It has it's flaws, but they aren't gunbreaking flaws. It also has its own mediocrities and in many ways is outperformed by other more modern weapon systems. But for its age, it's a solid gun.

It does look like it wouldn't be a comfortable gun to hold.
It's weighted weirdly and doesn't have a lot of good spots to hold it. Let's compare the FAMAS to a similar weapon: the F2000.
^^^Look at that piece of shit. It looks like a pile of garbage. The French army refers to it as "le Clairon", or the Bugle because it looks like a fucking bugle. It's ugly and unwieldy and nobody likes it. Nobody should have to use a bugle in battle, not even the French.
^^^Now look at this piece of art. This is the FN F2000. It's a bullpup rifle using 5.56 ammunition (the same as the FAMAS) but it looks beautiful and is very well-designed. It solves many problems of the bullpup style rifle (ejecting shells at the front of the gun/not being an unwieldy piece of shit) and looks cool as shit while doing so. It's funny how two prominent French-speaking nations (France and Belgium) managed to produce two rifles on the complete opposite end of the quality spectrum from each other.
I fucking LOVE the F2000.
