Oh, and did anyone else feel like the Guardians were similar to that "indestructible fleet" of Forerunner vehicles/weapons the Covenant tried to activate in Halo Wars?

Warden felt like a Diet Didact...until Cortana took over that role completely.

So is there a reason Cortana turned so evil, excluding "muh rapmancy"?

Spoiler
Finished the campaign...it was just alright.  It didn't really feel like that "dark story" that 343 promised it would be, and the hype was, once again, just hype.

Agreed with above that Osiris team was meh-tier with Buck being the only one I was interested in listening to.

I am pretty bugged that we have yet another faction to fight against.  We have the Covenant Remnants (I'm sure they'll still be around for a long while), the Forerunners, and now AI.  Also, good job 343 for making an entire "mission" just into just a cutscene.  Spectacular.

Haven't gotten around to playing Mutliplayer yet, may do that tonight since I actually love the new gameplay.

Not like it matters. The Republicans have yet to put a polarizing figure up. To win the race to be POTUS, you need to energize voters in swing states, and get the middle 20% to vote your way. So far no one has been able to. The problem is with the Republicans themselves. Too far to the Right and the 20% won't vote for you. Too close to the middle and the Republican Party won't endorse you.

It's arguable if the US is right or left of center. The main point is that it's in the center. You can't dictate from the far right or left. You have to be in the middle. As much as I like Bernie, he's still too far left. He may not be in a winning position either.

Sadly, I miss Bill. Politically he was ever so slightly left of center.

And he liked blowjobs. Never trust a man who wouldn't accept head.
You have interesting opinions, so I'll ask this.

Given how the Republican party has been more or less "hijacked" by the more right winged people, do you think their party is in danger of tearing apart? Or ending entirely? I wouldn't be surprised to see a new political party spawn from the far right because of that, or the moderate Republicans making their own.

There was a chance with the original Tea Party.  However, they ended up being absorbed into the current Republican party.

I dislike Clinton, but this shit is making me weary.  How many investigations were conducted under taxpaying dollars that turned up absolutely NOTHING to show Clinton or Obama did any wrongdoing?

Gaming / New Steam game locks you out when you die
« on: October 21, 2015, 12:08:34 PM »
http://www.pcgamer.com/one-life-is-a-multiplayer-fps-that-locks-you-out-forever-when-you-die/

Quote
The asymmetric multiplayer stealth-horror gameThe Flock was built upon a unique interpretation of limited access: The game would have a limited population, (the titular Flock), and once that population had been killed off, it would stop working forever. One Life, which recently appeared on Steam Greenlight, takes a similar idea even further. It's a multiplayer shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world in which you'll literally have just one life, and once you eat a bullet, you'll be locked out of the game forever.

The inherent harshness of the concept is tempered somewhat by the "Domination" mechanic, which allows players to decide the fate of "defeated" enemies. The good news is that losing doesn't necessarily mean death. That is also, however, the bad news.

"Forgive, humiliate, finish off, take everything he has—it’s your choice. Saved [the] life of some loser? Take them captive and make them work [it] off. They will do everything to be free again. No other game will give you this feeling of power over other people," the One Life Greenlight page explains.

How fallen foes might "work it off" isn't clear, but the game promises "live communication" between players with voice and text chat, so victors can properly enjoy the "screams of rage and cries for help" of the vanquished. Based on the trailer, it will also be possible to take a digital piss on them if that's your thing. (And no, I'm not kidding.) And if they decide to simply finish you off, then that's the end of you forever: Your Steam account will be immediately locked out of the game, permanently.

Wow.  As a business model and possible social experiment, this is weak as shit.

Dude.
It's Star Wars.
*casually looks at Leia*
Damsel in distress. Not the best female represenation.
No, she was a princess that was captured by an overwhelming force. While being in distress, she needed the help of friends, but as the movies progress it is realized that she is able to handle herself as well.
And then she gets captured again by Jabba, and subsequently gets used as his sexual plaything.

Leading up to her subsequently strangling Jabba to death, and later helps lead an infiltration force on Endor.

She is a pretty strong female lead.  It's not like she let's herself get captured and wail about not having someone to protect her.

She's also aggressively sassy towards her captors, not giving them any satisfaction of seeing her discomfort  (unless it's convenient, such as Vader's truth serum/torture and "Plan B" of the Rescue Han plan.)

Serious / Re: Hillary's emails reveal: Bush committed treason
« on: October 20, 2015, 12:57:02 PM »
You mean they planned a 2003 invasion in 2002? Oh the horror. This is unbelievable. We can't stand for this! BUSH MUST HANG!

It means he was planning on waging an aggressive war before he had approval to do so.

Would you expect the president to ask for a declaration of war without having a plan to carry out that war?

This whole thing is nonsense.

He wasn't just making the plans, though. He was forming alliances when he was still making his case to congress.
Making alliances isn't part of planning? This is news to me.

While, yes, alliances are a part of planning, they are beyond what he had authority to do. They show he was committing the USA to an aggressive war well before he had the authority to do so. It's where it goes from drawing up the plans on paper to where war is an inevitability
Show me where making alliances is outside the authority of the president.

By your reasoning every wartime president would be guilty of treason.
Bush planned and started to prepare for war without approval
Once again this isn't illegal.

Except when it is

Show where it says planning for a war is illegal.

Going to the midnight showings.  I don't care if the trailers "don't show enough" (because why be like every other trailer that basically puts the whole movie, or the best scenes, in the trailer itself.)  This movie looks like it will be great.  I had my doubts with JJ Abrams, but after seeing these trailers and hearing that he's filming organically instead of having every scene be in the green screen studio next to the break room, I'm hyped.

On low settings, maybe.  Total War, even the older games, require some fucking beefy hardware.

Hmm... I wonder what you'll do with the HRE. I know religion will probably play a big factor. It's my friends favorite faction in any TW game lol.

Another thing though is that that would be a COMPLETELY different time period. They'd really go from the 400's all the way to the 800's? That's Medieval time.

Medieval 3 tease perhaps?
