Any amount of research could show the Soviets completely fucked it up, played politics with it, and it was asking to be fucking wrecked. There is a shit ton of other energy sources that are JUST as dangerous too if handled wrong. It's completely asinine to think it should be canceled simply because of the potential to go wrong. You can look at coal mining and oil drilling and see it's happened WAY more and been WAY MORE HARMFUL in history.
But no, we'll continue to look at that one example, and Japan having everything go wrong and have it blown way out of propitiation (no one died from it) because people like to peddle fiction. I hold people who are afraid of nuclear energy, to the same level of intelligence of people who think wifi gives you cancer, or carbon emissions aren't bad for the environment
