That is the goal - so when we praise someone who is getting closer to the perfect state, we let them know that "hey man, you're doing good." So that's exactly it - you are praised for being closer to perfection. Also, people know your character and will know if you are doing something that is outside of your bounds. Don't tell me no one ever complimented you for doing things that you normally do. Your parents feel pride and know where you stand on the food-chain of society. They have something they can compare and contrast other children against. I guess we are not constantly praised for being normal because its supposed to be the norm?

That's cool and all, but the main argument against that is that it's only showing how pretty you can be. It doesn't actually affect in game combat or mechanics, like Battlefield was, giving someone an unfair advantage.
Idk about you, but I think of two things with both of these things
1. When you have a bunch of cosmetics it just screams to me "look how much money I'm spending!"
2. I get hot and bothered for the playing field being equal and skill and knowledge dictating how well someone does, not perks or powered up things

Are trading cards comparable to loot boxes/gambling? Should they also be banned for the same reasons?
So when you buy a pack of collectible cards 1) The sole purpose of the game is to collect them 2) You can only buy them with cash (There is no predatory grind mechanics to get them). 3) You can trade them with people (making it a more social experience) 4) You don't pay an entry fee before putting more money down on cards. (You have to buy the game and then PAY MORE) 5) You can actually re-sell cards for more money than you originally paid. So you can see that while it is a game of chance, it is a lot less predatory. Giving you full control over what you do with the cards once you purchased them.
