Serious / Re: People should accept people who believe in religion

Everything that attempts to explain the origins of the universe is flawed in some way. Why not just accept that we will never know and live in the moment?

Not everyone who doesn't believe in religion believes in the big bang. But the big bang wasn't an explosion, contrary to its name. It was an expansion that resulted from a chance (quantum fluctuations) that nothingness over an infinite period of time had to become something. The human mind cannot comprehend this - it is a limitation of our mind. We can only think and work in the four dimensions (the three dimensions of space and the fourth dimension of time). It is like trying to imagine a colour you cannot see. Religion is likely a result of this limitation. Our way to connect the dots, if you will.

There are various other theories, such as the multiverse theory and string theory. We will never know what actually happened, though, due to light not being able to exist in the early universe, which means that after a certain distance in the observable universe, things go invisible.

Even religion has its flaws - you believe that in the beginning there was nothing, and a deity just came to be from that nothing? You believe that women were created from a mans rib? You believe that a man split a lake apart and walked through it? You believe that a man can turn water into wine? You believe that the Earth is only a few thousand years old?

Personally, I, believe in nothing. I don't believe in the big bang (or string theory, or the multiverse theory), and I don't believe in religion.

"Cognito ergo sum"
A couple of minor gripes.

Asserting that that we will never know is just bad as asserting that we already know.

That third paragraph, we may not be able to see light past that point but it is entirely possible we will be able to detect gravitational radiation from the very point of expansion. Also, that point past which we can't detect light was predicted by and only by the Big Bang model.

I don't speak of belief in science, but in degrees of confidence in an observation and the theory that explains it. Scientific theories and religious assertions are hardly on the same footing, to say so is to make quite the category error.

It's "cogito ergo sum", please don't tell me you're a solipsist.

I am not a solipsist. I am well aware that science is on a whole different page than religion, but to attempt to explain that to the person who is presumably extremely religious is like attempting to play a game of chess with a crow. It will knock over the pieces, shit on the board, preach about its religion and how I am wrong and then fly away.

If you haven't, Demon Souls, Dark Souls or Dark Souls 2 for a Ps4 game. As for a N64 game, I recommend Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time or Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

So much ignorant hate towards Skyrim.

Ignorant? I think not. I have had a few hundred hours clocked into Skyrim, with tons of characters - and it used to be my favourite game of all time. I played it for years - and it was pretty much the only game I'd play.

Until I had a fateful encounter - It was free on games with gold. I hated it, at first, because I was so used to being lolgodmodedovahkiin and I forgot about it for months. I started it up again and decided to give it another chance because I was bored and had free time - and man has it dramatically shifted my view to playing games. Skyrim is far too easy and repetitive. Skyrim may be expansive, but it is only as deep as a puddle.

People who call Skyrim a good RPG are ignorant of Demon Souls, the Dark Souls series and Morrowind.

Can you make Skyrim good with mods? Hell yes. But a good game doesn't need mods to be good. Even then, most mods on Skyrim are made by horny neckbeards.

I'm fully aware that this is bait, but no matter...

A real atheist doesn't know, and doesn't try to get into petty arguments over it. Nobody knows if God exists or not - just like how nobody can disprove the existence of Russell's teapot. Continue to believe in your belief. I'm actually kind of jealous of you.

There hasn't been much done on nuclear fusion because its too efficient and there is no money in it for big businesses. Eventually, we will be forced to use nuclear fission (thorium reactors) as our main power source (because green power sources aren't efficient) as fossil fuels deplete, and that will pave the way to nuclear fusion.

Don't hold your breath. Once I spread, everything will go to shit lol.

I bet that if you caught Ebola in real life you wouldn't be joking around with that meme anymore.
Somebody doesn't want to feel Ebola-Chan's love. Know what's funnier than Ebola? 9/11 and the Holocaust

My bad if I came across as offended, because nothing offends me. I'm just saying that I don't think you would enjoy having Ebola, no less thanking an internet meme for it.

If aliens have the ability to contact us we'd be dead, I think. Unless the aliens we encountered have evolved in unimaginable ways that make them very wise and philosophical.

Otherwise I'm pretty sure they'll just act like Europeans did when they found the New World.

I'm sorry, but how do we know life from another planet would think in any way like a human? How do we even know if they are carbon-based lifeforms? I don't think they would have features alike anything we see on Earth.

Okay I'm tempted to treat myself, I seen a baby one of these on ebay and I'm very tempted to buy a third tarantula. Thing is should get another docile species or get this bad boy?

YouTube

I wouldn't buy slings off ebay. Buy it from a reputable online store, like here http://www.exotic-pets.co.uk (they ship around the world, I bought a flat rock scorpion from here and she is in perfect condition).

They also have a wide variety of tarantulas. If there isn't any king baboon slings, I would wait for a stock of slings to come in. Also, I would consider getting a docile kind if you aren't good with the aggressive types. Pink toes, Chilean roses, Mexican red-knees and Curly Hairs are some of the more docile types that make great pets.

Good to know other people are into the hobby!
Exotic-pets are far from reputable. The guy I buy my slings off is pretty good, he has his own online store as well as his ebay page. I ordered 2 baby t's (pink toe and curly hair) from his ebay page and both arrived in NI alive and well and are both doing great weeks after.

I would only order inverts online, if I want an uncommon lizard or snake I just have to pop down to my local exotic pet shop and they order anything I need. Gonna order a mack snow leopard gecko soon if one isn't in stock. I need a break from monitor lizards.

Well if you know the guy, then by all means. I was going under the assumption that you were buying it from a random seller, my bad. I would only buy inverts online, too. Reptiles are a whole different can of worms. Can you explain how exotic-pets isn't reputable? I wish to be more wary in the future.

There's a gas whose name escapes me at this moment (No, not carbon monoxide), and I would use it to kill myself if I had no other option. There is no pain or suffering, you simply drift off into a peaceful sleep and never wake up. I'm quite surprised they don't use it for executing people.
