I don't buy into the idea that Clinton is somehow worse than Trump.

Not endorse her and fracture the Democratic Party even more?umm, he's been saying for months that he will do everything he can to stop donald trump from becoming president even if that means endorsing Clinton. What's your point? 694
Serious / Re: Bernie endorsing Hillary« on: July 12, 2016, 11:50:47 AM »Lol.umm, he's been saying for months that he will do everything he can to stop donald trump from becoming president even if that means endorsing Clinton. I resent the fact that so many people, even some of his supporters think that this move is him "selling out". 695
Serious / Re: Former British Army commander says allowing women on the front will "cost lives"« on: July 11, 2016, 12:37:20 PM »yep.Well, to be fair, I expect this reaction from him. He's from a generation that this wasn't even thought about. There were former police saying women would cost live on patrol too.Right, and as we all know, every generation is more morally upstanding and intelligent than the last. This guy is just on the Wrong Side Of History™. 696
Gaming / Re: Holy fuck I'm bored of games right now« on: July 09, 2016, 07:28:17 PM »
I used to think the reason why I'm not into games like I used to be was simply because I was getting older, now I'm convinced that the gaming industry is fucked by corporatism and greed. The prime example being EA.
I wouldn't be surprised if what's left of the industry is consolidated into a few very large companies that just turn out the same old uninspired shit every year until all you're left with is just a bunch of mediocre cookie cutter games. It's already happening, I mean it only took like 12 Call of Duty games for people to finally realize that they were just releasing the same shit with a different skin and a few bells and whistles every year. It's no wonder why people are turning to nostalgia and indie games. 697

Serious / Re: Obama on Dallas: "It's difficult to untangle the motives of the shooter"« on: July 09, 2016, 05:35:00 PM »
He was speaking about mass shootings in general and the mental health issues that would cause someone to destroy their own life and the lives of others. Pretty shitty move on CNN's part to only include a bit of what he said to make it seem more controversial than it actually is.

The Flood / Re: What happened to Elegiac?« on: July 07, 2016, 02:44:45 PM »
Elegiac got too much flak.
What was really the worst thing he did? Complain to the mods about "playing in the street" jokes? That's not that bad. Yeah his posting style was a little odd and the fox pictures got old quick, but that's no reason to hate him imo. 709
The Flood / Re: They're replacing Iron Man with a black chick« on: July 06, 2016, 08:53:52 PM »It is inconsequential no doubt, but the motivation behind the change isn't.This reminds me of the story where they announced that Hermoine from Harry Potter was going to be portrayed by a black girl.it's also stupid to care, because a character's race is so inconsequential to a story anyway 710
The Flood / Re: They're replacing Iron Man with a black chick« on: July 06, 2016, 08:42:23 PM »
Like, why don't they just make more black characters instead of turning already existing characters into something that the creator didn't intend. I'd be okay with that.

This reminds me of the story where they announced that Hermoine from Harry Potter was going to be portrayed by a black girl.
While I don't take issue with the fact that she's black, it's just annoying to have to be okay with something that was done purely for political reasons, and if you're not okay with it, then you're a racist. No. That's just stupid. 712
The Flood / Re: Will pot ever be as widely accepted as caffeine or alcohol?« on: July 04, 2016, 03:51:41 PM »
I can see nationwide decriminalization happening within the next decade or two.
There is still a lot of stigma/taboo associated with pot, so I can't really see it being on the same level of acceptance as caffeine or even alcohol anytime soon. 713

Serious / Re: Vermont becomes first US state to require GMO labeling« on: July 01, 2016, 09:12:36 PM »Anti-science horseshit combined with government overregulation. It's a winning combination. The people of Vermont voted for the bill to happen despite push-back by corporate interests, and a few US Senators are attempting to fight the law as well. I would hardly call that "government overregulation" |
