>TFW no one is willing to do the research into the game type they're playing to realize the weapons are all upped in damage on purpose, and that the base does not have these kill-times

It just seems odd that they would showcase a game mode like that... i mean, why give the cod crybabies some ammo, yknow?
Because you want to show off what's new for marketing purposes. The absolutely horrible thing, is that marketing and game design do not line up with each other most of the time. As a result, you usually need to show the things that are new to generate media interest.

Now, even if they did show off standard H5 gameplay (which they did), would that have really made a difference? Look at how goddamn childish the Halo community is. We're up in arms now because of a freaking zoom in animation.

You literally can not please this community unless everything looks like Halo 2 or 3.

>Hey guys, we're changing up Halo with Halo 4 it's going to be an arena/class shooter!
>"No! Halo is supposed to be an arena shooter! Remove loadouts, ordnance, and sprinting!"
>Okay, we'll do our best next time!
>Hey guys, here's some Halo 5 gameplay! It's an arena shooter without loadouts and ordnance. While sprinting is in, we're making sure it's heavily balanced! Also, there's some new features that spice up the gameplay!
>"No! Zoom can't have a different animation! Thruster pack and all those other abilities are unfair even if everyone has them!"
>MRW "..."

I'm legitimately convinced that the vocal majority in the Halo community truly do want a Halo 2/3 clone.

Not sure if it's just the old skeptic in me, but I don't like the kill times, they seem way too fast. The boosts and sprints seem awkward, but I think they might be able to work with a lot more effort put into them. The ground pond thing though. An abomination. I do like the lack of load outs though.

I actually prefer the original.

That's kind of dissapointing.

Wow, they fucked up all of my favorite songs.

They only one they improved was Heretic Hero, but even then it's only equivalent to the original.
Then turn off the Remastered OST in the menus?

Announcer sounds like an asshole.
It's Jeff Steitzer as always...?

They gave him a dumb robotic voice effect and articulate his words different.
Woe is me! Not a different direction in voice acting!

Gaming / Re: Why doesn't master chief collection have 4 player split screen
« on: November 12, 2014, 05:30:11 PM »
Because Campaign has significantly more going on than a MP match.

And rendering the game 4 times would impose strict restrictions on frame rate and detail.

If the Xbox One can't run a 13 year old game split screen because of frame rate issues I'm glad I haven't bought one yet
You act like I'm the first person to tell you that the Xbox One isn't that powerful.

Besides, no one even said the MCC would support 4 player campaign split-screen.

did you steal this idea from a 10 year old?
Seeing as how most of the ideas 343i put in Halo 5 so far are suggestions from a Waypoint troll named Shootin Sammy that requested Pelican Gunship kill streaks, attachments, climbing, and ADS, it shouldn't be a surprise if this ends up in the final game.
Maybe you should just shut up and play the beta before judging.
Why the fuck would I buy an Xbox One to play a beta that looks so shit as is?

I don't need to eat shit to know it's bad for me.
So by looking at it you think its bad, remember how people think that advance warfare looks bad, well guess what, advance warfare was a good game, and people were hating all because they said its the same shit without even playing the game.
I haven't played CoD much since MW2, and I don't care about AW. I decided that I'd give 343i the benefit of the doubt before, they fucked me over once. I'm not paying $460 to play a beta to see how hard they'll try to fuck me this time.

Mediocre if anything.

Doesn't change the fact I enjoy the hell out of them, and they've changed the gaming industry like no other shooter has done before.

Fun-Fact: The Prophet's Bane is Thel's personal Energy Sword.

I noticed a hologram of the Pillar of Autumn, Threshold, Alpha Halo, and Basis. I'm betting that Truth takes place on Thel's flagship.

I'm fricken in love with Halo 5. The amount of Lore and the return of Arena is awesome.

Wait, does it automatically download it, or do you need to do it manually?
I got the prompt for it after putting the disc in, but I just cancelled it and waited for the disc to install first, and then pressed A on the game to get the update prompt again.
I've got the digital version, so...

Looks like a blind batarian.

Would be cool if the FoR theory about the Covenant simultaneously fighting off another alien empire was true though.
Still sounds implausible, given that the Fringe species were never conquered because they didn't pose a militaristic threat.

I'm not talking about the blind batarians when I refer to the competing alien empire theory.

I separated both of those statements for a reason.
What I say still applies. The Covenant Fringe were just that, a fringe.

In the FoR it was theorized that the reason the covies weren't going ham on humanity even though they easily could have was because most of their forces were actually diverted to fighting a war against a competing alien empire. I was just stating that it would be cool if that theory was actually true and there was a competing alien empire that was now able to push through covenent controlled space and interact with both the UNSC and the now broken covenant.
I know, but nothing we have indicates to that theory being revived.

Looks like a more-detailed Halo 4.
Well yeah. It's the same art style.

Not a fan of it. Halo 4 was to many, a step in the wrong direction.
It looks like they made the MCC to make the hardcore fans happy, so now they can do whatever they want.

You think they'd have learned by now.
I really don't think it's fair to make such a huge assumption about how much 343i has learned based on their design decision. For an objectively artistic standpoint, their art direction is nearly flawless. Now of course, aesthetically, it's up to you if you like it.

343i has consistently said that Halo 5 will be an arena shooter (or at least the Beta will focus on it), so don't start saying (or implying) 343i is going to just whisk Halo off to rainbow land because they did the MCC. Wait until later today to make that judgement when we all can make informed decisions.

I'm okay with this design.
A second human-esque species is fine, considering all of the varied species that already exist. They don't all need to have "alien" designs.
They should though. You can see they have gills, so they should have a lot of aquatic influence on their physiology. Having a human-sequel shape is fine, but it needs to be distorted more. He's even wearing a human shirt fitting his body comfortably.

The Halo Universe on Waypoint was activated today.

Thoughts on it:

The lore behind their species is delicious, but god-dammit, I always prided Halo for not taking the easy route of just changing a facial feature on a human and calling it alien.

Forerunners are an obvious exception, but I dislike this.

I can agree with you. So far, all of Halo's alien have been....alien. Humanoid in structure but distinctly alien. The fellow up above reminds me of a batarian minus and extra pair of eyes. He looks out of place in the Haloverse.
The Archive agrees as well. And it displaced lore a bit too. Sangheili were repulsed by how humans looked. Shouldn't they be used to our physiology by that Yonhet?

Theory Time: I've begun formulating they are a Forerunner-Human offshoot, which might explain why they are so good at "sniffing" out Forerunner tech.

And yet at the same time, the Forerunners looking so Human wouldn't offend the Sangheili?
Then the question is did the Covenant even know what the Forerunner's looked like.

Also, new info: Arbiter's personal sword is called the Prophet's Bane. It is featured in Halo 5, which is probably why the MP sword looks so funky. Maybe.

As interesting as it is to learn about other civilizations that had contact with the Covenant, the design really just looks like something they shoehorned into the show so they could have an alien without needing expensive CGI for it. I don't really have a problem with that, but it just feels so out of place for Halo.
I agree. They did actually make an appearance in Escalation last month. Though no one knew what they were.
