Playing as the Vampire counts, crushed Templehof and decided to subjugate them.  That turned out to be the wrong move, as a few turns later they built their strength and rebelled against me.  However I have the larger armies, so I'm just going to go in and have their soldiers join my undead ranks.  I gave those fuckers a chance, and they blew it.

Oh my god....this game is running much smoother than Attila and I'm on high settings with my GTX 760.

Kudos to CA dude, I think this might have been the smoothest launch they've had in a while.

I don't recall them specifically saying, "Stannis burns Shireen", only Shireen is burnt.  Since D&D were not fond of Stannis and seemed to want to fast forward his storyline so we can get to Bastardbowl, they just had his family travel with him and die, since that seems to be the ultimate fate of House Baratheon.  In the books, it's theorized that Mel will burn Shireen in an attempt to resurrect Stannis  but instead bring Jon out of his coma, and I don't think D&D wanted that kind of moral dilemma on a TV show's hero, which I understand.  So, if GRRM's notes revealed Hodor's secret, they wrote it in for some delicious, de-fucking-licious TV drama.

And since Wilas was a common stable boy, pretty much a peasant, no one probably gave a shit about someone suffering a seizure and suffering permanent brain damage.

As for Wilas turning into Hodor, it's speculated that Bran did try to connect to present Hodor, but since he was in the past and connected to the weirwood network, he ended up linking Hodor to Wilas, making the lad experience his own death and fucking him up for life.

The Night's King grabbing his arm...eh that can be summed up to magical plot convenience, but I reckon it was to actually set up the destruction of the Wall.  There's rumors someone, Benjen or Coldhands, helps Meera and Bran next episode so they could get to the Wall.  However, Bran is still marked by the Night's King, so if the Night's King wants to go through the Wall, he'll go through the fucking Wall as he damn well pleases.

308
But...oh my God I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up those last 10 minutes.  I've seen theories of Bran pretty much being a time traveler, so I'm not too upset at writing him in to "create" Hodor.  Still, I was pretty upset.

It just felt really contrived. Bran just randomly hops over to check out the Others' army, then gets grabbed, which is apparently some sort of mark, and that mark somehow nullifies all of the Children's magic, and I guess they were planning on Bran doing that because their army was already there...and yada yada yada, stuff happens, Bran and the three-eyed crow are just hanging out in past Winterfell for some reason, and Bran can warg into Hodor and use greensight at the same time, and there's a door in the tree apparently, etc. The whole scene was just kind of goofy and nonsensical.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the episode. I'm really looking forward to getting it right in the books, though.

Apparently "Hold the Door" will actually be Hodor's story arc in the books.  So, we'll see if either this stays in the books, or George will just re-write things because the show already revealed that scene.

The Kingsmoot was pretty shit, I'll give you guys that.

But...oh my God I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up those last 10 minutes.  I've seen theories of Bran pretty much being a time traveler, so I'm not too upset at writing him in to "create" Hodor.  Still, I was incredibly saddened by that scene.

I feel like this season has more passion in its writing (even if it is wonky as fuck) compared to last season because D&D are no longer shackled by George's obvious laziness at writing Winds of Winter.  They know how the story ends, and they can now fully adapt the story (not copy word for word, adapt) without having to stall for time.

Holy shit, the Medieval 2 Warhammer mod has 30 factions to choose from.
aw mann, is there a specific medieval version i'm supposed to have? because the last time i tried mods it just crashed

They highly recommend having the Kingdoms DLC, that's just about it.  Otherwise, it's still a simple download, drag to mod file, rename, play.

I suddenly have the urge to play Rome 2 as Egypt or something.

Maybe Macedon to revive Alexanders greatness? Sparta for the lolcoolfaction?

I can't say much since I mainly play Rome, Antony's Rome, Sparta and the Celts.  A lot of the factions don't entirely interest me...

Also guys:  Just found a Warhammer mod for Medieval 2 that's dropping tomorrow

Ok, the beginning of the video when was choosing which faction to play was cancerous.

"Oh the Chaos have hordes, that sounds just like the Greenskins' way of playing because they too have hordes.

Shut the fuck up Joe.

Also:  "Straw poll, who do we play as?  Archaeon, Everchosen (SAME.  THING.) or Fancy Pants?"  No Kholek.  Good job Joe.

Okay, fifty minutes in and all we have are polls and Joe wanting to eat 50 chicken nuggets from Chick-Fil-A.  I'm about ready to just fucking quit the video.

here's angry joe playing the game
https://www.twitch.tv/angryjoeshow/v/67439191

now i know >Angryjoe but i find he is honest in regards to problems with games and his criticisms are usually accurate. he doesn't say much about the games flaws but holy hell is he shit at playing, like he doesn't change stance from horde to encampment, he doesn't research tech, no fucking diplomacy, it's hard to watch more than 10 minutes.

What a fucking hack.  When he reviewed Rome 2 after is initial release, he says he LOVES the Total War games, yet he can't seem to play them.

Since he's mainly a bro gamer, he probably just has massive armies form a mosh pit in his battles.

Edit:  I'll check out the video when I get back though

FOR THE FATHERLAND

Hitler would be proud.

Also Gooots thanks for the link to the medieval mod for Attila.  That thing is keeping me occupied until Warhammer comes out, and I think it's probably the best mod I've played for this game.

I read somewhere that it can take up to three tries to finally kill that fucker.  Thankfully in my main Saxon Empire playthrough, the Lombards killed him as he besieged their capital, so I didn't have to deal with him.  But I lost so many villages and towns up north because of the 3 or 4 full-stack Hun spam.

Just...jesus.  I like Attila the game (it just feels smoother than Rome 2 at time), but the endless Hun horde just ruins it.  They don't feel fun to fight, compared to the Mongols from Medieval 2.

This is purely symbolic, right? How is an American citizen supposed to sue a Saudi official?

Exactly.  Which court will be overseeing that?

And what's to stop other countries for suing us for our atrocities?

Here's another shitty person playing the game, just some custom battles
Why the fuck is he reviewing it? Maybe they want a newbie to total war doing it but still he didn't even look at the other army when going into battle nor did he look at the unit skills he just spammed on the unit cards until he ran out of funds I won't even start on the battle

I'm seeing that, when the turn ends, the AI calculation in Warhammer goes as fast as Shogun 2's.  I hope so, because it's such a chore waiting for Rome 2 and Attila's factions to decide what they want to do.

321
Here's a 2-hour long playthough of the Greenskin campaign...though the chick is fucking god awful at this game, so massive cringe and facepalm warning.

GW decided to let them have full mod support like the other Total Wars. They changed their minds.

How about instead of an excerpt we GET THE FACKING BOOK.

And I'm rather crestfallen that it turned out to be another Arianne chapter.  Is it bad that I don't really give a shit about her?

bookfags are mad.

Honestly, I didn't care much for dual-wield Arthur Dayne.  Sure it looked badass, but at the same time it would've been nice to see Dawn in action.  Since it hasn't appeared, though, I reckon the sword won't have much of an impact on the overall narrative in the books.  The ToJ scene was fine otherwise, though.  And Ned Stark is a cunt for cutting down an already-dead Dayne.

The rest of the episode was just alright.  I enjoyed watching Thorne and Olly being hanged, and it's good to see Jon finally leaving the Wall.  I am kind of upset that D&D decided that the Umbers sided with Ramsay, seeing as the Greatjon was the biggest Stark/King in the North fanboy and SmallJon died protecting his king in the books.

EDIT:  Actually, the sword that Dayne had in his right hand might've been Dawn.  When he plants it in the dirt before the fight, you can see a sunrise symbol on the pommel.

Either it's Dawn, or he forgot to take off the Rollback sticker from Walmart

It's inspired by gameplay from the Earthbound/Mother games, and it's a fairly decent game in my opinion.

But the community/fanbase really is awful. Not as bad as FNaF, but still pretty bad.

I bet the Umbers' "gift" to Ramsay will end up being Rickon

"I have a gift"

I now believe those spoilers you posted earlier.

I hope the Umbers aren't joining up with the Boltons, or at least it's kind of like the books where we have a faction of Umbers inside Winterfell (subterfuge shit) and Umbers outside causing chaos and rebellion.
I doubt they'll delve into anything that complex. In spoilers Mordo posted, three houses side with Ramsay and three side with Jon. The Umbers side with Ramsay.

That's such bullshit.

great recording tbh, he gets a lot of up close footage of the different units in combat

At about 7:30, Darren highlights where two Bretonnians attacked a single Undead unit...does this mean we have our Medieval 2 combat system back, instead of the bullshit 1-on-1 combat from the last few installments?

And the Raise Undead spell was just excellent to watch.  Would love to distract Mr. P (fabulous he)'s units with some good ol' cannon fodder.
