Misgendering and knowingly using the wrong name is purposely stirring up trouble.
Hey, basic human respect anybody?
Hey guys, could you call me God? That's my preferred title.

It makes me feel uncomfortable when you don't, so... You have to.
It's called respect.

Uh... I don't think its a disorder. I mean, those people look fine to me.
That's not what defines a disorder, though.

Transgender is an umbrella term for anyone who is gender nonconforming.
Transsexual refers for to people that have undergone procedures to change their anatomy.
I mean, yeah, that's what I thought, but now I'm getting so much contradicting information. I remember why I stopped caring about stuff like this.

Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?

Transsexualism has the same definition as being transgender.
Stupid.

Again, semantics. We both know what we're talking about, so why do you keep whining about the exact word used?
Well gee, you're talking about what words are used to refer to people, and then when someone offers a suggestion, you think they're arguing semantics.

"Hey mommy, what's that thing?"
"It's a lollipop, dearie!"
"Wow. Semantics, much? What a bitch."

I may be wrong, but I thought "transgender" referred to people who changed their sex.
See, to me, that doesn't make any sense.

A change of sex should be called transexual. Which it is.

No insult would be the "proper" insult around these parts.
That's really my whole point. Insults are improper by nature, but "improper" does not mean "slanderous".

Slander should be considered worse than a vanilla "proper" insult.

Frankly, slanderous statements should beget vilification.

Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?

You definitely implied that that was a proper insult. Is dumbcunt a proper insult too?
No I didn't. Holy batshit, you're a fucking imbecile...

A "proper" insult is one that isn't slander, like the pig rapist example that I gave.

The fact that I have to spam this topic with non-sequitur bullshit just to explain this simple shit to you retards is pathetic.

Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?
« on: September 14, 2014, 06:25:29 PM »
is that really what you'd consider a quality insult?
Dumbcunt alert.

The "quality" of the insult isn't the point, jackass.
The point is that he's clearly not a Nazi, nor is he a pig rapist. As far as I know.

In terms you can understand (maybe):
Slander is bad.

If he can't demonstrate SecondClass's bigotry, he has no place calling him a bigot.
Blocked.

Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?

Calling SecondClass a bigot is pretty silly. Is someone who wants to find a way to prevent/treat autism an ableist?
Because calling out semantics will get you so far. You know what I meant, don't bother twisting it.
Well, if you're going to fucking impinge on someone's character, that's just kinda bullshit, isn't it? Yeah, it's called SLANDER. Would you like me to call you a Nazi pig rapist?

You're the most Nazi-esque pig raping fucktoid I've ever seen. There. Is that a fair way to argue?
No, insult someone properly if you're gonna do it at all. Please.

My point is that you're obviously just trying to call him a bigot because you know it'll make you look like the good guy. It's a cheap ploy. No, he's not a bigot, no one here's a bigot in that regard (except maybe PSU), find a better insult.

Now you're talking about gender roles, which aren't the same thing as gender itself.
No, I... wasn't, but okay? It's because I said "masculinity" and "femininity", right. I just said that because I didn't know how else to refer to the dichotomy if you don't like the differentiation of sex and gender.

See, this is what you do... I mean fuck.

Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?

Not really for my own convenience, more for the sake of objective truth.
The discrepancies between mental and physical masculinity/femininity, being the main topic of discussion, are differentiated easily by referring to the mental as "gender" and the physical as "sex". Why would you purposely make discussion more difficult by arbitrarily creating a line of equivalence between the two words? As if the English language is the ultimate, infallible dictator of all meaning in the universe. As if words have never had their definitions changed drastically in the past.

Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?

Except it's not a fake concept. Take off your pants and look down. Do you have a penis or a vagina? That, and that alone, determines what your gender is.
What you're doing right now, basically, is arbitrarily merging two concepts for your own convenience, which is petty and willfully ignorant.

The thing is, I'm totally with you on this argument, but to say that "gender" isn't a mere contrivance and is the same thing as sex is a sign of intellectual bankruptcy. How can we discuss this if you're going to just bend words to your own will?

47967
Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?
« on: September 14, 2014, 05:51:55 PM »
No, sex and gender are synonyms.
What you'd be better of saying is this:

Gender is a fake concept. A social construct. A contrivance. Something that we made exist simply by perceptual fiat. Kinda like the "value" of gold, or our perception of who we are—it is a mark of who we are in our minds.

Treating ideas as though they hold any water in our material world gives a lot of people comfort, whether you like it or not.

Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?
« on: September 14, 2014, 05:40:23 PM »
This is essentially the line I try to take.

Although, it's heavily dependent on how you define "disorder".
As a layman, here's my general, roundabout theory.

The shit that's supposed to work one way
instead works some other way.

So basically, most of the human race has... disorderly genes. Variation, you might call it? Or mutation. Which are components of evolution, of course. And we all know just how real that shit is. Except PSU, hysterically.

Serious / Re: Is transgenderism a mental disorder?

If you're born with a penis, you're a man. If you're born with a vagina, you're a woman.
Objectively incorrect.

Sex =/= gender.
He meant to say "biologically male" and "biologically female". Keyword being "biologically". Our SecondClass friend isn't good with words, be easy with him.

He didn't even say "boy" and "girl", he literally said you're born a man or woman. But no one's pointing that out.

Going by proper delineation of what constitutes a mental disorder, yes, I would argue that even homosexuality is a mental disorder.

But that doesn't make it bad, wrong, "lesser", or more disgusting than any other sexual orientation/gender identification (indeed, I think they're all equally useless and disgusting).

It just means something went awry during the whole genetic makeup process, or something like that. I'm not a neuroscientist. Overall, it's entirely inconsequential and a complete non-issue to anyone of rational tutelage.
