This is, practically verbatim, what my philosophy teacher said today.

I got into a heated debate with her about the Danish cartoonist and I said "my rights don't end where somebody else's feelings begin". She said "why not?" She went on to claim that since the cartoonist knew there'd be controversy and knew it'd cause offence, and intended there to be, he deserved to be legally prosecuted.

We both got really heated and I told her you can have fascism or free speech,  not both. It ended with her saying she's entitled to her opinion and she wouldn't change her mind.

I'm genuinely disgusted and disturbed that a teacher in a liberal,  21st century nation can even begin to entertain the idea that freedom of expression can be limited in such an arbitrary way.

It's bloody disgusting.

Oh, that must be nice.
It's not bad. I've only been the UK twice and it was raining both times I was there, so the stereotype does seem to be pretty true.

And where would you live?
Belgium. Nice and warm in Spring and Summer, cold in the Winter. Pretty average I guess, no extremes either way.

Oh, that must be nice.

Otherwise known as Geordiestan.
Motherfracking Geordie Shore.

Sucks about the weather though, I feel like I'm pretty lucky in that aspect over here.

And where would you live?

It's been sunny for most of the week. Which is surprising since we're in autumn which would put slap damn in the middle of rain season v2.
Where exactly do you live? I could go check the thread, but frack that.

Northern Britbongistan. Otherwise known as Geordiestan. Located in-between new Pakistan and Jockistan. Our seasons are, in the following order: Rain season, "summer", rain season v2 and windy-rain season.

Wut

If we all met at one of those, we'd just claim it as our country.

Because obviously, of every single one of us met at it, it would have to be fate.

Nah man, We'll be preparing our invasion of future floodistan.
For the motherland!

The Flood / Re: Who here loves/hates GMO?
« on: October 12, 2014, 05:14:03 AM »
Provided genetically modified plants come with a de facto right for the purchaser to use the seeds and trade/give them away and that the health risks have been fully assessed with animal trials then I would support switching totally to GMO's over natural plants.

As long as they're applied fairly and actual transparency is promoted, I don't have a problem with these rules.
Come now, you don't honestly believe that all threads will be treated equally, do you? With no rules to follow, and only guidelines, the ninjas will go into different mind sets. Some will deem some threads to be an offense, whereas others are okay with it. Some will see another thread as okay, while it's an offense in the eyes of someone else.

You can't be this simple minded.

All forums are like that to a greater or lesser degree. All we need to be concerned about is whether Cheat has the spine to start sacking when mods start fracking up the spirit of the site.
I believe that this is our first encounter, and I must say that you bring up a good point.

Additionally if we want to be proactive about things we can push as a community to get more mods like Slash who let practically anything go when Cheat comes down from his castle to ask us peasents for ascent to his plans.

Posting in every thread you see and starting lengthy conversations about absolutely nothing seems to do the trick.

Thanks. So how about that weather, huh?
A little cloudy right now but nothing too bad. It's getting colder again though, which is a shame. I hope it'll at least stay somewhat warm while my girlfriend's over to visit by the end of the month.

How about where you're at?

It's been sunny for most of the week. Which is surprising since we're in autumn which would put slap damn in the middle of rain season v2.
