Harrison Ford wanted Han to die years and years ago. He publicly said he would only do EpVII if Han Solo was killed off on screen.
I did not know this. The audience mostly did not know this.
Even if most people knew he wanted Han to die, that doesn't confirm shit. It's not impossible that JJ was able to entice Harrison to do another movie with a big enough paycheck.

Harrison Ford said he was glad to be back, liked being back in this role, and he actually enjoyed it. I thought he had a change of heart over 30 years. So yeah I didn't think Han would be killed off.

Also for the fight with Rey and Kylo Ren and how Rey actually held her own: Chewbacca shot Ren with his bow caster, and he beat on his chest during the fight and blood dripped on the ground. He fought that entire battle wounded, and Rey was pretty damn pissed off.

To be fair, I am quite sure that they weight a lightsaber to be a bit topheavy due to the nature of the weapon. You wouldn't want all of the weight off balance. It's one of the reasons that pistols tend to be heavier towards the barrel (besides recoil compensation), so that it's more evenly distributed once a magazine is loaded.
And Kylo did have some combat experience. IIRC, when he went dark, he destroyed Luke's academy and killed a lot of other trainees.
We don't know if he killed them all or turned them evil, who are the Knights of Ren? "Destroyed" is a word they used for Anakin Skywalker when he became Vader. Wasnt literally dead. But that's just speculation from me, they probably are all dead.
