Gaming / New Steam game locks you out when you die

http://www.pcgamer.com/one-life-is-a-multiplayer-fps-that-locks-you-out-forever-when-you-die/

Quote
The asymmetric multiplayer stealth-horror gameThe Flock was built upon a unique interpretation of limited access: The game would have a limited population, (the titular Flock), and once that population had been killed off, it would stop working forever. One Life, which recently appeared on Steam Greenlight, takes a similar idea even further. It's a multiplayer shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world in which you'll literally have just one life, and once you eat a bullet, you'll be locked out of the game forever.

The inherent harshness of the concept is tempered somewhat by the "Domination" mechanic, which allows players to decide the fate of "defeated" enemies. The good news is that losing doesn't necessarily mean death. That is also, however, the bad news.

"Forgive, humiliate, finish off, take everything he has—it’s your choice. Saved [the] life of some loser? Take them captive and make them work [it] off. They will do everything to be free again. No other game will give you this feeling of power over other people," the One Life Greenlight page explains.

How fallen foes might "work it off" isn't clear, but the game promises "live communication" between players with voice and text chat, so victors can properly enjoy the "screams of rage and cries for help" of the vanquished. Based on the trailer, it will also be possible to take a digital piss on them if that's your thing. (And no, I'm not kidding.) And if they decide to simply finish you off, then that's the end of you forever: Your Steam account will be immediately locked out of the game, permanently.

Wow.  As a business model and possible social experiment, this is weak as shit.

Want to play through Treyarch’s gritty futuristic campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3? You’ll need an Xbox One, PS4 or PC. Less than two months out of release, Activision has announced that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game won’t be getting a campaign mode, though they will still be getting zombies and multiplayer. The older machines just can’t take the heat, the company says.

“The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player [co-op] Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware,”Activision said in a blog post. “Delivering the best possible gameplay experience on all platforms is always our highest priority.”

A 78-year old man was hospitalized Sunday after a 24-year-old man reportedly punched him in the face over a Nutella sample dispute at a Costco in Burbank, Calif.

Derrick Gharabighi, scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, is charged with felony elder abuse and personal infliction of great bodily injury against a person over 70, according to CBS Los Angeles. He could face more than 11 years in prison.

According to the Burbank police, the scene began when the elderly man told Gharabighi to only take one sample of Eggo waffle with Nutella after Gharabighi had grabbed several pieces, Burbank police officer Cindy Guillen told the Burbank Leader.

Gharabighi then allegedly punched him in the face.

Five Nights at Freddy's 4, the fourth game released in the popular horror series in less than a year, hit this summer. At the time, Freddy's creator Scott Cawthon assured fans there would not be a Five Nights at Freddy's 5. He's sticking to that, but he's revealed that the Freddy's series is not completely finished.

Rather than making another horror game, Cawthon's next title will be a role-playing game called FNAF World, the developer revealed in a post on the Five Nights at Freddy's 4 Steam page.

"It's very important for me to say again that there will NOT be a Five Nights at Freddy's 5," Cawthon's post reads. "The story is complete, and the Halloween update and new game will not add to it."

Instead, Cawthon decided he wanted to do more with the Freddy's characters "because they are so near and dear to my heart." He says that FNAF World will involve players forming a party using a full selection of characters from across the Freddy's series in multiple forms.

Serious / "I need muh securities to keep dem illegals out..."

"...but I don't want to follow the rules because I'm 'murican."

YouTube

So for you Britbong Pakistani Mooslimbs that may not know, in the United States, mainly along the borders, there are checkpoints that you'll go through if you fancy a trip through the States.  At these checkpoints, a border control agent will ask you, "Are you a citizen of the United States?" or for any sort of identification.  In less than 30 seconds, you're free to go.  These checkpoints are the results of rising illegal immigrant numbers within State borders.

Unfortunately, we have morons (who funny enough want these kinds of security measures to keep illegals out) that like to instead hold up traffic for half an hour to argue with the border agents about "MUH RIGHTS" over a simple "Yes/No" question.  One of the more infamous ones is "Pastor" Steven Anderson who, a couple of years back, entered a 90-minute standoff with border agents when he refused to cooperate, videotaping and yelling at them from inside his car, windows up.  It ended with the cops smashing his window, tasering him, and pulling him out of the vehicle.  Ever since, he's gone to multiple checkpoints just to pull his "MUH FIFTH AMENDMENT, MUH RIGHTS" bullshit.

YouTube

^ That is another example (complete with racism! :D) of good ol' stupidity.  At the very beginning of the video, the pastor complains about needing checkpoints for immigration, and then follows up with complaining about being asked if he's a citizen or not with his wife repeatedly wanting to ask the agent if he is an American.

Do you think that answering a very simple "Yes/No" question is a "freedom" to lose for "greater security"?

Do we need immigration checkpoints?

Are you going to make a 20-minute Youtube video crying for your Fifth Amendment rights at a tyrannical border patrol agent who dared to stop you?

The deal, announced early Tuesday, ended an impasse that had threatened to escalate into full-scale military confrontation. Pyongyang expressed regret over its provocations — including a land mine explosion this month that injured two South Korean soldiers — and pledged to stop them. In return, Seoul agreed to halt anti-North Korean messages broadcast across the border.

Calling the standoff "the most dangerous situation which reached the brink of war," Kim discussed with military and other officials the "important strategic tasks to bolster up the national defense capability as firm as (an) iron wall," according to KCNA.

What Lil' Kim really meant is that he shit himself when China started rolling up tanks and infantry along their border.

ell the Freeburg Community High School Board of Education to eliminate "Midget" as a mascot

There are several high schools across the country that have coined "midgets" as their school mascot, including Freeburg High School in Freeburg, Illinois. Freeburg, Illinois, is near St. Louis, Missouri, where Little People of America will be hosting its national conference in July of this year. Please support us in urging Freeburg High School, "Home of the Midgets," to rename their school mascot. Further, we would also like them to stop all sales of the school's "midgetwear" merchandise.

Little People of America (LPA), a national, membership-based organization for short-statured individuals, aims to educate and raise awareness about the terminology preferred by members of its community. The term "midget" dehumanizes and objectifies people of short stature. The word was first coined in reference to people of short stature who were on public display for curiosity and sport, and the word evolved into a negative connotation. The preferred terminology is "dwarf," "little person," or "person of short stature."

In the case of Freeburg, Illinois, while the term is not intended to do harm, any word that creates a hostile and unwelcoming environment with any potential student has no place as a school mascot. We want to ensure that Freeburg is creating a safe environment for all people, including those of short stature, that are in the area. We believe these changes can only have a positive impact upon the community and will only further support Freeburg High School's mission to, "enable all students to become productive and responsible citizens by providing them opportunities... in a safe, caring, learning environment."

Please support Little People of America by telling Freeburg High School to rename their school mascot, and to discontinue all sales of "Midgetwear" merchandise.

Serious / The Donald unveils his plan for America's Night's Watch.

Quote
After staking his early campaign on caustic and controversial remarks about undocumented immigrants, Donald J. Trump on Sunday outlined his plan to fix the country’s immigration system and deal with people who are in the country illegally.

The position paper, published on Mr. Trump’s website Sunday morning, centered on three principles. The first stated that “a nation without borders is not a nation”— a theme Mr. Trump has made a constant in his stump speeches — and called for a wall to be built along the southern border.

He also repeated his promise to make Mexico pay for the wall and laid out how he would do it: largely through increasing fees on border movement between the United States and Mexico.

“We will not be taken advantage of anymore,” the plan states.

Mr. Trump’s proposal also calls for strengthening the “enforcement arm” of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office, to be paid for by “eliminating tax credit payments to illegal immigrants.”

Mr. Trump’s campaign released the plan moments after the candidate appeared in a wide-ranging interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press,” during which Mr. Trump spoke broadly about his plans to deport undocumented immigrants.

“We have to keep the families together, but they have to go.” Mr. Trump said.

When asked how a President Trump would accomplish this, especially given the cost, the candidate responded with a question of his own.

“Do you think there’s tremendous cost for the illegals that are in here right now?” Mr. Trump asked. “Do you think there’s tremendous crime being committed by illegals?”

Link to Trump's plan.

I'm kind of amused that Trump cites a decade-old article to try and prove his point about illegal immigration.

A Birmingham, Alabama, police detective who was pistol-whipped unconscious said Friday that he hesitated to use force because he didn't want to be accused of needlessly killing an unarmed man.

"A lot of officers are being too cautious because of what's going on in the media," said the officer, who asked to remain anonymous for the safety of his family. "I hesitated because I didn't want to be in the media like I am right now."

Details of last week's incident in the Birmingham enclave of Roebuck remain sketchy -- such as how did the suspect get the officer's weapon -- but the six-year police veteran said he didn't shoot the man who attacked him during a traffic stop because of the outcry surrounding a spate of police shootings nationally.

"We don't want to be in the media," he said. "It's hard times right now for us."

Fucking outrageous that our police can't do their jobs because the rabid media will go apeshit on them.

The St. Louis County executive declared a state of emergency here on Monday as officials and activists sought to regain control of the volatile streets after plainclothes police officers shot and critically wounded an 18-year-old black man who they said was firing on them late the night before.

The police said the man, Tyrone Harris Jr., was among two groups of young people who exchanged gunfire near peaceful protests late Sunday on the first anniversary of the death of Michael Brown, an unarmed teenager who was killed by a white police officer in Ferguson. Prosecutors on Monday charged Mr. Harris, of the St. Louis suburb Northwoods, with 10 counts, including four of felony assault on a law enforcement officer.

The declaration of a state of emergency by the county executive, Steve Stenger, empowered the county police force and its top commander, Chief Jon Belmar, to oversee police operations in and around Ferguson, where police units from surrounding towns arrived on Monday to bolster efforts to maintain calm. Gunfire on the fringes of demonstrations commemorating Mr. Brown’s death — which set off looting, arson and confrontations with the police last year — unnerved residents and demonstrators over the weekend.

And apparently 60 people were arrested after storming the capital when the thug was shot...Jesus Christ, can we just nuke Ferguson please?

A lawyer and spokesman for current Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump issued a series of vulgar threats to a reporter on Monday, while falsely claiming that it was legal for a husband to rape his wife in New York.

Michael Cohen, special counsel for the Trump Organization, threatened Canadian-American reporter Tim Mak of the Daily Beast with untold legal consequences in response to an article that resurfaced allegations that Trump had raped his then-wife Ivana.

The statements from the real-estate tycoon’s long-time attorney may, campaign watchers said, prove to undermine a campaign that officially began with Trump’s incendiary remarks about migrants from Mexico whom he called “rapists” and has survived a series of increasingly controversial remarks over the following six weeks.

“It is true,” Cohen told the Daily Beast. “You cannot rape your spouse. And there’s very clear case law.”

Obama faces trash talk left, right and center – literally – and doesn’t deserve it. Despite bitter opposition, despite having come close to self-inflicted disaster, Obama has emerged as one of the most consequential and, yes, successful presidents in American history. His health reform is imperfect but still a huge step forward – and it’s working better than anyone expected. Financial reform fell far short of what should have happened, but it’s much more effective than you’d think. Economic management has been half-crippled by Republican obstruction, but has nonetheless been much better than in other advanced countries. And environmental policy is starting to look like it could be a major legacy.

I’ll go through those achievements shortly. First, however, let’s take a moment to talk about the current wave of Obama-bashing. All Obama-bashing can be divided into three types. One, a constant of his time in office, is the onslaught from the right, which has never stopped portraying him as an Islamic atheist Marxist Kenyan. Nothing has changed on that front, and nothing will.

There’s a different story on the left, where you now find a significant number of critics decrying Obama as, to quote Cornel West, someone who ”posed as a progressive and turned out to be counterfeit.” They’re outraged that Wall Street hasn’t been punished, that income inequality remains so high, that ”neoliberal” economic policies are still in place. All of this seems to rest on the belief that if only Obama had put his eloquence behind a radical economic agenda, he could somehow have gotten that agenda past all the political barriers that have con- strained even his much more modest efforts. It’s hard to take such claims seriously.

Finally, there’s the constant belittling of Obama from mainstream pundits and talking heads. Turn on cable news (although I wouldn’t advise it) and you’ll hear endless talk about a rudderless, stalled administration, maybe even about a failed presidency. Such talk is often buttressed by polls showing that Obama does, indeed, have an approval rating that is very low by historical standards.

But this bashing is misguided even in its own terms – and in any case, it’s focused on the wrong thing.

Speaking in front of hundreds at a rally in South Carolina on Tuesday, Donald Trump read a number he said people could use to reach South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham's private cell phone.

Trump and Graham have engaged in an ongoing feud in the past few days as they battle for the Republican presidential nomination. In Trump's speech Tuesday, he called Graham an "idiot," after Graham called him a "jackass," in an interview Monday with CNN's Kate Bolduan.

Trump gave out the number and urged attendees to call it.

"Give it a shot," Trump said, urging people to call the state's senior senator.

The girls decided to give him a free cup of lemonade anyway, and he started walking away.

But seconds later, he came back and allegedly knocked over the lemonade stand before grabbing the pink and turquoise money box with $30 inside, a spokeswoman with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

The perfect model of Niggerism.
