https://smashboards.com/threads/sakurai-smash-for-the-switch-will-be-entirely-dlc.443277/Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the Super Smash Bros. series, has announced publicly today that Smash for Switch - the newest iteration of the game - will be entirely DLC, or downloadable content. That’s not to say that there isn’t a disk for the game, but it’s just that in order to actually play it you’ll now have to pay a considerable amount extra.
“Players won’t be able to bypass the title screen without paying sufficient funds," Sakurai told Smashboards in an interview he agreed to do for some reason.
Stages, items, soundtracks, trophies, sound FX’s and even a date/time widget, Sakurai says, are all only available as DLC. But perhaps the most impressive change is the “absence of the whole character roster” from the disk itself, with Nintendo opting instead to adopt an entirely DLC system for its playable characters.
Sakurai told us that “removing all of the characters from the game disk” freed up space that the team could then use to “add in specialized in-game messages” asking the user to buy DLC characters.
Smash for Switch’s new multiplayer system will require the user to buy 3 separate DLC packages: the For Glory Bundle Unlocked Unlocker, the For Glory Bundle Unlocked, and finally the actual For Glory Bundle, which in fact the user has only a 25℅ chance of gaining access to multiplayer before otherwise having to buy all 3 Bundle's again.
Additional steps Nintendo is taking to create an unrivaled fan experience is their new and improved Gamecube adapters, which Sakurai says will revolutionize the gaming industry. The adapters, which require the user to insert a 25¢ fee before usage, “appeal to the retro gamer inside all of us," according to Sakurai.
But why even change the adapter at all? What about the other countries that don’t even use US currency? These are probably questions that most of us have, and Sakurai was quick to answer them.
“We felt like this was the change that Smash needed. A quirky way to play your favorite game [while giving us your money]," he said. “As for non-US countries, we will be offering a palpable DLC in which the customer can order US quarters.”
Sakurai concluded by telling us that he is excited to tell us that all of the extra charges in the form of DLC and coin slots are “vital to the integrity [of Smash]” and that they are “well worth the cumulative price of $250”. Time will tell if Nintendo’s new ambitious business model bears any fruit, but people will probably buy into it anyway. So, at what point did you realize this was satirical?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokenism
Is it tokenism if it's a statistical representation of the population? There are 15 cabinet members, and gay/bisexual people make up a little less than 5% of the US population. 1/15 is 6%, so it's actually a statistically higher representation.
And even then, tokenism is a hardly worthy of criticism if it opens the door to more.
I just view it as a ploy to wring out some support from the left. It's not a genuine, heartfelt co-option of a suppressed minority group--and even if it is, I have a hard time caring all that much. The point is, I don't care what the president's cabinet members enjoy doing in their bedrooms. Why should anybody? It's not newsworthy, and it's certainly not selling me a ticket for the Trump Express. I really don't care if he's stroking his own ego, or trying to pander, because we already know he is. If it helps remove stigma against LGBT people--especially among fucking conservatives--then his motives are irrelevant.
Do you think this is going to remove stigma from LGBT people? I don't think there's much stigma left to remove. Anyone who still hates gays in the current year is a lost cause--I think pretty much everyone else has come to terms with it by now. It's the trans community that's stigmatized these days.

What happens when you have a full decade dominated by right-wing policy? The Great Depression, apparently.
The Great Depression was caused almost exclusively by poor management by the Fed, established only 17 years before the stock market crash by a democratic Congress and president, and was worsened by terrible protectionist policy by the reactionary democratic Congress of the 1930s and FDR's New Deal.
Is that the historic, commonly agreed-upon conclusion, or is that your conclusion? I appreciate you chiming in, because I'm not a history buff, but I just wanna make sure I'm not being fed bullshit.
That's the conclusion from the right wing that's been pushed over the last few years.
The New Deal is commonly agreed to be one of the big things that brought the US out of the Great Depression.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Shameful.
You've done no independent verification of either side, and all you needed to disagree with Turkey was somebody else telling you it's a right-wing myth. Echo-esque, indeed.
Considering that conservatives tend to have the most incorrect opinions ever when it comes to economics, I'm very disinclined to believe anything a conservative has to say (and that goes for any subject--but especially economics).

Hating big business just for existing isn't smart, just in case you thought it was.
It's actually the default position an intelligent person could have. The more you hate big business, the smarter you are. If you don't want big corporations permanently dismantled in favor of small businesses (while burning people like Donald Trump on an inverted cross to set an example), you should consider suicide.
Could you elaborate on this stance?
Corporations should not be able to get "big" in the first place. The only reason they do is because our capitalist system allows for, enables, and encourages it. In America, you're considered a successful person if you have a job that makes you a lot of money. Likewise, a successful business in one that derives and maximizes profits for all its shareholders. But in a better world, the most successful businesses should be the ones that don't just benefit humanity--but the ones that seek to benefit humanity as a primary and solitary goal. They absolutely must not seek to gain wealth, power, or influence. But profits are all they care about--an ethos bred and enabled by capitalism, a cancer that belongs to no rationally constructed civilization. The function of businesses should only be to provide for the public valuable, useful, and long-lasting products--nothing more. Fuck competition--if you need any further incentive to benefit humanity than the simple virtue that you are benefiting humanity, then you are the worst kind of person, and you belong at the bottom of the fucking ocean. You work to help make our lives easier, happier, comfier, or more convenient. That's all the incentive you should ever need. If your company exists for any other reason, it should be burned down. Your business doesn't need to be "big" to be successful or valuable.

He said because Hillary was in the pockets if the corporations. I told him tgat Trump was the corporation itself. He just stared at me like that had never occurred to him. Just in case you thought this was smart, the problem isn't connections to big business, but them having leverage over the candidate.
The problem is both. Just in case you thought this was smart.

#YesMyPresidentBecauseTheElectionProcess
Sure, he may be yours. He's not mine.
I don't understand though. If you're an American citizen then he is your President-Elect and soon to be President. I never said that Obama wasn't President even though I didn't really ever liked him. I mean, you have the right to not like him at all, and the right to criticize him and his upcoming cabinet, but he is America and her citizens' President. People tend to dislike Nixon but still consider him as one of America's President (Nixon was terribad),
You would have a point if he had been place in power through dictatorial or monarchical means. But he wasn't. Unlike other people here who are in favor of Trump, I can understand why you and other people say this. But its just silly to protest and ask for the electoral college to change its mind. The voting is done and there is no turning back now. To be completely honest, they should've done this BEFORE the election and perhaps had a better and stronger candidate lead the Democrats...like Bernie. >.>
When I say Donald Trump is not my president, I mean he doesn't represent me. He doesn't represent who I am, what I believe, or what I want for my country. He represents what the other half wants. Will he be the president of the US? Undeniably--never said he wouldn't be. He's just not my president--as in, he's not who I voted for, and he doesn't represent anything that I stand for. It's just a simple statement of defiance.
