Oh of course the winner of the tournament used rosalina

I didn't know she was that OP?
A good one is ridiculous, it's basically fighting 2 people. You have to take out Luma then fight Rosalina before Luma is brought back.

It's an isolation game

I see.

Reminder that who we are talking about is a pleb who made a 40-minute theory video about how the Didact is Noble 6's grandfather.

It doesn't surprise me at all.

Wait, what? You're joking about that one right?

lol, yeah. No one can reach that actual amount of nonsense and be idiotic, and I hope Chris wasn't stupid to do it.

I made a rant about Halo Follower a year ago on B.lind (before I left), and this one guy commented (actual quote):

Guy: "I heard that Chris is planning on making a 40-minute video on how the Didact could possibly be Noble 6's grandfather."

Me: "I wouldn't be surprised if he got a bonus 200 subscribers if he actually did that."

Though interestingly enough I gave that first player so much trouble, he switched Diddy out for Cloud for the rest of the tournament and lost.

Cool, m8.

So it was basically an awesome experience the entire time through?
It was fun but I'm very unsatisfied with how the day went down. Didn't sleep well, got up early, drove through a toll road and barely had the money needed to be in the tournament. I was tired, nervous, played sloppy, and got matched up with one of the top players in my first match.

By the time Sm4sh singles finally got announced I was ready to call it a day honestly.

Friendlies was awesome though. Beat plenty of people in matchups I was worried about, like Rosalina and Yoshi. Thought I was the only Fox player then noticed there were like 5 on a row of consoles. Got told I and another guy were the best fox players there. And one guy at the tourney  was actually from my hometown

Kind of sounds like you just had an "off" day at the tournament and the entire day in general. We all have those days.

But friendlies sounded fun, as you detailed.
I got to hang out with a friend I haven't seen in 7 years, so it was pretty cool. Didn't have to fight him in the tourney luckily, I didn't want to eliminate any of my friends.

Nice

Jesus, I joined a match against 2 guys who were obviously friends, and they spent the whole game double teaming me. Fuck that.

I experience that all the time in for fun (assuming you're still playing that).

If you want to get a little serious in terms of competitive play, I suggest For Glory Smash or Team Smash. 1-on-1 is a little TOO competitive, and a lot more strategic in order to pull off a good play.

Isn't everyone on For Glory super good at the game? I can get a few kills on For Fun, but For Glory sounds nasty

If you want to stick with For Fun, fine by me.

There's this guy in my game who spends the whole fucking match hanging around near the edge and knocking anyone who comes close off

Why

For fun logic.

Holy shit I actually came first in a 4 man Smash online

Was that when me, Eli, Verb, and you were playing?

Or was that actually online? If so: For Fun or Glory?

I think Ike is my true calling
How come?

I'm playing with Verb and Eli right now. I'm using Ike, and he just feels the right weight and speed for me.

Makes sense. My main in Brawl.

I'm actually in the room with you now. lol.

I played for a little bit when it came out, quit for a while and only just came back on.

Man I do get really pissed off when I play these games :(
hmm

if i were you, i would focus on playing the single-player game for... at least until you unlock all the characters & stages (assuming you haven't done so already)

try to develop some level of enjoyment towards the game on a casual level before you start playing people online

because, having fun is the most important thing, and if you're not having that, well
Yeahhh I can't imagine picking up smash then immediately trying to do tournaments. Might ruin the game for me because I'm not able to actually enjoy what it offers.

Did that tourney of yours actually start? If so, then good luck.

Also, anyone want to spar?

Hmm I might stick to single player until I get a better feel. I like using Marth, he has nice attacks and he's not too heavy or light. Is there a way to toggle the dashing? I hate it when I attack and then I immediately start dashing afterwards.

First off, I don't think it's a good idea that you constantly up-b using marth, assuming you think it's a one-hit KO if you hit it.

Well done :)
right

well, assuming he hasn't switched characters, the best thing to do in those situations is to just bait him out

mewtwo is strong, but he's also very light and kinda slow, so he can't take very many hits himself, on top of being "unsafe" (he can't just do moves willy-nilly, because if he misses or gets blocked, he'll get punished hard)

e.g.
if he's grabbing you a lot, try predicting that and rolling away when he gets close--then counterattack, if you're quick enough

how long have you been playing?
the best advice i could give to a beginner, i think, is to learn how to play defensively

kinda like how they teach you to drive defensively

I played for a little bit when it came out, quit for a while and only just came back on.

first of all, lower the salt

i'm not sure what exactly you're having trouble with, but the attitude's gotta go

Might explain the constant rage-quits.

well, what seems to be the problem, then

you said you couldn't get a hit in edgewise--why is that

i'm assuming he was playing mewtwo, and doing a lot of projectiles and throws

Yes I was. But for like 3 matches. I was Cloud, Shulk, and Mega Man for all matches after that.

But not really a lot of projectiles (well some projectiles) and throws, but mostly N-airs, F-airs, B-airs, Up-airs, and D-airs. Surprised, huh?

I'm the world's worst player

Not to be mean at all, but I died laughing at the Ghandi mii.

Also, I was wondering what was with the excessive up-b's with marth.

It's the best thing I can hit with

Lol, ok.

Although I have to play with my siblings, so I left. I was wondering what it was with all the no contests. Was I really going hard on you?
