoiler, unless you consider it a spoiler of a four year old comic. And it was posted half an hour before the start of the episode, so there's plenty of non-spoilery content in the first few posts and you can safely open the thread, realize the title is a joke, and leave without being spoiled. The only way that thread could spoil anything for you is if you scrolled through it, which is your own fault.

I actually laughed a little when the bubble just expanded.  Kind of took me away from the scene.
I thought it was pretty realistic tbh. Added more for me. Showed that Andrew Lincoln was really into it.
I agree. That was probably his best scene of the series.

I'd say another pro for Hillary is not being as weak on foreign policy as Obama is

I didn't want to get into specific policy ideas, just broad strokes about their character.

It's ok to vote for an incompetent president as long as his vice president is competent.

You guys continue to carry a torch for an argument that's been settled in court.

No it hasn't. That's the entire point. The mental gymnastics used to excuse her actions simply because she's in a specific party is astounding.
The same can be said for Trump followers and what he does. I think for a lot of Clinton supporters, they're simply voting for her because they don't like the other option. Same with Trump supporters and him.

It's not about who they like more. It's who they hate the least. Both have historically low favorability ratings.

This isn't about the election though, it's about holding public officials accountable to the law instead of blithely ignoring blatant corruption and criminality.
