Just about to hit the -400k mark, and still receive some of the largest profits of this year, if not every year before. At this point it's just people getting in on the action because lelreddit - following the thread after that is people riding it for karma.
As previous microtransaction and "pay to play and pay again" games have pointed out, it's irrelevant what the majority of gamers think of it when any extra purchase is extra generated profit. Even if most never touch them , whales spent hundreds and even thousands of pounds on top of the game for currency/points and milk profits that otherwise wouldn't exist. Perfect example is GTA: Online's Shark cards that keep being mentioned and have generated an extra $700 million in profit. The sale of the game itself across all platforms was approx. $1 Billion, so they've already doubled it.
So long as there's an idiot with more money than sense, it's profitable, and will continue to happen.
Its the 'doesn't matter, had sex' principle of the industry. It doesn't matter how unethical our nickel-and-dime practices are, we still making big buck.

It's not even just the silent majority. These reddits are filled with people complaining about microtransactions, but most of them have bought the game anyways. Same with Shadow of War and just about any other game that does this. The fans hate on the payment stuff but, as they are fans after all, still just end up buying the game just the same.
At least a lot have cancelled their pre orders
Guys, the moral struggle of buying a cod game every year for my little brother's BD. His BD is in the middle of November. Guess what else happens around November every year without fail? A cod release. He only plays it for Zombies too. god I wish they just released s stand-alone Zombies mode for like 15$/€. But this is Activision, the one who held COD4 as a hostage inside of Halo 4.5 until a year later. Fuck activision. I know what they do to the employees, they trickle down some trinkets to keep you 'happy' while dabbing their greasy cocks in so much cash that even your mom's shadow has to compete for space. And if cod-wuwu isn't the best selling game of this year, I will donate 400 Euro to SecondClass.
