Where do you live? It sounds like you live out in the suburbs. I personally would stay with what I know because I like familiar faces and areas. I'd stay and see what I could do by moving out and start making preparations to move away.

I guess so, but he doesn't have any downright malicious intentions. I'd categorize him as more of an anti-hero, or anti-villain at worst.
Villains are usually dictated by narrative perspective. I choose to look at universes from an objective view and in TLOU Joel really is the only one that stands out as a villain.

Have you played The Last of Us at all? He's an Anti-Hero as a protagonist and a Villain as a character.
Never played it, but I watched a full LP of it, which is pretty much the same thing. I get that he's a jerk and initially disdainful towards Ellie, but he risks his life to save her at the end of the game, and legitimately cares enough to not let her die for science.
But in the process he dooms the old world that a "Hero" would work to protect/bring back to fruition. He is selfish and let's his own desires control his actions ultimately condemning a lot of lives. Hence why he is a villain.
