[T]here wasn't a problem until you created one.
Verbatim in a nutshell.
Except he created the problem. Stealing makes you a thief, and cheating makes you a cunt. And if you are either one of those two things, that is a problem. Period.

How much did that euro school trip end up costing you, if you don't mind me asking? Altogether, about $8000 for the three weeks.

I've asked the same question before on Coup, but got lame-ass answers.
Wrote a short story based around the question, but it was lost.
Basically, I don't really know. I tend to be a very forgiving person, believe it or not.

Opinions have never been changed through arguments on the Internet. Well, that's just patently false. It's not likely, but it happens.

Your definition of what's fun and what isn't is not law. Explain to me in detail how cheating makes the game more fun, then. You're gonna fucking fail so fucking hard. Meanwhile, allow me to explain precisely why playing the game properly is infinitely more fun and rewarding than cheating could be, because you're apparently too fucked in the head to figure it out yourself. Developers spend many months carefully crafting these games. Every little thing in the game was created by somebody, and it's all meant to be observed and enjoyed. If I'm walking myself into a new area, I'm going to absorb each and every little bit of it that I can, not only to immerse myself in the game's world and narrative, but to appreciate all of the subtle nuance that the developer's put into the game at the game's pace. No one likes to grind--but it's all part of the game. Taking away grinding by speeding through the entire game is taking away all that nuance, all the experience, and all the immersion. What used to be a long, arduous, yet rewarding journey is now a ten minute victory given to you on a silver platter, with no real work, effort, or passion involved. All these precious moments I have from my childhood of searching for hours in tall grass in search of ONE rare Pokémon--sure, I hated searching for that long, but if I could just expedite the whole process, it would have lost ALL its value. The value would have been destroyed completely. If you don't see the value in subtlety, or nuance, or patience, or adversity, or "the journey", but you DO see value in ruining all that? Just for a quick victory? Then you're just too stupid. And I'm a destination type person. Simply saying "Cheating is wrong because cheating=wrong" is what I meant about non-critical thinking. Well, it's a good thing I never actually did that, then. Lying shithead. That's not how I meant it. "I say things that I don't mean." How intelligent. Except you can't run out of that game. It's endless. Games can be broken or lost or sold or given away. If you want another copy, you should buy it again. Piracy just makes you a thieving cunt. "Only my opinion matters because I'm a boy scout who doesn't want to break the rules." - Verbatim
I could say that I enjoy seeing piss on the Mona Lisa. I don't, but regardless of what you think, my opinion is just as valid as yours. Bullshit. Opinions are nothing but SHIT. You have to BACK THEM UP. And you've failed to do even do that. If you CAN'T back it up, or if you back it up POORLY, then your opinion is as good as wrong.

You sound like a child whose mother told her that "cheating=bad" but never put any critical thought into why. The same could be said about you. Not everyone thinks that way. Some people enjoy the unrestricted version of Pokemon. And I'm saying you're wrong for enjoying that. And just because something is "fun" doesn't make it NOT okay.
Unless there's a negative consequence for the action, it's okay. Cheating is wrong. The negative consequence of cheating is that the game is ruined. "Okay" = Acknowledgement Wrong. If you say "okay", what you're implying is that you have no problem with what was been stated. I DO have a problem. Pokemon isn't a consumable like Cheez-its. Stupid comparison. ...Yes it is. If you buy a game, you're consuming it. Now you're just getting pre-school shit wrong. "Ruin" is subjective. False. If I take a piss on the Mona Lisa, it's ruined. It doesn't matter who the fuck thinks it isn't ruined--it IS ruined. Not everyone shares that belief, Verb. Some people like breaking the rules. And you are wrong. Not once. Six times, now.

To be honest, I expected this.
I just don't see the point in stuff like this unless it harms me physically or economically. Like if you have a good running country with a good government running it would you just start a revolution just to "test" it?
Or a forum like this one that already has a team monitoring it. I just don't see the point. I think think he's just goofing off with the invisible thing anyway. I didn't think the "fuck the system" response was 100% serious, but if it is, then he's going about it in a relatively harmless way. *shrug*

MY experience. Yes. Your shitty experience that is worse off than someone who's played the game right. Um... I only started emulating in the last couple of years. Meaning, I've played all of the games straight before I ever "cheated". So... it's not like I don't have a frame of reference on "fun." "I've paid for Cheez-its before, and I liked them, so I don't need to pay for them now." Because it's my prerogative as the player to enjoy the game however I see fit?
Lol. I don't know how many other ways I can phrase this. Ruining games is an objectively bad way to enjoy them. Ruining art is the exact opposite of appreciating it, and if that's HOW you appreciate it? You're wrong. It's your prerogative to be wrong. And as you so "eloquently" put it, you have to put limitations on your cheating as to not go overboard ("Level 100 Charizard before the game even begins.") Then why cheat at all? Because as you so "eloquently" put it: "durrrr FUN FUN!" Not good enough. The game is MORE fun if you DON'T cheat. So why cheat? You've yet to actually justify this statement at all. I probably did it 4 or 5 times by now, actually, yeah.

Unless you're going to prove that there's something wrong with that, your whole presence here holds no water. I've never met anyone who is too stupid to understand why cheating is a bad thing. I've even stated it like, three times. It. Ruins. The game. I'm a dumbfuck egoistic human." I don't see how that follows. Kind of a dick move, too.
If you do things just because they're "fun", and nothing else, then yeah, to me, you're just another typical dumb, ego-driven human. Just because something is "fun" doesn't make it okay. "Okay." But it's NOT okay. So that would be a lie.

Yes, it is. If you have a copy of the game, there's no reason you'd just buy it again, unless you felt bad about stealing it.
I mean, if you do that then cool I guess, but a lot of people, if they like the game, will go on to support the series further.
I mean if he likes this, the he'll get to the point of where he'll have to get a DS/3DS seems you can't emulate them yet, and that will start driving sales.
Actually that's a point, the original DS supported gameboy games. That might be the best way to get into the series.
Or just pay for it. Like everyone else.

Wouldn't it be? It's "stealing" the company's software to run the ISOs, right?
I use the term "stealing" here very loosely.
I don't fucking know. If that's true, then yeah, I guess it's stealing after all. And I use the term "steal" VERY tightly.

You could change it by proving your assertion, actually.
I don't see how something having no negative side effects can be a bad thing. Because you're taking away from the experience of the game. This isn't that complicated. Maybe if you played the game properly, you'd see that it's a lot fucking better if you don't ever cheat. Ever. Actually it's being phased out of the most recent Pokemon games. They're making grinding less and less necessary thanks to stuff like Super Training and EXP shares. So go and play those, then. They were apparently made for you. Grinding is necessary to enjoy the other parts of the game, sure. But just speeding it up is of no consequence. How the fuck isn't it. nuzlockes require the same sort of limitations as cheating. They both require you to say "Okay, here, I draw the line. Here, I won't do this." etc., etc. What? The POINT of cheating is to REMOVE limitations. Cool man. And it's a lot fucking more fun, and appreciative, than what you're doing. Except there wasn't a problem until you created one. Cheating is ALWAYS a problem. I haven't created anything.

Only point in buying new is for collectors. Earthbound is over $600 new, for example, whereas a used copy is a sixth of the price. If you just plan on getting the game for playing, there is literally nothing wrong with used copies.
Well yeah, exactly, but his thing was that he thought I gave a fuck if Nintendo is profiting off it. Obviously, they're not anymore, so, someone should be making money off it, for the sake of providing it. No, that's not how it works. Yes, it is. If you have a stolen copy of the game, there's no reason you'd buy another, unless you felt bad about stealing it.

Verb being condescending while completely missing the point
Classic He doesn't have a point. He says, "Yes, I'm a cheater, I don't care, it doesn't hurt anyone, I like to have fun, I'm a dumbfuck egoistic human." That's all he said. What am I supposed to say to that. Nothing is being stolen though. You know, except a game.

Emulators are illegal? Since when? Stealing has been illegal since the fucking dawn of time. I guess downloading emulators isn't illegal--it's the ROMs.

I've become lost in my own thread. What is going on? What does an emulator even look like?
It's virtual. It's a program that you download (illegally, I'll say again). It'll pop up on your computer screen as a window. If you have any ROMs downloaded (which are easy enough to find), you use the emulator to load them up.

I just don't care because it doesn't affect anyone. Which is an idiotic and toxic mindset, but whatever. I can't really change that. That's gonna have to be something you'll have to grow out of. No one wants to spend 5 hours grinding when they can spend 20 minutes instead. No one wants to--but that's the fucking game. That's part of the experience. If you don't like it, you shouldn't play it. You've admitted to doing Nuzlockes before, right? Same thing. You set limits and standards for yourself, too. The only thing I ever do is nuzlockes, and no, it most certainly is NOT the same thing. At all. What you're doing is cheating to make the game easier. I'm setting limitations to make the game harder, without cheating. There are no cheats involved in nuzlocke playthroughs. Because it's not fun, that's why. Then don't do it. Problem solved.

They're hard (expensive) to get new On Amazon, you can get FireRed for $30 and Crystal for $25. They aren't that expensive, especially in comparison to other Nintendo games.
To be fair, he said "new". But, as I illustrated, that doesn't matter to me anyway.
