I really just wanted you guys to validate my own opinion so I'd feel better about buying a console for a single game. You've done terribly.
you fucking idiot...

generally speaking, it's only rational to care about whether other people are getting fucked over
you don't have to weep for every single person who does--i certainly don't

but when asked about the notion of never having the option to fuck another person over?
your first answer should be "YES. LET'S NOT FUCK PEOPLE OVER."

it's a conversation that extends far beyond just this stupid video game, and that's why i'm so passionate about it
the game thinks it's okay to fuck people over, and I say, "No, it isn't. Fuck you."

and if YOU think it's okay, then fuck you too

Explaining why you like consensual pvps is just off the fucking subject. Justify nonconsensual pvps.
You can't.
the answer is probably "i'm apathetic"

you know, that's just really convenient

because if you admitted that it was a bad thing, you'd have to start disliking the game more
and that would be a bummer, so you don't admit it

that's honestly what i think the "apathy" thing is
there's so many intelligent, sensible things to be apathetic about, and you pick the #1 thing you shouldn't be apathetic about

Good for you. That's the only intelligent way to play.

Me, I just can't get over the fact that they allow such a feature to exist at all.

I'm not saying there should be no penalty for losing a pvp, either. It wouldn't make sense if you didn't. All I'm saying is that surprise, nonconsensual pvps are batshit fucking insane. It's the cuntiest game feature ever. Pvp is okay if both players consent, but not all invasions are consensual. That's the fucking issue that I have, and that's what NOBODY can possibly fucking defend.

Explaining why you like consensual pvps is just off the fucking subject. Justify nonconsensual pvps.
You can't.

You have a bloodstained that you walk up to an click X on to retrieve your souls. Literally the only thing that drops when you die.
Yeah that

you don't lose your stuff, just the money you could easily farm again
That's still too much. You shouldn't lose anything. Invasions shouldn't be a thing. You guys are wrong.

At least Luciana's honest--Aria didn't say anything about losing money (unless souls ARE your money). And no, I don't care that you can just farm it back again.

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

And I think you misunderstand something

The invader doesn't take your souls

They get dropped on the ground for you to pick back up
see, right here

so... which one is it

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 06:13:04 PM »
Well there is a reason. It's a risk reward to push ahead and lose the souls (money) you've collected, or turn back and go to a bonfire/merchant to buy or level up things. Otherwise you could simply farm all day without risk.

Though there is a ring that you can equip to if you die you don't lose anything.
i was told just a page ago that you literally just pick back up all your stuff
because it spawns all around you

doesn't seem that risky to me

so if that's wrong, okay, yeah, that just makes me hate invasions even MORE
BECAUSE YOU'RE FORCED TO RECOLLECT ALL YOUR STUFF

I like people invading because I know they have the intention of trying to screw me over, then I shove it back in their face.
unless you don't

and besides, two wrongs don't make a right
the correct decision is not wanting to get invaded at all

that way, you'll never have to worry about it

you can still have your shitty fucking pvp, but have it all be consensual
and i mean ACTUALLY consensual

can invade people and steal their shit
I'm not gonna argue with you since I know and understand why you dislike the game (SHOCKING WE CAN ALL HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS), but you can't steal stuff from other people when you invade.
yes, we established that earlier

instead, the dumbass game has you pick back up all your stuff
for... NO reason

sounds stupid as fuck

and the invader still gets rewarded if they beat you
the only thing an invader should get is AIDS

You know how much stupid shit people do for the sake of "fun"?
Don't act like that's a legitimate reason to do anything. People kill for fun. People steal for fun.

It's not a reason to do anything.

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

if people were just honest with themselves and said, "i don't know why i like it" or "i'm incapable of explaining why," then that would be just fine

because otherwise, you end up with explanations that don't clear all the bases and don't make one iota of sense
and just make me ask even more questions because of how nonsensical it is

For anyone confused, the issue is now about how your own opinion justifies anything. I'm saying it doesn't. I'm saying, if you're capable of saying, "yes, I like being fucked over," that's just a little bit insane. And I know Aria's not insane. So it's frustrating for me when I ask for a good reason why she likes invasions, and I get a shitty one. "Because they're fun" is what her opinion boiled down to, and that's exactly what I said I wasn't looking for.

"Because they're fun" is a SHITTY reason to like anything.

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

Okay, you know what? This is honestly frustrating me Verb. I've given my explanation, whether you like it or not is up to you. I'm done talking about this.
it's really not up to me in the sense that i operate on... logic?
i don't get to decide how logic works

it's not up to me to decide if your explanation works logically
it just doesn't work logically

invasions are bad
period--i used to be open to the possibility of that notion being wrong, but now i'm dead certain that it isn't

i'm sorry it frustrates you, but really, the bottom line is
liking invasions is wrong

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

Its essentially drop in-drop out PVP. You don't even have to stop playing to search, it just throws the person in your game when he connects. Plus, if I haven't cleared an area, I have to be mindful of the AI as well. So I get a two front battle, which is even more fun.
you're still not getting to the consent issue

not everyone is willing to consent to getting fucked over
especially me

why isn't there a "FUCK YOU, CUNT" button
that would really liven the experience for me

better yet, implement a way to give the invader cancer or some shit
yeah, that would be great

does it have that feature

They get x amount of souls for winning, or humanity, or whatever kind of item it is for the covenant they're in.
well, they shouldn't
you shouldn't get ANYTHING for fucking a player over

and i was more asking why your shit is just... on the floor, ready to be picked up again
what's the point

sounds like shit design to me

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 05:36:13 PM »
You asked why I like it, and I told you.
well, sorry, i don't think that's a good enough reason
the game clearly has ways of "making you feel smart"--it doesn't need invasions to do that

and if it does, then... bad game

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

HUH?

what the fuck is the point of that, then?

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 05:33:33 PM »
No, I wasn't. I was surprised, I admit, but I wasn't pissed. It was adrenaline pumping because every fight I had before that was against AI that could be beaten by just doing slash > back step > slash. For the first time in the game (at the time), I was fighting something that actually made me play smart.
well, i'll just say it outright, then--you were wrong for not being pissed off

but that's not really the point anyway

just because YOU are okay with being invaded doesn't mean other people are
that doesn't make it a good feature that needs to stay in the game

40583
Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell
« on: April 07, 2015, 05:29:18 PM »
And you're assuming it pisses me off- it doesn't.
you didn't get pissed off the first time you were ever invaded, nonconsensually, and lost your shit

you weren't pissed off at that

see, this is the problem

that's like being stolen from, catching the thief, and then being like... "hey, i know you stole my shit, and that really pissed me off, but in hindsight, chasing you around was kind of fun--we should do this again sometime"

And make no mistake, I'm not trying to get you to like it.
i'm not under that delusion--right now, i'm just trying to get you to explain why you don't mind it
because i still don't understand

you're calling red "blue", and it's just... ughghghgh
Verb, please reread that first sentence. I like to be invaded . Meaning I'm consenting to invasion, and the invader is consenting to invade. I WANT to be invaded, otherwise I wouldn't hang around in major PVP zones and waiting for someone to take the bait.
well, not everybody consents to it
and you have a very loose definition of "consent" there

if it's like in street fighter where you can create a lobby and have people join, then yeah, okay
if it's not, that's not really consent--that's just you sort of accepting the fact that you're playing a game that doesn't have that

which is consent, sure, but that's... asinine

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

I enjoy PVP, so it goes without saying that I like being invaded?
no... it doesn't

pvp is fucking GREAT...
...if it's consensual

i play street fighter--the game is purely pvp
that's the point of the game

but you can't "invade" people in that game
so no, obviously, invading
1. is not a necessary part of a pvp experience
2. does NOT go without saying why anyone would enjoy it

it's like saying, "i like getting raped--it goes without saying, i just like getting raped. no explanation needed"
"i like being stolen from--it goes without saying why i would"
? ? ? ? ?
Quote
2) I never pay attention to messages unless it's pertinent like "ambush ahead"; if it's a lie I was cautious but still alive, if it's true I'm cautious but still alive. So really I'm not for or against it, it's just... there.
i don't see anything to be neutral about, but whatever

"because i enjoy it" is not a good reason

Holy shit that's dumb
if you fail to demonstrate how or why i'm wrong

then from what fucking sorcery should i contrive that i'm wrong

"hating popular things is bad"
"expressing unpopular opinions is bad"
"challenging the popular opinion is bad"

that's all you're saying

no one has given me any reasons as to why they approve of it/don't disapprove of it
all anyone ever tries to do is tell me why i should think a different way

which would be fine, if it didn't make you look like you have no ground to stand on

Gaming / Re: Bloodborne players in a nutshell

People shouldn't enjoy things I don't approve of
correct

unless they can explain to me, through logic, why i should either
1. approve of it
2. not disapprove of it

literally everyone on earth thinks like this
i'm just more vocal about it
