because phobias are IRRATIONAL fears/hatreds

to irrationally hate muslims means to hate them regardless of whether they're moderate, peaceful, or violent
wrong

literally not true at all lmao, a phobia is literally just an aversion to something
google it i don't care if you're wrong

It's as dumb as homo"phobia". You are called islamophobe or homophobe if you don't like it. It's not irrational fear or fear at all.
it's not irrational to fear spiders, but it's irrational to be an arachnophobe

It serves to make bonfires that much more relieving. It's not like the game has enemies that scour the world looking for you, and you don't play online, so just walk backwards a bit.
nope

i should be able to pause, just like i can in almost any other game

sometimes i literally don't have the time to walk to a safe place

maybe i'm in the middle of a skirmish with enemies and i'm trying to recover 50K souls, and someone knocks on the door

Gotta agree with birb, not being able to pause is just dumb.
you're seriously the first person who has actually played dark souls to agree with me there

why are dark souls fans so fucking touchy about people pointing out flaws anyway?

no other fanbase i know of collectively acts as though their game is totally perfect
An intentional mechanic that you don't like is not a flaw.
it is if the intended purpose of the mechanic is overshadowed by its negatives

"muh sense of danger" is vastly overshadowed by the glaring, GLARING negatives

They're all about social justice.
Didn't know they were interchangeable.
They go hand in hand.
So they're not interchangeable.
You say that like I ever said or implied they were—I didn't.

this thread lmao
if dark souls can't have a pause feature, can you think of any pausable games that would actually benefit from not having a pause feature

furthermore, can you think of a game that would benefit from having the power button disabled
I meant the thread as a whole. I don't remember making this lol

And SUPERHOT kind of does that, where it locks you out of being able to exit the game.
excuse me?
At a point of the game, it stops letting you exit. Meshes well with the whole Matrix vibe.
that's horrible

does it at least warn you
Spoiler
The game tells you to stop fucking around and treating it like a toy for a few missions preceding it, interspersed with messages telling you that it has total control over you. It tells you to run; if you don't, you can't proceed. It tells you to die; if you don't let yourself get shot, you can't move forward. It tells you that it can decide where you leave or not, and disables the escape key (that leaving is bound to). After that, it makes you (the character, because you don't actually type your messages) promise to leave the game alone and forces you to log off.
what about alt+tab
open task manager
end task
Well obviously you could exit by means outside of the game, just like you could "pause" in Dark Souls by exiting and reentering (you'd be in roughly the same spot, anyways). You could always unplug the computer/console too, but the point is that it removes to ability to quit out as a statement.
no, i just wanna be able to stop playing on my terms

like i said, fundamental feature—has no right to not be in the game at all times, no matter what kind of obnoxious statement it's trying to make

and re: dark souls, you already know how i feel about being put "roughly" in the same spot

maybe i'm just old-fashioned, but things like
- being able to play the game
- being able to stop playing the game
- being able to pause the game

are core, fundamental features that MUST be part of the game no matter how hardcore or artsy it's trying to be

that's why the wii was great—it has a universal pause button, so any game that tried anything stupid would get fucked in the ass

Q: What is the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement?

VHEMT (pronounced vehement) is a movement not an organization. It’s a movement advanced by people who care about life on planet Earth. We’re not just a bunch of misanthropes and anti-social, Malthusian misfits, taking morbid delight whenever disaster strikes humans. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Voluntary human extinction is the humanitarian alternative to human disasters.

We don’t carry on about how the human race has shown itself to be a greedy, amoral parasite on the once-healthy face of this planet. That type of negativity offers no solution to the inexorable horrors which human activity is causing.

Rather, The Movement presents an encouraging alternative to the callous exploitation and wholesale destruction of Earth’s ecology.

As VHEMT Volunteers know, the hopeful alternative to the extinction of millions of species of plants and animals is the voluntary extinction of one species: Homo sapiens... us.

Each time another one of us decides to not add another one of us to the burgeoning billions already squatting on this ravaged planet, another ray of hope shines through the gloom.

When every human chooses to stop breeding, Earth’s biosphere will be allowed to return to its former glory, and all remaining creatures will be free to live, die, evolve (if they believe in evolution), and will perhaps pass away, as so many of Nature’s “experiments” have done throughout the eons.

It’s going to take all of us going.

Q: How do I join?

Being VHEMT is a state of mind. All you have to do to join is make the choice to refrain from further reproduction. For some, this is an easy decision to make. For others, it’s a moot issue. But for many, joining The Movement means making a monumental personal sacrifice.

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement is not an organization, so no membership dues go to officials in offices. We are millions of individuals, each doing what we feel is best. Join with other VHEMT Volunteers and Supporters.

They're fun, and they're the only way to play the game. Duh.

If they were the only way to play the game, you wouldn't be able to play the game any other way, but clearly that's untrue.
Wrong, and you know that's not what I meant.

And if you think that's fun, you're right, but you can maximize the amount of fun by playing with no shield
Wrong. In order to maximize the amount of fun, you MUST use a shield.

To enjoy the Souls game, don't use a shield. That's a feature I think they should remove, but I'm not gonna make a mod about it, because I can just not use it, but I think that other people shouldn't use shields.
I don't care about your shitty opinion or playstyle. I could say the same thing from my perspective.

To enjoy the Souls games, don't ever go online. Use spears and shields only. Never use summons.

You are not playing Dark Souls correctly if you don't play like that.

See how obnoxious that is?
