and those people are making a deal out of non-issues. graphics is a non-issue not wanting a game to hold your hand is a big issue maybe it isn't for you--maybe you like it when games hold your hand--but i don't

Praising a game for making players sit for a minute in front of some boxes to figure out the jump button is nitpicking. >a minute if it takes you more than ten seconds to learn what the jump button is for yourself stop playing games how is that a nitpick

you don't have to like a game to tell someone they're complaining about such a non-issue newsflash what you may consider "non-issues", someone else may consider BIG issues maybe you're also overly concerned about the bad artstyle i'm not

Sure, I could've typed up five paragraphs talking about what most people consider important (the graphics) but I don't really think graphics are all that important, to be honest. So I relegated it to a small mention at the end, while focusing on what I consider to be important--especially when the game is supposed to be yet another callback to the oldschool side-scrolling platformers of the '80s:
Heuristics-based gameplay that doesn't hold your hand. That's really important to me.

Talk about complaining about nothing
Except it's not nothing? Focusing on what's in the level is a bit different when it's all being skipped or exploited. My god.
MN9 is a digitially distributed game for several platforms, some with input devices with way more buttons than a SNES controller, and doesn't ship with a manual. You're making a big deal out of nothing on that. The player should still be able to figure it out himself. Pointless dialogue the graphics suck doesn't feel nearly as fast-paced as it should He walks slow and everything looks so floaty
Thank you, legitimate criticisms. All I was asking for.
They should've been intuitively obvious to any casual viewing, even under a speedrun. And I barely even scraped the surface. The dialogue boxes in the middle of the action are a huge distraction. You're trying to focus on killing these robots, and Dr. White is yammering on about bullshit down there. Very unnecessary.

You should give a fuckity shit. One guy takes it slow and shows you everything, and the other skips everything, including chunks of the level, and doesn't show what the enemies even do. Makes a difference...
One player makes the level look like it has a lot of depth to it and approaches everything like a normal person would, the other one makes it look like the level is just spamming jump and shoot to hit enemies before they even enter the frame, while walking around with a charge shot ready. You know, the entire concept of "you make it look easy"? Or you could focus on the things that are actualy in the level, and not the player, like I keep fucking saying. Fuck. Yes, I'd like you to tell me what MN9 colossally fails at in level 1 that MMX seems to do just so brilliantly. 1. Pointless dialogue at the very beginning. No one cares. In an intro stage, dialogue should either be in the middle, towards the end, or at the very end. Not at the beginning. The game hasn't even welcomed me in yet--what makes them think I'm already gonna be invested in the game's story? It hasn't done anything to make me care about what's going on through the gameplay. Sometimes, dialogue at the very beginning can set the mood. Maybe there's an important or cryptic underlying message being said that'll only start to make sense after your second playthrough. That's okay. How does this game do it? "Wow, the city is under attack! I wonder what happened! Beck, you need to head to this location, because if I didn't tell you that, you wouldn't have any idea!" What was the point of that? The player really couldn't have inferred for himself that the city is under attack and that something needs to be done about it? You have to be told that? For fuck's sake. 2. Button tutorials. It literally just tells you what the buttons do at the very beginning. "Press this to jump, press this to shoot." Why not just let the player figure it out on his own? I understand that when it comes to new mechanics that are introduced over the course of the game, it's sometimes necessary to drop little hints here and there, but when it comes to basic game functions, I don't understand why we need to be told about those. It matters because it makes the game feel less like an experience in itself. In Mega Man X, there's no dialogue. You walk to the right, and there's enemies right away, and you have to figure out for yourself how to deal with them. Not to mention, the graphics suck and it doesn't feel nearly as fast-paced as it should. He walks slow and everything looks so floaty. It looks bad.

BR isn't overpowered. It's just used the most because it's the gun that rewards skill. No one should opt for an AR, because its retard-friendly skill gap promotes blindly running to your death.
who said the BR was overpowered all i said was that it's not fun to use because it isn't at least the SMG and AR are actually more fun to use

halo 3 didnt have bloom. most of the weapons had spread because of the lack of hitscan. bloom is a mechanic which gradually decreases your accuracy the faster you fire, spread is just that... bullets spread out as they travel, becoming less accurate over long distances. i'm talking about graphical bloom, numbnuts i like not going blind as i play my games

katamari damacy
unless I never heard about the hd remake, isn't that a ps2 title?
ps3 is backwards compatible, is it not
slim ps3 cannot play ps2 games for whatever retarded ass-fucking reason fat ps3 can only play a select few ps2 games--some games will freeze or just have their frame rate reduced to, like, 10 all ps3s can play ps1 games just fine, though no sense make

I would have figured you'd've been a fan of the needler though. Which was a godsend in CE and hilarious in 2 when dual wielded.
the needler was neat, i'll give you that i like how it actually showed the needles getting smaller on the weapon itself as you fired it i thought it sucked, though or i just sucked with it 1 2 and 3
i found 2 to be the least painful
2 is the worst one out of the 3 Terrible balancing (like, seriously who balanced that shit?) and broken as fuck.
*shrug* it introduced the sword and wasn't a bloomfest like shitlow 3 they all had terrible balancing

Size Matters was okay, but it was kinda watered down. They had a third party work on it, and it really does have that "new dad trying to act like your old dad" feel to it. It's weird. Don't bother with Secret Agent Clank.
Buying collections is kinda sketchy. If you wanna just save money, fine, but with these kinds of ports, you're obviously gonna come across various problems. R&C Collection has some frame rate issues, graphical oddities here and there, and the music doesn't loop properly. Just be aware of that.

At this point, you've got about half an opinion on things. Which doesn't make for the best of a consensus now does it?
if the game isn't fun to play, why should i honestly care about the game's story unless campaign is so radically different to multiplayer if it involves shooting aliens with guns, the same lameass guns, i have no interest No denying that. Which Halo games have you played?
1 2 and 3 i found 2 to be the least painful

I'm just saying, that doesn't make it fun to use. To me, anyway.
I think my issue with the weapons, apart from them being sucky to use, is balance. It's an extremely unbalanced game.

That's what I meant, yeah.
OH, and all the vehicles suck, too. As fun as the banshee is to fly around, I always just feel bad using it, because it's so overpowered.
Team games are always terrible, but that goes for just about any game. You just can't rely on people to do anything the fuck right. And when I fuck something up, or make a little mistake, I get yelled at for not playing perfectly. It's just ugh. Fuck people.
All of the game types suck, except for infection, which is actually kinda fun. Slayer is the only other tolerable one. Juggernaut is the stupidest fucking game type in existence.

Hey Verb. I never specifically asked yet which has me curious. What speficially don't you like about Halo. It's just not fun to play, at all. I've only ever played multiplayer, so I can't really say much about the campaign. So, what's the main appeal of most multiplayer shooters? Well, for me, it's the weapons. If you have good weapons that are fun to use, you're probably gonna have yourself a fun game. The weapons suck. Almost all of them. The weapon that's considered the best overall gun (the battle rifle) also happens to be the least fun to use. Why the fuck does it fire in short bursts like that? It's so awkward and unintuitive. I much prefer the SMG or the assault rifle, except they both suck--even if you hit them with every last round, if they're carrying a battle rifle, you're gonna die first. The pistol is piss-useless, except in Halo 1, where it's supremely overpowered. Shotguns are brainless. If someone has a shotgun, it's literally a matter of who pulls the trigger first. No skill whatsoever. I can't think of any of the others because they're all so unmemorable. That's the other thing--memorability. Even if the game uses cliche weapon designs, like sniper rifles, they can at least make an effort to give it a cool or unique design. Which Halo completely fails to do. The only weapon I like is the energy sword. Because it's a sword, and it kills you in one hit if you lock on with it. That's the only cool weapon in the game. The maps are all boring and unmemorable as well. Most of them use a dark, murky color palette that looks like shit. The ones that are nice and bright are maps like Blood Gulch and Valhalla, where the maps are clearly designed for very large servers with 8+ people. Playing a game that has more than eight players at once is always a clusterfuckity nightmare. Those are the two biggest things. Bad weapons, bad maps. Bad game. Awful game. And it's just a matter that I really have to strain myself to think of things that I actually enjoy about it.
