instead of embracing it, why not lament or become some sort of milquetoast etc. etc. about it
why should you "embrace" stupid shit that doesn't matter what's so bad about being a milquetoast nihilistic faggot about it 14378

Gaming / Re: "A bad first installment should get a pass, because it's the first installment."« on: August 27, 2016, 10:42:08 PM »Can you give an example?Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of Pokémon and other older, long-standing franchises like that. Anything that began in the 8bit era, or maybe during that awkward transitional period between 2D and 3D. Because the industry works a little different now--if your first installment sucks, literally nobody ever gives you a pass. We're pretty unforgiving these days. I gave Pokémon R/B a 6/10 in my last review, but some would argue that I should be more generous and give it something crazy like a 9/10. Because without Red and Blue, there would be no other Pokémon games, period--and according to them, I should respect that. I can kinda see where they're coming from, but I do tend to disagree with that logic, because I believe the sole purpose of a review is to discuss the merits of the game itself--not the game's overall importance to the industry, the franchise, or whatever else. If I had to rate Pokémon R/B's importance to the industry, I would be remiss to give it anything other than a 10/10, right? I gave it the score I did because I (and many many others) simply don't think it holds up very well by today's standards, and I believe "today's standards" are the only relevant metric to go by. No one cares how good a game used to be--is it good now? That's what people care about when they're reading a review. 14380

Two or three times, I can understand. More than that? Just no. 14381

"Yeah, the first game may be shitty by today's standards, but c'mon, it's the first in the series. It should get a pass."
bonus points if they mention something about "setting the standard" for the genre, or how groundbreaking it was during its time, or how it changed the face of gaming upon its initial release, or some other thing how do you feel about this mentality in general 14383

The Flood / Re: Cheat, a question about the ads« on: August 27, 2016, 03:45:31 PM »...so because it's not fetching you relevant results, it's the same for everyone?I think it's pretty safe to say that everyone on the Internet has seen an advertisement that wasn't relevant to their interests, yes. My whole point from the beginning was that it's possible for the engine to misjudge your interests, hence Charlie's thread. Quote And yes, if you look up "Pikachu", that does mean you do have some sort of interest with Pokemon.Well, you know that's not true, so I don't even know why you'd say that. You really can't think of a situation where you'd look something up--like the brand name for some product you've never heard of--learn that it's not for you, and then move on and forget about it? I do that shit all the time. 14391
The Flood / Re: Cheat, a question about the ads« on: August 27, 2016, 03:08:49 PM »Ads are super specific. They just aren't complicated. The provider looks at your history, compares it with other people's online purchases who share the same or similar search history, and then provides you with ads for products people with similar history have a trend of buying.that's fantastic just one problem: not once have i seen an advertisement on this website for a product that i would personally buy so you can say that they're "super" specific, but that's a bit of a joke, because in my case, they couldn't be less specific this is what i mean by specific, cheat: specifically catered to a person's interests, which cannot happen, because we're not always searching for things with the intent to buy some product, ie. just because you looked up what a "pikachu" was, doesn't mean you have any interest in Pokémon, but you might see Pokémon ads anyway 14392
The Flood / Re: Cheat, a question about the ads« on: August 27, 2016, 11:10:14 AM »Of course you don't, because you don't know anything about trans people.i know more about transfolk than you do what i'm saying, because--again--you're too much of a wash-out to fucking understand it, even if i increase the font size to 36 to assist your stupid ass--it's very simple advertisements are not that specific--charlie is not transgender, and there could be any number of explanations for this this is the third time i'm explaining this, and i won't do it again, so if you're still confused, you're out of luck--try laying off the dope 14393
