"Aye"
"Craic" - It's Irish for fun - I say stuff like "what's the craic" - it's a very common greeting here in Ireland.
"No bother" instead of no problem
"While" - I and others here in my county use this to express something strongly, for example instead of "My stomach is really sore" I'd say "My stomach is while sore"

Those are just a few examples. An outsider may have a hard time understanding us.

I am finding contradiction here;

Studies have found a dangerous connection between aspartame consumption and the development of brain tumors. When aspartame breaks down it produces a substance called DKP. As your stomach digests DKP, it produces a chemical that induces the growth of brain tumors.

Can't address it without a citation.

http://www.rense.com/general35/evid.htm

The amount of DKP absorbed from the breakdown of a serving of aspartame is negligible. In addition, DKP has been found to be useful in the drug industry because it can actually be used to break down tumors:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16317287

Quote
Altogether, our data show that NPI-2358 [a synthetic form of DPK] is a potent anti-tumor agent which is active in MDR tumor cell lines, and is able to rapidly induce tubulin depolymerization and monolayer permeability in HUVECs. These data warrant further evaluation of NPI-2358 as a vascular-disrupting agent in vivo. Currently, NPI-2358 is in preclinical development for the treatment of cancer.

I wonder why there are so many contradicting studies. This is like fats all over again.

The Japanese were historically pretty shit at art, though. Well, maybe not shit, but they didn't hold a candle to the masterpieces that composed European art.

Western Art now:

Japanese Art now:

That painting... it was the one that sold for an absurd amount of money, wasn't it? A fucking toddler could make that. I'm sure the guy that created this "art" is laughing his ass off.

What's funny is that my parents have a couple water color paintings that I did when I was a toddler. Whenever people come over they get asked where they bought them from and which artist made it so they can look into his/her stuff.

I probably couldn't remake those paintings now even if I tried.

Come to think of it I probably wouldn't be able to recreate anything I did as a toddler, either.

It doesn't make you fat, it gives you cancer, Parkinson's, and countless other diseases.

There is literally zero proof of this, and mountains of evidence to the contrary.

As with all artificial sweeteners, it still triggers the production of insulin, which leads to fat storage.
Nah, this is a myth too. Certain sweeteners may elicit a very minor insulin response, but artificial sweeteners are so much more concentrated than sugar that there just isn't enough of the stuff to do anything significant. Except for giving you a bit of a sweet-tooth, artificial sweeteners really are harmless.

Interesting. There is a crazy amount of myths surrounding food and drink. It gets very confusing at times.

Research does reveal intense studies that show aspartame is not a hazard to human health. The real hazard present in aspartame only affects those born with phenylketonuria (the inability to metabolize phenylalanine, which is one of the components of aspartame).

For example;
Quote
Most studies in people have not found that aspartame use is linked to an increased risk of cancer.

One early study suggested that an increased rate of brain tumors in the US during the 1980s might have been related to aspartame use. However, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the increase in brain tumor rates actually began back in the early 1970s, well before aspartame was in use. And most of the increase was seen in people age 70 and older, a group that was not exposed to the highest doses of aspartame, which might also make this link less likely. Other studies have not found an increase in brain tumors related to aspartame use.

In the largest study of this issue, researchers from the NCI looked at cancer rates in more than 500,000 older adults. The study found that, compared to people who did not drink aspartame-containing beverages, those who did drink them did not have an increased risk of lymphomas, leukemias, or brain tumors.

A recent study of more than 125,000 people found a link between consumption of aspartame sweetened soda and the risk of leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma in men, but not in women. Since it also found a link between sugar sweetened soda and lymphoma in men, the researchers concluded that the links they found could be explained by chance.

I could never get past the taste of it. Shit don't taste like sugar, man.

Pretty sure it's only been shown to cause cancer in rats with extremely high intake levels of the stuff... but I still wouldn't trust it.

Agreed, it does not. I've tried "sugar-free" orange juice that uses aspartame to make it sweet. There's something really off about the taste.
It doesn't taste like orange juice is what's off about it

Yeah. And I'm guessing since you're a bong you know what I'm talking about:

Robinsons a shit
That shit just tastes of, well, artificial shit. It also has an overwhelming artificial orange smell too.

Yeah, and ugh, that fucking blackcurrant and apple stuff is disgusting.
I don't mind that as much.
I mainly just drink Vimto cordial though. Something that actually tastes good.

Yeah, I actually like Vimto.

The consensus among scientists and all the data from numerous studies conclude the aspartame is in no way harmful for you except in unrealistically extreme proportions (100+ cans of soda per day for months). There is literally no evidence that it is carcinogenic.

The only harmful aspect is that it gets your body accustomed to eating sweet things, which can result in cravings for sweet things. If you have an ounce of self control in your diet it poses zero risk.
Fucking bullshit. There's no sense even arguing with brainwashed idiots like you. The government wants aspartame to be accepted, and you're a fool if you think studies can't be bought.

It's entirely possible that it is a carcinogen, and is dangerous to health, and that food companies bought government agencies out in order to market it, as surely it is cheap to produce. But we have no way of knowing that.

It can also dull the taste of other sweet things. I wonder where the carcinogen thing came from.

Anyone with half a brain knows that aspartame is a harmful chemical that has no reason to be in our food. Hell, HFCS is a better sweetener than that poison.

Food is pumped full of too many untested chemicals nowadays.

Do you believe it is a carcinogen? Do you think it should be banned?

I would also like say that "diet" sodas are worse for you than regular sodas. If you really have to choose between them, choose a regular soda. Even though diet sodas are sugar and calorie free, the sweeteners still trigger the production of insulin, causing the exact same fat storage effect as consuming regular sugar would.

Not happy, but neutral, I suppose. I'm leaning on a negative side, though.

Why is that mate?

I think it's the bad weather and the fact that I'm tired all the time. It'll probably pass when summer comes back.

I've hardly had any energy for over a month

Yeah, me too. I don't even have the energy to watch TV or play video games. All I do is go to school, come home for half an hour, go to the gym for an hour and a half and then come home again. It's so monotonous.
