The way the world works right now, is off. We all want to do something that we truly enjoy.
In your case that is writing. In my case, music.
But the system doesn't work for our benefit. We can't all pursue and fulfill our dreams. They put roadblocks in the way. Here's what I'm doing right now:
I like music, music production, etc. So I'm pursuing a 2 year degree in Music Production. But I'm also pursuing a Bachelor's degree in.........something else. Still undecided.
So I'm getting a degree in something I love, and a better degree in something I may enjoy, but will give me job security and pay the bills if my dream doesn't happen. Is it the perfect plan? Nope, but its the best I've got right now. And all that schoolwork will get as boring as dirt, just keep the end goal in sight.
tl;dr
Go for 2 degrees at once. Major in something that will help you support yourself. Make your dream your Minor IF it is something like Music, where there isn't much job security.
