Not everyone will like you, and not everyone is going to maintain a level of civility with you. If someone attacks you though, try to find the humour in annoying someone enough to attack you.
I do, but they're so proactive about it, while the rest of us are just kicking back they'll be convincing each new member that I'm some sort of... monster. Makes things difficult.

I think the main issue is that you take little jabs too seriously. Just look at that "user traits" thread. I don't have a problem with you at all - I actually really like you as a user - but for your own sake, you need to loosen up. The old Elegiac wouldn't have ever gotten affected enough by words on a screen to even make this thread.
It doesn't hurt my feelings, no fear there. But I would like my threads to go smoothly again, at the very least.

Spoiler Day by day, it just seems to be continuing. I'm not too worried, since the majority of our old b.net crew are still cool with me, but we have a lot of new members who don't like me. They accuse me of arrogance, spam... I almost don't feel... well, I almost don't feel like a nice guy anymore. And more and more I've been pushed to say hurtful things to others in order to defend myself. I'm ignoring a lot of it now, but that doesn't make it go away, it just seems to ferment and get worse when I ignore it for too long.
I'm followed from thread to thread to thread, having every second thread derailed and filled with abuse.
Am I supposed to change my posting habits? I look at the front page of the Flood each day and most of the threads aren't that intelligent. Why is it that I should have to become a paragon of posting? The people who accuse me of shitposting themselves post the worst 'content' out of anyone here.
As for my arrogance, I just like to put on a faux-lordly attitude. It's been a running schtick for ages. Pay attention to the way that I treat you, and not to the terms that I couch myself in, if that helps at all.
I guess I'm simultaneously defending myself and asking for advice. Is there a reasonable way to mend this schism I've found myself in between the old world and the new?
