So does everyone here use a GameCube controller too?
Wii U Pro controller

How do you like it? Do you think it's better than the Gamecube controller?

Havent played Smash 4 with a gamecube controller. I expected to try and play Melee's speed if I was using one so I just stuck with the controller I had. If I get another job soon I'll get the adapter and buy one finally.

I think it's actually tournament illegal to use anything else other than the GameCube controller. Not sure. CK can confirm that.

Pretty sure Pro controllers are the only alternative actually.

I have to reach further on the game pad so I do certain things just a bit slower than I could do, and in Smash that matters. Not a method I like to play.

Short hopping and doing aerials is how the pros do it in melee. That's their main form of fighting.

What's a short hop?
Tap the jump button really quickly instead of doing a full jump you'll do a small hop like I'd do in the beginning of our matches. You'll usually dodge an opponents ground attacks, and makes jumping less predictable.

Let's see here. This is just a general tip. Any time someone hits the ground and they don't do a tech roll(so they instead bounce on the ground) 2 things can happen:

You can attack them while they are down like me and you both did a few times, and lead that into a combo.

Or, wait and let them either roll to the left , right, or stand up. Most of the time people will roll. So you have a 50% chance of guessing they will roll forward towards you. So whenever they are laying there, get at a distance to where if they were to roll forward, you could hit them with a smash attack or something.

A 3rd option, is to get right by them. Usually thyll attack if you are right by them. So when you see them start to move, jump in the air so their attack misses and follow up with an aerial attack as they stand.

TLDR learn when to set up moves

CK Greninja's recovery is insane. Only way I'm killing him is if he goes up

Really?

I never got to play his greninja, which was a shame.
He literally will not die.

Ever

I'm trying to demonstrate the tricks I'm talking about to of you are wondering why I'm doing the same thing five times, that's probably why.

I didn't even notice you were doing the same thing repeatedly. . .

I just went to the controller settings (btw, it's pretty extensive). I made L my jump button, X/Y my grab, and Z my shield.
Well mainly where I was on the ledge. I dropped down, double jumped into a forward air, then grabbed the ledge again.

Did that 5 times. Other than that I didn't repeat much

Gaming / Re: Why does everybody lose their shit over KOTOR?
« on: December 28, 2015, 07:57:13 PM »
Pretty shit game tbh. Combat is clunky and dialogue options are terrible. Using the excuse "It came out in 2003!" is total bullshit because Jedi Outcast II came out before that, which has good combat. Plus its endings are worse than Mass Effect 3.

Then you have KOTOR 2, but that launched unfinished and took years before you could install that restoration mod for a complete game. And it took until this year to have the mod officially supported by Disney and Lucasarts. Plus the combat was still clunky.

And last your have TOR, which that game speaks for itself in mediocrity.
Which is the best Jedi Outcast game in your opinion?

Depends on what you want from the game.

Star Wars Dark Forces was a DOOM clone.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was "meh". Still pretty much a DOOM clone, but trying out lightsaber combat.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast was pretty decent. Great combat for it's time and and "meh" story. Good characters.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy was a lot better. Improved on combat and had a little better story. Though, you had a "self insert" character and Rosh. Who the fuck likes Rosh?

Jedi Outcast for story, which isn't much, and Jedi Academy for combat.
Love Outcast and Academy.

You can do it in melee too. Uhhhh I think it's under settings, then controller settings.

I can tell you are accidently killing yourself a lot due to using your recovery move too far away. Make sure you don't waste your double jump and go off the stage

I'll usually run at an enemy and do a short hop and use the down aerial (the spin move) as they run under me. If I end the move where they are to my right and at low percent, I can probably follow up with a grab to the right. If they are on the left of you, they'll be launched left.

It's hard to do a neutral a in midair because I'm already holding the joy stick up when jumping.
I turned off jumping with the joysticks, so only buttons are how I jump. Keep me from wasting my double jump

The best aerial move to use is the neutral a button. I think it's only 1 frame for that move to be used, and deals decent damage.

Don't just use that of course, but it might hit the enemy before their move hits you.

You are landing plenty of moves which is good.

A few tips. Use the fox illusion sparingly and low to the ground.

Like you noticed, I'd run away then turn quick and use it in your direction and usually hit you. A fake - out basically

That's the "b+sideways on the joystick" move, right? The equivalent of Falco's Phantasm?
Yeah. And landing after that moves leaves you so open for attack

Gaming / Re: Super Smash Bros. Wii-U

Another thing. When I land the forward air I press down on the left stick to increase my drop speed. If my last kick actually misses them, they'll either hit the ground and get set up for a combo or get spiked off stage from the speed of the fall
