I crossed the road so that the car coming down it didn't hit me. It was altogether a prefferable situation.

It's a learned/taught/discovered ability. Most people discover and learn about orgasm through self-exploration and tend to find "something that works for them" and once they are satisfied with that, they stop exploring and learning other amazing things that their bodies and brains are capable of doing. Nothing wrong with that.
Years and years (or lots of repetition) can make it difficult for someone to envision or even try to later find "something new". We're creatures of habit and once we're comfortable/satisfied that "we've got this figured out", many of us can't see that we're in a rut, and don't see any possibility (or attraction) in exploring further. That's not a judgement and I don't think that it's a "bad thing" that people find a comfort zone and then stick to it. But there is (almost always) more to learn and more to experience, no matter how confident we are that we've "mastered" something.
I'm not saying I wouldn't love to master that, just observing the trickiness, which you've now expanded upon.

Men are physically capable of multiple orgasms, it does require a good amount of practice, conditioning and starts with the realization that orgasm and ejaculation are two separate events. Two separate events that (for men) commonly occur simultaneously, but that don't necessarily have to. Due to that "vulnerability" (which isn't the right word, it is hard to accurately put into words, but it is a profound exposure of one's entire self) the event is best experienced (or practiced) with two participants who deeply trust, understand each other and are willing to work together on the shared goal.
