Serious / Re: Gender identity is biological

ACKCHYUALLY

It's pretty well established, but it doesn't lay it to rest sadly.
Maybe in a few years time there will be enough research out there to lead to better treatment for dysphoria, whichever way it ends up going. I wonder if it's preventable though, if it were detectable early enough (in the same way that accurate detection of ASD is getting earlier and earlier) it *might* be possible to use the plasticity to realign gender identity so that the mind matches the vessel well before cognition kicks off.

Infant neurons are wonderfully malleable, so early treatment might spare the person a lot of strife in later life.

Whether or not it's right to do that is another question entirely though.
If that were to become possible, I'm worried about the morality of such treatment. Wouldn't it be comparable with the forced sex realignment or whatever it's called that's done on intersex people?
I wouldn't think so. While I'm in full support of the LGBT community and their rights, I think it can be agreed that the existence of varying sexualties and gender identities is just sort of a problematic mess to begin with. Without taking this the wrong way, I think the world would be better off if gender dysphoria didn't exist, only because of the amount of suffering it causes. If it turns out this is detectable and treatable in the future at such an early stage, I think it'd be best to go through with the process.

At least those are just my initial thoughts, I really have never thought about this particular idea.

Could always do both. If you've the tech to "fix" gender disphoria then that should mean you can allow transition either way. Which leaves a choice open, whether or not to go with your born sex or choose to go elsewhere.

Hopefully as time goes on all fields will improve to allow flexability of choice.

Unfortunately for us, any chance the series had of exploring different directions or even trying different content was dashed when 343 took the helm.

Na. It might have done well with horror elements and well crafted segments, but not as a horror series overall.

It might have even done well with darker tones, but again, to make it the focal point of the series, it wouldn't have worked.

There's a lot of Philipenos in rural towns now.

Lot of middle easterners in the cities.

I don't know very many in that category so I'll pick what's on mind. I think shingles would do nicely.

Not good enough, I want his smugness brought down a level and ignoring him would give him an unjustified sense of winning.

There's some irony there then. This isn't like having somebody follow you around in person and nag you. On the internet if you want to shut somebody up all you have to do is pay no mind.

That's sad as fuck on both your accounts then.

There's something that goes on in our brains that makes us want to be the one that shuts him up.

You know you don't even have to reply to him let alone even read his posts if you don't want to right? It's not like you're being forced to read them.

On that topic I can't really say that I get people posting that they're happy he can't post for the time being. Has it ever occurred to just not pay attention to the posts you don't like very much?

Finally we can have this thread without Verb coming and calling everyone a scumbag for having these beliefs.

The idea of being isolated if you have enough money to live the rest of your days alone is not a bad thing. Anyone who says otherwise needs to throw away their copy of The Leviathan; it was written by an Authoritarian hack who only saw people as either cattle or wolves. You are NOT obligated to care for your neighbor and living as detached from society as possible gives you a freedom you'll never get from them.

And saying you have to forgo the currency of the nearest society as well is intentionally being unfair and trying to punish the person for not conforming with your social rules. Boohoo, a person found a way to live on their own and not have to deal with the bullshit of contributing to whatever the nearest town wants, get over it. Under that logic, foreigners and tourists shouldn't be allowed to use the local currency either because they're also not paying taxes.

You know you don't even have to reply to him let alone even read his posts if you don't want to right? It's not like you're being forced to read them.

On that topic I can't really say that I get people posting that they're happy he can't post for the time being. Has it ever occurred to just not pay attention to the posts you don't like very much?

Like I've said before. The real kicker on simple living is that it's difficult to do.

It's a combination of modern day society being in every corner and the difficulties that do come with simple living.
If you know what you're doing it's not bad. It's almost fun.

The real annoyance is modern day society and technology inevitably interfering.

Unless you're willing to go full hermit, pretty much.

Although I don't have fond memories of hauling water or being eaten alive by bugs in the summer when getting firewood.
Running out of firewood and freezing in the night is a fond memory.

I get your point though. Although you know it's possible to have things you don't like while doing something you enjoy right? I won't complain about a nice fire when it's really cold, but I certainly didn't enjoy months of work out in temperatures that hit me harder than other people and getting eaten by bugs.

I didn't mind sleeping in the cold. Past -15 is when blankets where needed.

I couldn't give to fucks about anybody or anything on this planet and the reason for that is I find everyone's intellectual intelligence to be far less superior than that of my own.

But you misspelled two so your intelligence is therefore invalidated.

I arrive late.

If I were on time I would've told you to ditch the late night internet surfing. The light from computer/phone screens is disruptive to your brain when it comes to sleeping. The blue light emitted tricks your brain into thinking that it's not sleepy time and instead daytime.

You were only making it worse.

are respawns canon in dark souls?
dumb question

He'd win because of this alone, you cant kill him.

Unless he gets so fed up that he quits and goes hollow. You can beat the undead through attrition.
The only way the Chosen Undead will lose is if ChaosMetalDragon is playing as him

Hello random idea. Would be cool if a souls game just pulled the rug out from under your feet one day. At some point your curse is lifted and you can fully die, but you've still got shit to do so you've got no choice but to do an end section of the game fully mortal.

Oho boy I could feel the tears on that one.
