I hear a girls voice...

and this isn't a good thing?

well.... shit
i would only say it's bad bad if you're a college student who has a lot of shit to read

being able to speed read and retain all that information without being hindered by subvocalization sounds like a pretty good deal

The Flood / Do you subvocalize when reading?
« on: August 01, 2015, 08:50:53 PM »
ie. do you hear a voice in your head reciting the text as you read it

could be your own voice, or the author's voice, or the character's voice

Apparently this isn't a good habit to get into, because you're having your brain do extra work. Not only are you reading the text and trying to comprehend its message--you're also putting in the extra effort to have it said aloud in your head. This apparently hurts your reading comprehension and ability to speed read.

i subvocalize, but i've subvocalized since i was a child, so, i'm kinda fucked in that regard
it's to the point where i can't even look at a word without hearing it in my head--it's involuntary at this point

Only reason I don't care about that is because Kickstarter and Indie GoGo campaigns require the backers to be paid back, or the promise fulfilled, in some way.
Either that's not true, or they didn't used to. Do they not allow for flexible funding campaigns anymore?

Number 19.  Just an example, though.  A ton of AAA video games have ridiculously massive budgets.
Marketing cost.

Says nothing about development cost, which can't have even been $500k.
I don't even know why it's on there.

Uh huh.  Either way, it's the entertainment industry, so of course it's not going to cancer.  That's not what those people are paying for, and it's not a real donation or cause: it's a glorified pre order.
I'm just saying. There ARE real causes on crowd-funding websites. I don't really think there should be anything but these sorts of causes on them, but whatever.

It's no different than "a dumb game" like Pokemon Red/Blue having a $50+ mil budget, except the promises and advertisements are happening earlier in development and they're focused directly on consumers rather than on publishers and then eventually consumers.
>pokemon
>$50 million

uhhhh

source?

It is if you are supposed to be interested. If you're supposed to have some sort of emotional response.

how is "uncompelling" anything else but a bad trait

I shouldn't be playing this right now, anyway--still gotta finish reviewing the "base" game, I guess.

there's such a thing as indifference
not everything is either this or that you know
i don't believe in indifference when it comes to these sorts of things

indifference just means that there was nothing that compelled you
which, like i said, is a negative trait in itself

which means you disliked what you saw

think about it

Sorry.  CLEARLY should have known you were just talking about the $4m that funded the tutorial.
that's just part of my stance of not donating to any shit cause, ever
ultimately, what they're doing with $4m is making a dumb video game

it's not gonna cure cancer

Gaming / Re: This is what $4 million in crowdfunding gets you.
« on: August 01, 2015, 04:31:20 PM »
umm, no. that's not how it works
if you didn't see anything you disliked about it
that means you didn't dislike it

that means you liked it

if you didn't like it, that means you dislike it

this is not complicated

Your game collection must be depressingly small if you judge how disappointing a game is by its tutorial.
i have 800+ games

i'm not judging how disappointing a game is by its tutorial
i'm judging how disappointing a TUTORIAL is by its tutorial

fucking idiot
i mean jesus goddamn fucking christ

there isn't anything i've seen that i don't like
so you like it

there is no in between here
"meh" is the same thing as dislike--if there's nothing you like about it, then that's a dislike in itself

duh

literally lol

A quick intro that's like, a fraction of the game so small that it isn't even worth taking into account, isn't an issue in any way.
what is setting the stage for the rest of the game

33927
Gaming / Re: This is what $4 million in crowdfunding gets you.
« on: August 01, 2015, 04:20:36 PM »
and you still haven't even talked about what you didn't like about what was shown so far

whatever it is, i'm gonna call it a non-issue
because apparently you're slow to understand the concept that not everyone has to agree on what's an issue

Gaming / Re: This is what $4 million in crowdfunding gets you.

"A minute" used in the context of "a moment".  Nitpicking.

Better call up Egoraptor, because Halo CE's genius design added walls so players could figure out that they can't walk through them.
probably the shittiest analogy i've ever seen

there's a difference between adding walls for the sake of having walls, and having enemies with subtle sweetspots that you figure out how to fight on your own

rather than just having enemies that you mindlessly shoot over and over with no change-ups at all

yeah, great tutorial stage
i'm so excited for this fucking game

Never said that, or even implied that.
A tutorial that isn't even .5% of the entire game is a non-issue.
to you

are you a child?

and, yes, you probably love it when games hold your hand
otherwise, it wouldn't be a non-issue to you

Gaming / Re: This is what $4 million in crowdfunding gets you.

Are you a child?
if being a child means that i'm proving a point that you can't argue against, then yes, i'm a child

you like when games hold your hand
that's pretty childish

To a point, yeah
no

always

what do you think is bad about the game so far
i'm gonna call it a non-issue
