I like that the only person with more activity on the site than me is Noelle, yet people are like "I'm really active, pick me!"
And the most active person on the site has not taken this seriously at all, even though Rocketman was trying to take my posts seriously.

I have no idea what activity really has to do with the position. Sure, you need to be here once in a while, but since we have other staff members it is not necessary to be here all the time. People should stop bringing that up as a reason for why they should be a Monitor. If activity was the criteria, then I would be one.
I was joking :D

Rocket, I'm not ignoring you, but you're having an issue with an idea that would need a lot of work before it's even considered.

I only said it as an offhand thing.

For goodness sake, quit thinking I can't understand what you are saying.
Stop responding like it would ruin the moderation of the site and cause chaos then.
Because from the way you seem to be so against the idea, that's the vibe I'm getting.
Nope. Im actually considering the possibilities. And for an "offhand thing" you defended it like crazy.

But I'm done spamming this thread with pointless debate. That's not the point of it anyways.
I'm defending it because you seem to have an issue with something that I said to someone else.
If you didn't act like it would be completely disrupting to the other mods and ruin the function of the mods, which it wouldn't, I never would have even responded to you.

Who cares if I have an issue? That's my opinion. We've all got one.

I can hate the idea if I want to.
But like I said twice already, I'm done.

Let's drop it.

Or we could just let Cheat choose a permanent Monitor.
That's not what I'm talking about though.

Your talking about the Monitor position, so yes you are.
If your idea is for actually putting people in random positions like being able to lock threads and what not, then no. Bad idea. There is a reason these people were voted on, or chosen. Giving so many random people that much power is asking for trouble.
Really?
Maybe it's too early for me to be explaining things coherently, but you do realise I don't mean to permanently allow random people into a mod position, right?
A temporary thing, for users that Cheat will pick.
And because it's temporary, if they don't cut it, they can be taken off the staff easily.
Its not a hard concept to grasp. And my first post about it mentioned the word "Mod" not "Monitor".

Anyone Cheat would pick, wold obviously be someone viewed as capable, example, the people Slash was talking about when I replied to him.

I'm thinking you aren't reading what I'm saying now.
I'm not stupid. I read what you said.

I'm saying putting random people in the staff over and over is tedious and pointless. Mods would have to adjust to having a different person on staff every week. Sure they can be "trustworthy" but you can't assume people won't do something stupid. Heck, Nasty is a mod in Plug.DJ.

Temporary or not, people can make a huge mess with mod capabilities. What happens if they are the only mod on and wreak havoc?

Geez you aren't understanding me apparently. But whatever, I'm done discussing this.
Cheat will do what he wants to do with this.

1. Lying to get something for free is wrong. No way around that. If you're dressing up for fun, I see no problem. The moment you're doing it as an exploit though, you deserve to get arrested.
2. Saying the that servicemen aren't deserving of a bit of nice treatment once in a while is really fucking rude. I'd like to direct your attention to homeless veterans and people who were actually injured/wounded in the line of duty, or anyone who was actually deployed out to the front line.

The worst part is that we have too many members qualified for this position. Good people will end up getting passed over in this round but in time and growth hopefully they'll get there someday.
If that's the case, I wonder if a thing like "Mod for a week" or something could be implemented?
Some sort of test for members or just to mix things up in the staff occasionally.
It might be an interesting thing to do when you want to gauge a member or just try to give people a chance they might not have otherwise.

I think having a consistent staff is one of the best things you can have.
You can get to know them, and how they work.

Changing that up randomly would be kinda strange.
Not a bad idea, just not something I think we really need.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't read my post and tell you that the words "Mod for a week" were in the first sentence of my post.

No, I read it.
"Mod for a week" is changing up the staff, and having a consistent staff is good.
What's the problem?
I'm suggesting inserting a member into a staff position temporarily.

Hardly "Changing that up randomly".
We would still have the other staff and a "consistent staff".

Just with one extra user that could be taken off if they can't deal with the position for the week.

Or we could just let Cheat choose a permanent Monitor.

Regardless of the impact, having a new mod every week would be an adjustment.
Having a permanent member is better, you don't have to ask "who is a monitor this week?"  every single week.

So you would be ok with someone ripping you off for free food when they didn't need the money?
You thought you did a good deed, and it turns out that it was a ruse? This is like being a con man.

He did this for months.
I fail to see why buying food for a military member is a "good deed", but not when buying it for this individual who is not in the military. I have been in the military, I have experience with it, even at a low rank, those people make a fuckton of money. If someone in the military tells you otherwise, it is because they started a family immediately and had a bunch of kids, or they blew all of their money on stupid shit like an overpriced car they did not need. Military members do not need people to buy their food for them. They should be treated just like everyone else, because they are not above anyone else. If you are at a restaurant, and myself and someone else who is in a military uniform are both there eating, why would you be more inclined to pay for that person's meal? Them wearing their uniform to a place like that is pretty shitty in the first place, because they have plenty of time to go home and change but are expecting that kind of treatment, yet people have no problem with that?

It's a nice thing to do. Also, they are doing something that could be potentially dangerous if they get deployed, or already are deployed. How is paying for someone's meal NOT a good deed? Unless of course you poisoned their food or something.......

Definitely. It's only 1 position being filled.
If it was like when this site was started, and several positions were voted on, it would be different.

But Cheat will make the right decision. It's all good.

Buying someone food is fine. But intentionally misleading people to get handouts is definitely a con.

Wearing a military uniform in public is a felony? I know impersonating a police officer is, but I don't see the harm in dressing as a military member.

Dick move, absolutely. But I don't think it needs to be a felony.

Impersonating an officer in uniform is worse. But its only illegal if you are wearing insignias or trying to use that status to get on a base or something like that.

In this case, he got free food.
Better lock him up for getting free food under false pretenses. We'd better lock up all those "homeless" and "disabled" people who beg for money, then hop into their car at the end of the day and drive home, too.

You just sound negative all the time.
Because this is stupid shit to get arrested for. He didn't infringe upon anyone's rights or well-being. He didn't steal anything. He didn't hurt anyone. I don't see why it's a problem.

So you would be ok with someone ripping you off for free food when they didn't need the money?
