Is there a loser's bracket? Or, am I just out?
You have 2 more matches to get into the playoffs.
Only one person from each division gets dropped. :)

oh ok. Who do I play next?

it always becomes 100% about my beliefs.
Actually it evolved from a discussion about the pastor's expressions to the biblical nature of homosexuality and sin, and Max asking how you could split the difference between the person and the acts since nobody chooses to be gay. To which you articulated the point that you don't think it's a choice.

Quote
a horrible misinformed and potentially bigoted mindset.

1) once again, opinions are nice aren't they?

2) yeah, this is obviously about my beliefs and not the topic
I think I've made it abundantly clear what Christianity is truly about: loving people and loving God.
Your scripture would indicate otherwise.

But I'm done Icy. Let the discussion continue.

not other people being questioned, but simply me. That is why.
That's probably because people feel the need to question you since you pretty much refuse to engage in any meaningful and developmental discussion from the word go.

I think it's an issue with you - not everybody else. I have no problem with being questioned for however long. If I don't understand the question, then I ask them to articulate it better. I only get frustrated when people are being exceptionally obtuse.

I find it a waste of time. I enjoy:

 A + B = C

I agree or disagree because of this, explains the reasoning behind it, and its done.
The point of this thread was The Pastor's attitude towards homosexuality. Not whether homosexuality is a choice. you see what I mean?

We are on a whole other subject here. Every thread is this way, that is my point.
It's no longer about the topic, it always becomes 100% about my beliefs.

I simply stated my views. You however ask me 1,000 questions any time I post in here.
It is rather annoying.
That's usually because I need to question it in order to understand where you're coming from, since it's so far removed from anything I'm even familiar with. But I don't really understand why you come to a website around discussion - especially the serious section - and then get annoyed when people try to facilitate such discussion.

I simply stated my views, you however never seem willing to actually engage in critical thought and analysis on any issues regarding your faith. It's rather annoying.

Like I said, I respect your right to express your views here. But I have an equal right to question, criticise and reject them, whether you like it or not.

I don't post in here because it is time consuming. It becomes pages of, not other people being questioned, but simply me. That is why.

Humble yourself
I could say the same to you.

I find your reliance on the fact that everybody has, and is allowed, an opinion to be incredibly, incredibly arrogant. The fact that you or I has an opinion doesn't make that opinion in any way correct, or even respectable. All that matters is how closely our opinions track reality. Mine, to the extent of our knowledge, is much more reliable than yours - I can't even stress the difference there enough.

Your assertion to the entitlement of opinion is nothing more than a red herring, and you should be mindful of such arrogance in the future. You're allowed to express yourself, but everybody else is allowed to call you out for making expressions which are quite patently wrong and frankly laughable.

I simply stated my views. You however ask me 1,000 questions any time I post in here.
It is rather annoying.

That's kind of the point of coming to a debate forum...debating the issues and preparing to defend your opinions, especially if they are unpopular.

I will defend it. but being questioned 24/7 is no longer a debate, it is annoying.

That's highly unlikely. I've seen it many times throughout High School.
You mean that confusing time of physiological change and sexual experimentation? And you don't try to control for any variation?

People don't just switch sexuality. If "curing the gays" worked, science would be able to verify it and lay out a single method that actually worked. It's not surprising that the methods used by such abominable practitioners are largely religious and divergent.

Opinions, bro. You aren't the only one who has them.

How many people have been gay then later became straight?
I'd venture close enough to zero.

Are you for real? you don't know a single person who has changed their sexual preference?
That's highly unlikely. I've seen it many times throughout High School.

I'm at a loss if you seriously moralise any of those activities, with the exception of the fifth and first.

Which, again, don't need religion.

Nor does the last one funnily enough, but I wouldn't necessarily call that one moral.

This conversation isn't going anywhere clearly. Let's just end it here.
I'm done wasting my time.

We all sin.
There's a difference between sinful acts which you have control over, and being gay. You don't choose to be gay. If God created someone that way, and being gay is sinful, that's a pretty shitty thing for him to do.

Popular opinion is obviously in favor of it not being a choice.
Just quoting the bible bro.
It's not just popular opinion. Science and research also indicate that it isn't a choice.

If that's the case, and God created people with the intention of some being gay, it's pretty fucked up that being gay is a sin.

I do believe it is a choice.
Why do you insist on ignoring science and research on the subject that indicates otherwise?

If it's biological, and in no way a choice, would you feel differently about God's choice to create gay people as sinners?

How many people have been gay then later became straight?
If people are hard-wired to be attracted to one gender, why do people flip-flop on that?

This is Jesus we're talking about, He IS the authority. God Himself, so in referring to the Bible you are wrong.
None of the moral teachings of the Bible require religious devotion to fulfill.

>loving your neighbor
>loving God
>gathering together to worship
>preaching the Gospel to the lost
>helping those in need
>living according to the Bible's teachings, to Jesus' teachings

You don't need ceremony to show religious devotion.

I do believe it is a choice. But do I think being gay is unnatural?
Of course not. Because we have a sin-nature. We are naturally selfish, self-preservation and all that.

Do people have a choice? To me they do. But they are "inclined" to do sinful acts.

In case you haven't noticed, we aren't going to convince each other of anything. This is always pointless.

I'd be interested to know what the biblical definition of neighbour is.

Anybody. all people.

Although, I feel compelled to say that wise teachings is not an inference of divinity.

This is Jesus we're talking about, He IS the authority. God Himself, so in referring to the Bible you are wrong. If you mean your own views, well obviously I can't help that.

I would honestly be a great monitor if you gave me the chance. Despite my tendencies to shitpost when I'm bored, I'm much more responsible when someone wants me to moderate. Your scripture would indicate otherwise.

Don't even try that, you read my thread detailing my beliefs. They aren't something I made up, they are straight from Jesus' Greatest commandment. A "greatest Commandment" trumps all others.

Quote
Matthew 22:36-40
Jesus replied: “'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
So what of all the passages that contradict that?

come again?

At what point do these things stop being isolated, unrelated incidents of idiocy and start becoming a problem with the religion?

When people stop reading the bible and simply buy into what any Preacher says. I think I've made it abundantly clear what Christianity is truly about: loving people and loving God.
But the Bible clearly states that being gay isn't cool.

How many Pastors have lusted after a woman in their life? Lied?
We all sin. So we all aren't cool in that area.

But we can have redemption for free.
