Long winded? It's a few sentences
Could've been seven words. Any multi-sentenced point that could be made in just one sentence is long-winded.

At no point did the author bring up those "flavors" being mapped to any particular area, nor is any of it a foundational argument.
And not being so long-winded wouldn't have created that confusion. Clearly, I'm not the only person who was confused, either, because at least two other people liked my post.

All he had to say was "our tongues are sensitive to five basic tastes," but he chose to be wordy and opaque.

Even if I grant him the dumb analogy, he's still using it to illustrate a nonsensical point.

It's an analogy, but what are you talking about? The sweet/sour/bitter/salty/umami model is widely accepted and proven.
A shitty analogy that doesn't work, and it seemed to me like he was referring to this. If he's not, he chose a very long-winded way to illustrate his point--probably to appear scientifically literate so that more people would buy into his logic.

One of the most robust findings in social psychology is that people find ways to believe whatever they want to believe.
Very revealing sentence. He's projecting pretty hard here.

Haven't seen a military FPS been reviewed so favorably since Cod 4/MW2. Never has a BF single player been praised so heavily. Even Bad Company 2 was faulted for its predictable "twist".

Looks like it's the real deal, boyz.
I didn't read what was in the link (since it 404'd for me) but it
YouTube

doesn't seem like it is the real deal.
Doesn't Total Biscuit shit on everything though?
He's a bit of a miserable sod.
As much as I like criticizing things (and trust me, I do), I'm not sure I can give much credit to people who make an entire career of just shitting on things without so much as giving positives either. It's insanely easy to just shit on everything.
Yep

It must be a pretty shitty life if the only enjoyment you get out of it is to shit on everything that other people like.
It's not so bad.

Kinda kicks ass, really.

One reason the left has such difficulty forging a lasting connection with voters is that the right has a built-in advantage – conservatives have a broader moral palate than the liberals (as we call leftists in the US). Think about it this way: our tongues have taste buds that are responsive to five classes of chemicals, which we perceive as sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and savoury. Sweetness is generally the most appealing of the five tastes, but when it comes to a serious meal, most people want more than that.
When you substantiate your shitty argument with debunked scientific myths that have been proven false for years and years, it can be hard to take the rest of what you say seriously.

i hate it when things i like become popular. this is a prime example.

im going to shoot myself if synthwave ever goes mainstream
"omg if my shallow interests go mainstream I'll have nothing left to be considered special by"
why is wanting to be special a bad thing

The ones that think they're more mature and intelligent for only smoking "occasionally" and believe that they're somehow "above" weed culture are just as bad, though. There are NO good pot-smokers. You're all terrible.

Womanizing? So every man ever? Cause literally every normal man talks like that to their friends.
I like how Trump says something and you just believe it as if its common knowledge. It's not that normal.

Its pretty normal. I could read my group texts from the last 48 hours and its much more "womanizing" than anything Trump has said.
It sounds like college frat boys talking about women. It's not normal for a grown ass man.

Guess my father and his friends are "frat boys".

I guess my uncle and his fellow Vets at the VFW are "frat boys"
I dunno about that, but they sure do sound like immature misogynistic cunts.

Then every man ever is too

Sounding like a feminist.
The difference is that he doesn't see anything wrong with being an immature misogynist cunt.

No there isn't anything wrong with joking around and trading sex stories with your friends. That's just how the world works. That's how NORMAL men act.
Men are monsters who have no business having any level of political power, what a twist
Because if the government was run just by women everything would be rainbows and butterflies right
Basically.

The Nintendo Switch home gaming system will "absolutely" support amiibo for compatible Nintendo Switch games, Nintendo has confirmed to IGN.

[...]

"The Nintendo Switch Dock has been created so that it is extremely easy to seamlessly switch from playing games on a TV to transition into a portable mode," a Nintendo representative told IGN.

Nintendo continued: "The dock is not the main console unit of Nintendo Switch. The main unit of Nintendo Switch is the unit that has the LCD screen, which the two Joy-Con controllers can be attached to and detached from. The main function of the Nintendo Switch Dock is to provide an output to the TV, as well as charging and providing power to the system."

According to Nintendo, the Joy-Con controllers — named Joy-Con L and Joy-Con R — will be included alongside the Nintendo Switch system.

Is anyone else psyched about the cartridges thing?

I hate disks--always have. So easy to damage. You can't even touch them without potentially scratching them.

Carts never had them problem. Also, faster startup and loading times--you know, that thing people whine about constantly.

Nintendo, seemingly intent on making this the most exciting day in gaming, has released three new gameplay trailers for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

One focuses on exploration in the newly open world, another concentrates on combat and hunting, and the third is a single, four-minute shot showing off the game's dynamic weather.
Seems Nintendo stealth-dropped three new BotW trailers in the midst of their Switch reveal.

Thoughts?

Legend of Zelda
Super Mario
Skyrim
Splatoon
Mario Kart

Did I miss a game?

Also it actually looks pretty neat tbh.
I think NBA was on it? Not sure.
Oh yeah, there was some sportsball shit around the 2:00 mark.

I must have blocked it out due to how very uninterested I am in that dopey-ass shit, but having a sportsball game in the trailer for your new console is sort of showing your hand in terms of "We're appealing to a 'broader' demographic!" Sooo I'm just gonna continue thinking I never saw it.

That's all the games I saw. Basically, it looks like a sleeker Wii U with a smarter name--but this time, you can take the gamepad anywhere, it seems.

The thing that struck me most, though, is that they really emphasized the noise it makes when you slide the parts down.

You guys think the hardware for this system is going to be the same as the competition or significantly weaker?
Not that it matters, has mattered, or will ever matter.

Better question--what will the stupid gimmick that drives away third support support be?

I just watched the debate, it's nearing the end right now, but even with Hillary winning the presidency she lost this debate hard. She got BTFO several times and completely changed subjects at several points. If Trump was like this in all three debates the polls would be a little different.

I want to respect Ocarina player, but part of the many reasons I stopped going to cons is because I kept seeing obese neckbeards walking around with an Ocarina around their neck (obviously in front of a Tri-Force tee) trying to play it and failing horribly.
Just respect the players and keep disrespecting the neckbeards then?

I mean, you're at a con. You're gonna meet some cringey awkward motherfuckers.

i would never go to a con ever
