The Flood / Be fucking glad there wasn't a sequel to Gladiator.
« on: January 16, 2015, 12:46:03 PM »
Otherwise it would've looked like this.

Quote
n 2006, Scott stated he and Crowe approached Nick Cave to rewrite the film, but they had conflicted with DreamWorks's idea of a Lucius spin-off, who Scott revealed would turn out to be Maximus's son with Lucilla. He noted this tale of corruption in Rome was too complex, whereas Gladiator worked due to its simple drive.[citation needed] In 2009, details of Cave's ultimately rejected script surfaced on the internet, suggesting that Maximus would be reincarnated by the Roman gods and returned to Rome to defend Christians against persecution; he would then be transported to other important periods in history, including World War II, the Vietnam War, and finally playing a general in the modern-day Pentagon. However, there was no sequel.[89][90]

Yes.  Maximus would be resurrected by Roman gods to defend Christians.  And we would've seen Maximus in WW2 and the Vietnam war.  He'd probably be breaking into Hitler's bunker to machine gun him down before teleporting to the modern day to personally rip Saddam Hussein apart with his bare hands.

.....which admittedly would be fucking cool to see.  But it'd still be a shitty film.

The Flood / Woman's attempt at trolling BACKFIRES.
« on: January 16, 2015, 12:41:07 AM »
Quote
Holly Fisher, a conservative Christian, has been getting insane amounts of attention recently by trolling liberals on social media over the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision. Unfortunately, she tried to up the ante one too many times and now she has unintentionally become the living symbol of how fundamentalism, no matter in what religion, looks disturbingly similar.

After gaining internet fame for posing for a “conservative hat trick” by standing in front of a Hobby Lobby wearing a pro-life t-shirt and drinking out of a Chick-fil-a cup, Fisher wanted to find her next big political statement. Fisher’s fans had apparently been telling her that just standing in front of Hobby Lobby wasn’t good enough. The astute patriots noted that the most important aspects of being an American – guns, the Bible and the American flag – were conspicuously absent. Assuming she could get a further rise out of the liberals she hates so much, Fisher quickly tweeted a new photo to prove just how patriotic she was.

Quote
While many of her followers fawned over the latest “suck it, Liberals!” tweet, one user noticed how creepy the photo was if you stopped to think about it.

This prompted someone to post the obvious comparison: Fisher’s picture next to an almost identical picture of a young woman holding a similar rifle, in front of a Islamic flag and clutching the Quran. Even their crooked smiles are exactly the same. It’s uncanny.

Serious / In Florida, Satan just defeated Christianity.
« on: January 15, 2015, 06:48:56 PM »
Alongside the Atheists.

Quote
Separation of church and state reigns supreme in Florida schools once again after officials chose to cancel a Bible handout event rather than let the Satanic Temple and Freedom From Religion Foundation distribute their own materials to students.

In response to Orange County Public Schools allowing Christian groups to give free Bibles to students on Religious Freedom Day, the Satanic Temple petitioned to gain equal access to the event in an effort to give students actual religious freedom. The Temple would have handed out the “Satanic Children’s Big Book of Activities.” The activity book asks kids to find ways to be inclusive in order to solve problems.

In addition, the Freedom From Religion Foundation would have handed out materials as well, including a pamphlet depicting the Bible as a rapist.

As a result, the school pinned themselves between a rock and a hard place. Because they allowed bible thumpers to expose students to their Christian beliefs, they opened the door for other religious and non-religious groups to seek the same privileges. And so, Satanists and atheists stepped up to the plate and challenged the school district to enact real religious freedom if it was going to insist upon violating separation of church and state.

But rather than allow the FFRF and the Satanic Temple to distribute their own materials alongside their Christian counterparts, the Orange County school board has decided to cancel the event entirely, thus reverting back to the observance of separation of church and state that would have prevented this situation in the first place.

Quote
The Satanic Temple has once again proven to be an effective fighter on behalf of true religious liberty. As you’ll most likely recall, the New York-based organization recently took Oklahoma conservatives to task for erecting a statue of the Ten Commandments on statehouse grounds. The Satanic Temple petitioned to place its own monument, which features the goat-headed Baphomet with a child on each side of his throne. The ongoing battle between conservative “Christians” and the Temple has put a spotlight on how the religious-right has persecuted other religions in their effort to redefine freedom of religion as something that only applies to themselves.

This victory in Florida further demonstrates that point. Instead of letting other belief systems participate in what the school dared to call Religious Freedom Day, the school board just got rid of the event entirely. In other words, if Religious Freedom Day couldn’t just be for Christians, they weren’t going to let it happen at all. Because the Satanic Temple and FFRF fought for true religious freedom, the school decided separation of church and state was the best option after all. Of course, this must absolutely enrage conservatives, who will likely scream to the heavens that this is tyranny and religious persecution against Christians. To that, I say no one really gives a sh*t about your fake cries of persecution. Also, all hail Baphomet.

Those poor, poor Christians will probably scream about how oppressed they are.  "Oh let's have a 'Religious Freedom Day', but if those pesky other religions decide to butt in we'll cancel it!  Heil Jesus!"

Big applause to the Satanic Temple and the atheists for not letting this slip by.

He makes fun of people's bodily symptoms, is an overzealous Christian and a threat to a peaceful community.

He obviously cannot handle the job of being a monitor.

Goal is $500 500 signatures to be sent to Cheat.

EDIT:  Another reason:  He tries to sleep around with other members, another abuse of his office.  If Willy Clinton got impeached for it, Rocket deserves to be removed as well.

Serious / House Foreign Affairs Committe Member fails FIRST DAY OF JOB.

Freshman Rep. Curt Clawson (R-Florida) came to his first day on the House Foreign Affairs Committee trying to lay down the law using his impressive experience of being the boss-guy everyone had to listen to in his private-sector job. He didn't realize he was speaking to senior U.S. officials from the State Department and Commerce Department even though they were introduced as such by one of the chairmen. Nisha Biswal and Arun Kumar were exceedingly gracious about the whole thing, I must say!

Essentially, the fucking retard just looked at some Indian people with Indian names and assumed they were from the Indian government when they were actually United States government officials.

Take one look at the crowd and the guy behind Clawson:  They're all trying their goddamned hardest to not laugh.

The Flood / Christmas Horror Stories?
« on: December 25, 2014, 05:30:54 PM »
C'mon, you know you got 'em.

I'd say the recent one that comes to mind was a pretty horrible Christmas dinner...I think two years ago.  Anyways, we usually trade years with a family friend hosting Christmas dinners.  Our family friend's wife died in an accident that year, so he went back to Omaha to spend Christmas with his family, leaving us to go have dinner with his daughter and granddaughter.

Unfortunately, at the time the daughter was a vegetarian and the daughter was a vegan.  No ham, no turkey, just salad was on my plate.  My parents tried some of the vegan foods they made, but they ended up just nibbling them and then ignoring them altogether.  So outside the salad and a couple of cookies, it was a pretty disappointing Christmas dinner.  Thankfully my parents foresaw this, so when we got home we ended up having a pizza that was loaded with pepperoni.  Man's gotta have his meat.

Serious / Removing the mentally incapable from society
« on: December 19, 2014, 12:15:34 PM »
So while idling about at work today, I randomly thought back to a topic a friend of mine brought up in health class at school.  We were watching a video on a mentally handicapped person and how she had to be taken care of her entire life.

My friend, to great controversy among the class, said that mentally handicapped people should just be put out of their misery since they do nothing productive in society and just drain resources.  Of course I was a bleeding heart liberal in high school and likened his stance to the Nazi movement.

However, now that I explore topics more without instantly demonizing them, I think to myself "What if he has a point?"  I would never advocate for ending human life, but he does have a valid point that the mentally handicapped do nothing for society and must be taken care of their whole lives.  I know if I were ever places in that position in my life, I'd rather kill myself than to have my family and friends' stress levels rise because they have to take care of my basic daily routines, such as eating and shitting.

What do you guys think?   I'm still strongly against this practice but it is something to think about.

Serious / China bans puns
« on: December 18, 2014, 09:36:37 AM »
No, fucking seriously

Quote
Of the many things you could ban for the benefit of society and the planet, I would put puns near or at the bottom of the list. But don't tell that to the Chinese government, which announced a ban on puns and wordplay from all media earlier this month, saying that they could lead to "cultural and linguistic chaos."

The order came from the State Administration for Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television. According to a notice put on their website, puns and wordplay are "contradictory in spirit to the promotion and continuance of excellent, traditional Chinese culture."

They also called for radio and TV heads to increase the regulation of puns and wordplay. Some believe that the enforcement of the cutback on puns might be difficult, especially given that they are a large part of the Chinese language.

The Administration said puns and wordplay are particularly dangerous for children and make it easier to mislead the public.

Just.....what is even the fucking point?  Or is the reasoning just "Chinese Gubment"?

Here's another link with much more detail
