I've been thinking there should be minimum requirements for character sheets. I'm not making one for fucking everybody, so, I figure I should probably draw the line somewhere.
So yeah, you should be at least Legendary (3000 posts) to get your own sheet. I can make exceptions for staff, but I mean, I'm pretty sure everyone on the staff has 3000+ posts anyway. 30196

The Flood / Re: How did you end up liking/discovering the bands that you like?« on: September 26, 2015, 07:42:55 PM »
I discovered NIN because of my dad. He would listen to Pretty Hate Machine in his truck all the time, and though I didn't think much of it when I was little, I relistened to it as a teenager, and I thought it was amazing.
Luckily, my dad bought and collected every single piece off of Trent's discography before I was even born, so I had the entire NIN catalog at my disposal. 30198

What I like to do, whenever I get done watching a movie, playing a game, or reading a book, I go on TV Tropes and find its article. It's just a good way to find other people who appreciate and notice the same little things that you do, and to discover things you might have missed. 30204

The Flood / Re: Sep7agon.net - The TV Tropes Article« on: September 26, 2015, 06:49:09 PM »I don't. Full understand what a tv trope is, but I bet there isn't one that will match me.A trope is a commonly-used storytelling device. When a trope becomes overused, it becomes a cliche. Like... when two people kiss in a movie, and the camera spins all around them to show how romantic it is? There's a trope for that. When the good guy is about to lose, and all hope seems lost, sometimes the writers will pull something out of their ass at the last minute to make everything okay for him? That's a trope, too. It's called a deus ex machina. They're not usually meant to apply in real life, but it's kinda fun to see how often some tropes are true to life. 30206
The Flood / Re: Sep7agon.net - The TV Tropes Article« on: September 26, 2015, 06:43:51 PM »So are we making a character sheet about ourselves or, I don't get it...?Not necessarily. We just pick tropes that we think best apply to other users. There's no real system. You can try to find tropes for yourself, but you might be a little bit biased. As I mentioned, I'd rather it not become a method of shit-flinging, so yeah. Don't be inflammatory--be factual. 30207

I was gonna say--this thread is better suited in Icy's "forum reads" thread, rather than being pinned itself.

New website tropes added:
I also added character sheets, to help make user-specific tropes a little more organized. Check 'em out yourself. Character sheets for Kitsune and Noelle are now available, but they're pretty empty at the moment. They'll grow over time. DISCLAIMER REGARDING CHARACTER SHEETS Given that Noelle's sheet isn't exactly flattering (not that they're supposed to be), I just thought I'd bring this up: If you have a character sheet, and you'd rather not have a specific trope associated with you, then I can certainly remove it if you wish. I'm not making this thread to attack anyone or make people feel bad, so if you feel like you're being misrepresented in some way, I can fix it. But within reason. If it's over something silly, I might just ignore your complaint. Half the purpose of this thread is to sort of laugh at ourselves, so even if one of your tropes isn't very complimentary, a little humility goes a long way. |
