But the Spartans were made before they ever knew about the Covenant... She made them to fight others humans that really only wanted to separate themselves.
The key thing to note though is that the Carver Equation revealed civil unrest would result in billions of lives taken. The UEG couldn't just sever the colonies that wanted sovereignty either. The Inner Colonies relied too much on the Outer Colonies for supplies and raw materials.

Just wanted to point out that completing hard challenges like Raids were supposed to always give you epic gear. It create this understanding in the community where if they'd see a certain weapon or armor, everyone would know that guy did X mission.
Instead It's:

Gears of War 3 had fantastic trailers.
Can't watch Ashes to Ashes anymore.
It was the last Gears of War 3 thing my friend who got me into Gears saw before he died. I was talking about it with him, so hyped, and he... He didn't sound too excited. I didn't know he was dying at the time, but I see now that he probably knew he'd never play Gears of War 3...
Also, frack Make a Wish. They denied him the opportunity to hang out with Cliffy B and Epic Games because he was too young, even though he plays the damn games.
Tragic story man. Sorry to hear it. They should have granted him that one last wish. I've never had to say goodbye to a friend and hope I never have to...
It's bullshit. Even his parents gave consent.

I don't mind the forerunners coming back, but good grief at least get some of your other shit right. One pet peeve of mine is that according to chief, they thought they had truce with the "covenant."
You mean the Elites Chief? Because the covenant never had a truce with you, they wanted you dead!
Part of this issue boils down to Bungie refusing to make their story and gameplay interesting at the cost of confusing newcomers.
The "Elites" in Halo 3 are officially called the Covenant Separatists. Why? Because they still have other client races serving with them. Bungie neglected to show them because they didn't want to confuse players. (It's why the Elite Phantoms are Green in Halo 3.)
So yes, while the truce was made with the Elites,it extended to the client races still in their control, hence "Covenant".
Any other superficial issues?

Especially the "Flood" Terminal. The speech the Didact tells the Lord of Admirals right before he's composed is straight from the book. Super badass.

As I say, every Halo fan reaches a tipping point where one of the games changes too much of what they liked. They can either abandon the franchise and be scornful of every new game or accept the changes and move on. Reach was my tipping point, and I thankfully moved on.

Spartan Ops is in the MCC, right? I'm surprised there are no achievements tied to that.
I'm not. It got a lot of flack, so I'm sure they opted out on no achievements for it so as to not force players to play something they don't like.
