Serious / Re: What's your prediction for the midterms this year?
« on: August 30, 2014, 04:14:37 PM »
No idea but either way you'll still have an endless stalemate for a parliament.

On a half related note, since this thread has gone in that direction <.<

Assuming he hasn't died, I'll be voting for the doctor that stood in the last two (Before this one) and failing that I'll pick whichever one seems least retarded. Ukippers have their work cut out to convince me that the candidate for this area isn't another godfrey bloom sleeper agent. Tories - lol. Labour - lol. Libdems - Fucking lol. Green - Maybe/indifferent and as for the rest, racists don't count as political vote options.

._.
If the doctor isn't running, which way do you anticipate your constituency to go?

Political parties and major news media outlets are not legitimate sources of information either, and elections are rigged because of false information by the parties I mentioned.
"Rigged", eh. I wouldn't say rigged.

America isn't a democracy, though, I agree there. We choose who to have, they just tend to be equally shit.

This will lead to a long rant of my hardcore Constitutionalism and how it's every citizen's responsibility to vote.
Does it state in the Constitution that citizens must vote?

No, what is your point? Since the first part of your sentence is completely irrelevant to the current topic.
I'm just pointing out that George Carlin isn't really a legitimate source of information. I agree with you, mostly, but posting a video of George Carlin being eruditely pessimistic isn't proof of much.

That's the mindset that gets us no change and at least if I vote and the wrong person wins I have the right to complain because I actually put forth the effort to make a change.
Can't say I agree there. You don't walk into a store and buy the "least bad" thing when you are presented with terrible options. People have a right to complain if nobody represents them.

That being said, the opportunity cost of not voting is fairly high, so I'll be voting UKIP next general election and probably be a persistent Conservative voter throughout my life - even if I don't agree with much.

There's a saying - I don't know if it exists in America - that there are actually 100 parties within two factions in the U.S. Taking that into account, it really would depend on the candidate.

I could see myself voting Republican over Democrat (again, depending heavily on the candidate themselves).

Gaming / Re: Realistic Fallout 4 Predictions
« on: August 30, 2014, 12:22:21 PM »
Because the whole series literally is about America and more specifically the perception of the American public back in the 50s and 60s. Everything ranging from music, to the cheesy-style of adverts and consumer products, to the sci-fi of robotics is all American and the basis of Fallout.

Not taking place in America wouldn't be a Fallout game, it would be some spin-off game. It would be like if a Halo game was made all about the Interplanetary War. It wouldn't truly be Halo because Halo is about the story of Chief, the Covenant, and the Forerunners
> implying Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo Wars and the Halo 2 Arbiter missions weren't really Halo.

14026

The fuck do they even have to invest?
Military resources.

Can you stop being fucking retards and generalizing people because there are two idiots that run their mouth on Twitter? You're definitely better than this Mr P. Honestly, do you even know what social justice is? Because it doesn't mean 'random bitch on the internet who hates men.' Just because you're on a forum with a sour culture when it comes to issues like these doesn't mean you have to stoop to a low to get on their good side. Fact of the matter is that the majority of feminists and SJWs are glad that this happening so it's truly just not necessary to warp those people into radical idiots just because of a small few who are probably trolls anyway.
> not understanding what the term SJW means.

14028
Why do you think you know more than you actually do?
I don't. You even said yourself my opinions have some weight when you consider how much time I devote to the subjects. Exactly like how your opinions have weight on subjects you know stuff about, like the EPA. While I know you're trying to get under my skin, it really doesn't bother me. My aspirations lie in the areas I try to discuss and debate, so it's beneficial to me.

CoH and Metro stuff.

Ah right... well summarising it in general wouldn't be particularly easy <.<

When it comes to fields of approach it's a collection of applied suggestions/ideas/sciences. So the biological explanation is rooted in biology (No shit sherlock) with things like Neurotransmitters and brain abnormalities. The cognitive-/-behavioural approach(es) focus on learned behaviours as the explanation for things.

The evolutionary approach tries to explain features of modern day human psychology from an adaptive evolutionary approach. Like muh patriarchy, hunter gatherers, circadian cycles and the like. Some of it has been misappropriated by MRAs but it's still amusing nonetheless >.>

If you don't have any thoughts in particular though, no worries <.<
I can't say I see a problem with it. So long as it's not used prescriptively.

14034
Opinions on the evolutionary psychology approach, gib dem.

Spoiler
It's basically the bane of feminists and fucking hilarious even if it's not all true
I know it doesn't work totally with morality, but you're still going to have to summarise the whole idea for me.

14035
Was Freud wrong about everything?
No.

I certainly want to fuck my mother.

Bored as fuck.

Shoot.

No, i'm not trying to tread on Mr Psy's shoes. I have an amateur interest in psychology.

Choose something personal to me or controversial, too. Nothing straight-up and boring.

Link is paywalled, can you copypastrami the details?
Nah, whenever you try and copy and paste an FT article they throw a copyright warning at you.

I'll try and pick out some statistics for you, though.

Changed my mind, can't be bothered. We're spending less on food than we were a year ago, thanks to price cuts. That's pretty much it.

Serious / Whaddya know, competition works
« on: August 29, 2014, 01:27:46 PM »
Who'd a thunk it?!

Big British supermarkets have made billions of pounds in price cuts to compete with discount stores like Aldi and Lidl. It's the first annual drop in consumer spending on food.
