Gamepad is banned for competitive Smash, where a better controller design will make the most difference.

They are banned mainly due to the fact they are wireless controllers. I actually just watched a stream where in the middle of grand finals some random guy pressed the home button on a gamepad that was connected to that tv. They had to hunt him down real quick and fix it. A solution would be to, similar to the gamecube controllers, plug them into their charger ports when the time comes to play. But that's more work and stuff.

Fuck the GC controller, to be honest. There has to be a more optimized design for this kind of game.
Have you tried the pro controller? It feels pretty natural to me, more so than the gamecube controller. Especially the z button on the gc, it feels so oddly placed now.

Could do with some notches for the thumbsticks though, it feels like even being a nanometre off in your inputs causes an unintentional error.
